I love that the Fifteenth Doctor's theme plays immediately after The Doctor Forever, with Fourteen and Donna in his presence. Basically passing the torch from one incarnation to the next. Oh, Murray Gold, you're a genius!
@@OswinPondAgreed. Didn't mind The Doctor's Theme being absent, but would've been nice if they'd included a variant, like how they used several in The Star Beast, since I associate it with *all* incarnations. :)
It just goes to show that the performances and the stories aren't the only things that make Doctor Who awesome but the music too. Welcome back, Murray Gold.
You can’t deny this is hands down the best Doctor theme since Matt Smith’s. It’s so fucking good. Everything just keeps building up and getting more epic. Love the marching band aspect of it too.
While a lot of the different themes for different Doctors felt more moody, this Doctor’s theme feels upbeat, charismatic, and hopeful. Listening to this, I can literally imagine 15 holding Ruby’s hand as they take on the horrors and evil the universe has to offer with a massive, indelible smile on his face.
I'm so stoked for 15!!! The upbeat wacky music, the kind gestures toward 14, the hugs and kisses, and changing the tardis colors from cold blue to warm orange just shows how we're really going to have a warm and wholesome doctor this time round and i cant wait to see where it goes
Yes, the doctor so deserves this healing moment. To reflect and remember. To always remember but to be able to move on. Ncuti has already delivered such a warm vibe and can't wait to see it. 2 weeks can not come any quicker.
Upon hearing this, upon seeing this doctor. All it took was a few lines, a smile, a wink and then I knew it. The 15th doctor has arrived. We’re in for a treat. Doctor who is alive as ever and this episode has showed it. I’m in awe!!! And hell yeah, as one might say….. The Doctor is in!
Basically his way to keep David for crossovers perhaps. David’s doctors always has a way of living on somehow. Metacrisis Doctor and Bigeneration Doctor…
I can't decide either, just because we still don't actually know how it works. The special implied in a couple throwaway lines that 15 is from 14's future, which is a great way of doing the therapy/retirement bit (though it does raise questions about the tardis). But if it's just like the metacrisis and there are just 2 doctors now, forever? Awful.
Not liking bi-regeneration at all, nothing is more Epic than The Doctor taking one for the team and cheating death after an Epic speech and a blown up Tardis-then boom 💥 say goodbye to your Doctor and hello to the new. this new gen bs is noway near as Epic as seeing one face phase into another. Having two running around just takes all the stakes away and all of the feeling. it's a messy concept that I hope doesn't stay. "DOCTOR I LET YOU GO" Nuff Said:✋🏼
I wasnt sure how I felt about this theme when I first heard it, the marching energy. Seeing it in the episode, after finally meeting the 15th Doctor and seeing the torch being passed on, it felt perfect.
As well as the "happy regeneration" they were going for, I was very pleased indeed to get a fair share of screen time for the new Doctor instead of the usual 3-7 seconds they're given to keep a cliffhangar.
Fifteenth’s theme is amazing, and will be even MORE amazing when we keep hearing it through the upcoming era and eventually, clean on a soundtrack release! 😍
My first impression of 15. To be honest, hes like 11, 10 and got a bit of 9 in him too. Hes like an amalgamation of all the past doctors but with his own twist to him. And oh my god the theme suits him so much.
To me, he came across a lot like eleven, just smoother, less hyperactive, and without the boiling mass of rage under the surface. Didn't really see any nine-if anything, they came across as opposites to me
Couldn't have hit the nail on the head harder if they tried with this, I can see kids of the age I was when the 9th doctor appeared on our TVs being utterly taken away with the music and Ncuti's performance, an exciting new chapter 🔷
I was SO excited to hear his theme this episode and loved how they tied it in! Also, I KNEW I had heard part of the themes from 10's era in this episode! It was so great!
Okay, it takes a lot to pick up the viewer the way N. managed to do within a few moments. Respect. Maybe I'll return to the WHO universe after all, as I never really warmed to JW… looking forward for christmas..
0:30 Is it confirmed this is Fifteen’s Theme? Could it simply be his post-regeneration leitmotif, with the actual theme first appearing in "The Church on Ruby Road" later this month…? Either way, it’s funderful AF. 😄
Hello! Yes it is confirmed, we had a concert a month ago with Gold himself introducing this theme as Fifteen's theme! And the track is called "Fifteen". You can listen to it here : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ONkZSnEQY8s.html !
One thing I'm confused about regarding the bi-generation: Does this mean there are now two entirely separate Doctors running around (and are they both capable of regenerating, or is only Fifteen capable of doing so?), or is it more like a time loop where Fourteen eventually regenerates properly into Fifteen, then gets sent back in time to the moment of the Bi-generation?
They are both the Doctor. The regeneration healed the 14th Doctor but the next Doctor separated from the original Doctor's body. Although they are somehow connected too. 15 said he is calm and mentally refreshed because of the time 14 will spend with the Nobles resting. So it is implied 14 will become 15 someday or maybe he will choose his own path (that could explain The Curator incarnations).
Honestly I have mixed feelings about RTD returning and Tennant taking the spotlight for the 60th anniversary but good God am I glad to have the legend Maury Gold back.
Does anyone else hear The Jacksons' "Can you feel it" in this? Like in the stomping rhythm? It's not the exact same notes, but very similar pushing forward and upward beat.
Fifteen is gonna be brilliant! Normal service has been resumed, cannot wait for the Christmas day special! Yes the Doctor Who Christmas Day special is back. This is going to be the trip of a lifetime.....
The 17th Doctor has arrived. Don't forget, John Hurt was the canon 9th Doctor (called the Doctor by the others & even called himself the Doctor twice), which now makes Christopher Eccleston the 10th Doctor, David Tennant the 11th & 12th Doctor's (regenerated but kept the same face), Matt Smith the 13th Doctor (confirmed this to Clara + he's now also Doctor 2.1*), Peter Capaldi the 14th (2.2) Doctor, Jodie Whittaker the 15th (2.3) Doctor, David Tennant the 15th (2.4) Doctor, and makes Ncuti Gatwa the 17th (2.5) Doctor. * the first regeneration of the new cycle was from Smith to Capaldi, leaving 12 incarnations to go (Smith is original cycles 13th Doctor and the new cycles 1st Doctor).
But Chibnall's era changed everything about the limit of regenerations as he did that the Doctor is the first time lord and not a random time lord, the Doctor actually don't have a limit of regenerations and it's probably what allowed him to bi-regenerate and etc Though some details made by Chibnall are stupid and it's sad that Jodie Whittaker played the Doctor in these conditions
The only thing I think I won’t like about 15 is that clearly his ark is going to be human-centered. By that I mean: it’s going to have a lot of shots of humans doing human things, like in the church episode. But besides that (though it’s a rather big hurdle) it should be good
I love 15s theme but the version used in the episode sounded liked it had midi strings? I think the concert version sounded a lot fuller. Maybe on the official soundtrack release when its mixed more for listening standalone it'll sound better. Great job on this upload though and the others too you're super fast
It really does sound like midi strings. The strange thing is, this way, the music sounds really similar to the Ninth Doctor's era, particularly this bit: 1:24.
I’m thinking the Curator. After all, the Curator is highly implied, if not outright confirmed, to be a future incarnation of the Doctor, who decided to retire from adventuring and take on the job as curator of the museum where “Gallifrey Falls No More” was kept.
Whatever RTD and the BBC had to pay Murray Gold to come back... IT WASN'T ENOUGH!! I think Ncuti is going to bring back some of the whimsy, childlike enthusiasm and off-beat humor of Matt Smith.
That's what everything on this account is. It's extracted from the 5.1 episode audio, cutting out dialogue and some SFX, but not all of it, because the official audio isn't available yet. This is what we've always had to work with as fans while hoping for future soundtrack releases.
Would have loved this episode if not for the bi-regeneration. Such a stupid concept that I hope is rectified somehow. I just want one doctor. And I feel as though it undermined Gatwa’s entrance.
As long as we dont get any more painfully on the nose dialogue, ‘male presenting timelord…’ still cant quite believe the actress managed to say that with a straight face! - then this will be golden
@@shemdellashemygd29 Big Finish-wise, they've been adapting audio stories since 2005. "Dalek" from Series 1 was adapted from "Jubilee", and any actually good cyberman story has some elements lifted from "Spare Parts".
More likely that given the brosd dislike of the stories poor Jodie had to put up with, if Nguti's storing sink like the last incarnation, they can bring back Tennant and restart after he absorbs the failed attempt. They can't afford two dead ducks, as thats what killed off the original (Baker and McCoy) so they need an exit plan.
I will not stand for this McCoy slander. The original cancellation was more due to network meddling than anything, and the show had gotten back on its feet by Season 25.
Me, 37 year old DW fan who has seen all the Classic and New episodes, but stopped at Spyfall 2 cause Dhawan's Master annoyed the shit out of me: HELL YES I'M COMING BACK. lol. I still haven't finished Jodi's era cause when Dhawan appeared, i immediately fucked off. He is so boring, annoying, derivative, just plain NOT interesting as the Master.
Whittaker was awesome as the Doctor and Dhawan was great as the Master, it's just bad written by Chibnall and the others, and they never explained which regeneration of the Master Dhawan played, as Missy died for real
@@ShadowLink1986I disagree with OP (of course composers have a style, and Gold has more variety in his music than anything Akinola ever had), but I don't think it's fair to say they can't have an opinion because they don't compose music. With that logic you can't criticize anything because you need to be a master of it before forming an opinion. You don't need to make movies to dislike one haha
Can I suggest you watch "The Power of Kroll" if you don't think the DW has been 'woke' before. Its from the forth Doctor era (Key to Time) and comments on capitalism, racism, colonialism, bigotry, fascism.
To quote the forth Doctor... "You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views, which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering."
Tf is this goofy ass tune? Sounds like remixed farts as a bass line. If I come back to Doctor Who for anything now, it’s either to listen to the new sound track, or see the new props (purposefully pretending the sonic television remote doesn’t exist) and sets they make with Disney money. Really don’t feel like I’m on board for the writing or acting anymore.
