Location Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do
Hwando (環刀) is a name derived from the fact that it has a sheath, attaches a ring, drapes a string around the ring, and wears it around the waist. The name Hwando (環刀) has been used since the end of the Goryeo Dynasty. During the Joseon Dynasty, most single-edged swords with short hilts were called 'hwando'. The production of Hwando was directly managed by the state, and made by Hwando masters belonging to the Military Weapons Command.
The functions possessed by the hwandojang include sand iron ironing function (smelting function), blacksmithing function (folding function), blade strengthening function (unwinding function, quenching function, tempering function), forming and polishing function (shaving function, sharpening function, polishing function) skills), etc., Hong Seok-hyun has mastered all such skills and is a Korean master of martial arts with excellent skills.
