RU-vid's been throwing a bunch of fan theme covers and remixes at me recently for some reason but this is the first one that captured the spirit of the theme in my head, a sci-fi feel with a bit of unease. This feels more like a Doctor Who theme to me than the orchestral and rock versions we've had thus far in New Who.
If Tom Baker or Peter Davison got the chance to take the Doctor to the big screen in the 1980s, this sounds like the theme they would've had. Sheer excellence.
I gotta say, I've been cruising through hundreds of Doctor Who fan themes, from whomix to Vimeo to RU-vid, and this is the best one I've heard. Genuinely. I could seriously imagine this on the show no problem. It still has the more modern "Gold-esque" orchestral flair in places but sticks to synthy spookiness like the older themes. Love this!
That logo was used on the Doctor Who novelisations released in the US by Pinnacle Books in the late 70's/early 80's before the Target novelisations became available stateside.
For the last 3 months, the passion for the series returned again a few years later (mid-2010s). I've heard a lot of fan-made reworkings of the title theme, extended versions of it, even merging the original and fan-made versions. But this one... It really has something unique. It is not just worthy of being on the same level with the official media, it surpasses many things. For me, who considers the theme of the seasons of Matt Smith to be the best, a theme worthy of overthrowing the King appeared in my perception)
One of the best, if not thee best fan-made themes...the music along with the late 70's Pinnacle Books logo really captures the mystery of Doctor Who better than any music/logo combo in NuWho so far.
Thanks for incorporating that part of the Howell theme that comes after the second middle eight. It made the video for me. I just wish more people would use it, makes a great end. By the way anyone know what it's called?
@@TheWandererRemixes Yeah, this "climb" starts on a different chord than the one in the Howell original. Doesn't make it "off" or "wrong," just a different choice made by this artist. I kinda dig it.
Dear HMSC - I would like to credit you for this version of the Who theme in a film project of mine. Would you please contact me and let me know your name (IG or Twitter)? If not, I will credit "His Majesty's Secret Circus."
