Doctor Who - The Pandorica Opens Next Time Trail

Brilliant writing!!

When I was really little I lived in an apartment in New York City. And on the wall opposite my bedroom there was a crack. It terrified me for months until my parents had it fixed. So thanks for reminding me of that Steven Moffat.

I feel all 5000 views can be attributed to me. I've lost count how many times I've watched this preview. Can't wait for Saturday.

The orginal Cybermen had fleets, in fact, that's where they lived. The alternate-universe Cybermen don't so far as we've seen, but given they appear to have been scattered though time and space, maybe they've had time to build them. But yes, the cyber-king was ridiculous.

'Pandorica' is obviously related to Pandora's Box, and the Doctor's always been saying 'there's always hope' in most episodes, so obviously a lot of his enemies are going to be inside it but at the end there will be one good thing.

I think The Pandorica Opens is the 1st time River Song meets the doctor in her personal linear time. She always says that she never meets the doctor in order from his perspective.

love the way at 1:13 you see a whole fleet of sontarans, judoon, cybermen and daleks

i was 99% sure that the pandorica would open and either the 9th or 10th doctor, the rani, or Davros would be inside. It would have been awesome to see someone like tom baker come out in his old scarf and stuff.

if you ask me, its just like Pandora's box, which zeus gave to her, told he not to open it, but she did and she died. This is just on a universal scale. not too different.

2) She uncovered the primal Matrix of life from which Time Lords were 'Loomed' when there regenerations were spent and they were made anew. Pandora used this power to reach immortality. Corrupted by power she tried to dissolve any power strong enough to dethrone her.

@TweetReece I'm thinking there's a definite possibility the Beast will be back one day, but the description of what lies inside the Pandorica, to me and many others, seems to best fit the Doctor himself.

I had a nerdgasm when RIver mentionned the Chelonians. They only existed in the Expanded Universe during Doctor Who's nineties hiatus back then, you know?

on the website there is a picture of amy as a little girl with the doctor so maybe there is a chance of bringing her back...hopefully, she's the only assistant i've really liked so far.

I got two theories on what in the box. One is that whatever in the Pandorica has some connection to The Beast or was born from its era (the "Time before time began"). The second is that its might be one of the horrors created in the Time War. And I just want to say that it can't be Omega or Morbius like some people are thinking because the Doctor would still sense them even if their in the box. Unless the box is shielded, but it doesn't appear to be.

@JunkyardCrap Quite possibly, they weren't allowed to fight in the Last Great Time War because they'd be too greater warriors for it, like the Daleks not being allowed in the Game of Rassilon because of their superior intellect.

I've got this feeling it may be the Valeyard. That'd be a nice twist.

@JoeAndTeddy That makes a lot of sense. The Doctor has, in one form or another, killed beings from those worlds/species, in some cases, wiping them out all together. He could be the "warrior covered in the blood of a thousand galaxies", at least according to his enemies. AND didn't River Song say that she killed a "man " - the best kind of man? Does she help trap him? Oooohh the suspense and speculation. 2 weeks to go until we know it all :)

I think that it's more than likely a Time Lord or Time Lady in the Pandorica. If not the Master, it's probably the Rani. But we'll have to wait and see.

@gamerlegend Erm... He wasn't with Rassilon and the other Time Lords because his physical form was destroyed and he is trapped in his anti-matter universe. However, it's possible the cracks in time have something to do with his return.

@kylephantom4 Or not from the classic - why does everybody think that Moffat is incapable of coming up with his own great enemy for the final - this is the man who gave us nanogenes, clockwork robots, weeping angels, vashta nerada, prisoner zero, atraxi, and smilers - so far all of his stories have centered around his own original creations

its gunna be like Doomsday. they all was wondering what was in the void ship, then it opened at the end of the episode, then there was a big dalek/cyberman fight

the bit with all them spaceships have dalek ships in the distance....-cybermen are definatley in it aswell as riversong. oh and the episode after i found out that the doctor and tardis have "gone" and only one girl can save the universe...(wikipedia)

I just noticed the only alien that doesn't hate the doctor are the Ood. I wonder what they're doing. Maybe singing his song :)

i think nothing is in the pandorica, the most feared creature i bet IS the Doctor and all his enemies have gathered to put him in their.

I would probably enjoy the finale. Every episode this season that Moffat wrote were the ones I enjoyed the most (Eleventh Hour, Beast Below, the Stone Angel episodes). I have faith that this will be awesome. Although, upon reflection, it almost seems obvious that it's a trap.

There is one thing I don't get about all this - the end to this series was advertised as being the Doctor Vs. all his greatest and deadliest enemies but not once did I see The Master.......odd !!

anyone noticed that in the last episode with the angels that when the doctor gave Amy that cryptic message he had his jacket on.. i thought the angels took it off him? watch it again if you didnt notice it. its very interesting, was he a doctor from the future telling Amy what was going to happen with a riddle?

@MrHowdareyou Because the parallel counterpart may feature in the episode. Maybe the Mondas Cybermen feature as well, as has been speculated, or maybe the Mondas Cybermen now have the same design as the Cybus Cybermen. It's Doctor Who, so anything's possible. Only time will tell what's really happening.

@Tendoking nah, i think it'd be an anti-climax to have the Master re-appear so soon after the specials, besides, its not like the Doctor sees him as an enemy at the moment anyway considering those specials.

Fascinating. I say that the Doctor's nemesis is in there; it's a prison for the Master.

@Dalek44 I didn't think we'd ever see them again (although we did just see them in The End of Time, Part Two). Of course, the Slitheen won't really get their own story here and are just there to add to the threat.

I reckon the enemy in the pandorica is either the master or the cybermen from the doctor's demention or Rassilon.

@Paritan164 If you watch the second part of "The End of Time" you see the Master disappear; he helps the Doctor time lock the Time Lords back into the Time War - you don't actually see him die. And in tv shows like Doctor Who that means a comeback is always possible - never say never.

This has now become one of my favourite episodes ever from Dr Who. I can't wait until next week, the cliffhanger on this story is unbearable!

3) The Time Lady Pandora was thwarted by the high council of Time Lords and Imprisoned for all time with the Matrix in the Pandorica. All knowledge of it's location and of its design were destroyed so that the power could never fall into the hands of those whom it would corrupt.

@TheFreeRoamer That doesn't mean anything. Whoever was in the chair before could've escaped and put the doctor there. That doesn't really reveal anything "inside tracklike"

it's probally all the Doctor's enemy's gathering to put the Doctor inside the Pandorica

Has anyone noticed there have been a lot of mentions about perception filters throughout the entire series? the vampire-fish villains had some, the tardis-like thing in the previous episode had one, prizoner zero too. As for who's going to win the big fight above stonehenge, my money's on sontarans (love those guys) BRING BACK GENERAL STAAL! LOL

Here's my thought: In a manner similar to the genesis ark; words of good connotations and ended up releasing daleks. Pandorica, linked to Pandora may not be something bad to us, but bad to Daleks, Cybermen etc. and their interpretation has become the general perception. In fact I believe it's a version of the doctor and he destroyed the Tardis to open the cracks so he could send messages to himself and Amy (Flesh and Stone). And could River kill this 'other' Doctor, the best man she ever knew?

Did you guys see which creature moves up the whole city? It's at 0:16. I suppose that's the most feared being in all the cosmos.

Found this on the pandorica on a wiki, anyone know which classic eps its taken from? 1) The Pandorica is complicated. In Time Lord history there was a Lord President named with a really long complex name which escapes me at the moment but it is shortened to pandora. This Time Lady lead the Gallifreyan people before the time of Rassillon. A powerful and wreck-less force unchecked by the high council of Time Lords she sought absolute power.

@timespacevortex Omega is a Time Lord who (supposedly) died giving the Time Lords the power of Time Travel. It turns out he didn't die and wants revenge on the Time Lords for abandoning him. He has appeared twice, in The Three Doctors (1973) and Arc of Infinity (1983) and was defeated by the Doctor on both occasions.

i have an idea you know at the end of the episode "amys choice" with the dream lord a clip at the end shows the dark doctor saying lets blow up the tardis and thats the suspision i had when he pulled at the piece of tardis, i think river song is either rani or inside the pandorica?

I see a load of sontaran ships at 1:14, and at the very right of the screen you can just make out some dalek saucers. Like Captain Jack said: I know their ships.

Ok, All I'm gonna say (well maybe not all hehe) but, here's my train of thought. 1. The Doctor makes the comment about what could be so bad to require all that. 2. We have the crashed TARDIS. 3. Someone taught Riversong how to fly a TARDIS and it wasn't the Doctor. 4. From what I can tell from the preview, I'm thinking The Doctors touch seemed to open it up, which if i'm right, would make it Time Lord tech...... does anyone see where I may be going with this? the only villain from classic series that it can possibly be is either morbios, omega, or another evil personaility of the doctor like the dream lord and valeyard

@TheFreeRoamer I've seen quite a lot of speculation about that, I personally think it's being over-emphasised and was simply a production slip up. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

@mowingthefrontlawn I always had thoughts of my favorite Doctor Who villains appearing in the same episode. Favorite villains:Daleks, Cybermen, Slitheen, Sycorax and Sontarans.

The Trickster in the Pandorica? maybe it's the Doctor himself or as a lot of people are saying Omega? its one of them i reckon, though the Trickster is more of a Sarah Jane type thing i.e. too easily defeated to be a doc Who monster officially I think.

a friend of mine thinks that Tennant will appear again and it will be one the last tho series as The Doctor who stayed in the parallel universe with Rose....and probably River Song will kill him etc. Those things sound a bit crazy but are they possible to happen?
