I had my broker cleared for DOD a couple weeks ago. We are still setting up on TEAMS; its kind of confusing on which apps are needed. But Im at the last steps and should be bidding soon. It would be nice to have some assistance lol
Is it possible to be an owner of the company and not have to undergo the background check or is it everyone involved with the sensitive info, which makes sense.
I see a lot questions about hauling for the Dept of Defense. First and foremost, you will have to be A) Dept of Defense approved Vendor (2021 National Defense Utilization Act) B) Be cleared by SAM for validation and verification C) Have a SECRET Clearance (All contracts are considered Secret level clearance required, so to even bid you must have a clearance to see what is available) And last but not least, you must have your DOT and MC Authority. There are ways to get on contract with a Prime Vendor and you will still be required to meet all the other standards and requirements. Also, a tip if you will; You will need to have a clean criminal record (no felonies or convictions) you will need excellent credit (definitely make sure you don't have any open collections, owe the government money and open bankruptcy or foreclosures) and it helps if your are a Veteran or retired military member. Good Luck!! P.S. We are a CAGE with SAM approval, a SDVOSB on DoD contract for freight and shipping.
Great video! We have a few questions. 1. Your video mentions that “drivers” must pass background check. Does this apply to “non-driving” company owners as well or only the drivers? If so, does it apply to every shareholder/owner or just one shareholder/owner that would be the POC for the DOD? 2. Are there any protections in place/allowed for drivers (escorts/body armor). I’m almost certain civilians can’t carry firearms on government bases but does that apply to body armor as well? I think it’d be important for our company to notify drivers we hire of any risk if any. Thanks for all your help. I’ll be looking into the resources you mentioned as well!
Hey! If they wish to transport classified material, a company needs to have a clearance as well and no firearms allowed on facilities. Here's our article on hauling DOD freight that's a little more in-depth: blog.drive4ats.com/department-of-defense-military-freight-driving-requirements
How old do you have to be to apply to work DOD loads, i’m 18 and have just started trucking locally, this opportunity sounds interesting since i’ve always wanted to be involved helping the military but was never able to join due to a health condition. I do understand you have to be 21 to start driving OTR but is it typical for a 21 year old to apply for this position?
The minimum age is 21 as it includes crossing state borders. It's not unusual to apply at that age, just keep in mind all additional requirements listed in the video.
It’s a tricky question. So refer to IUS Transportation Command, you will need to Register there and ask for assistance, from there you should be in the right direction
Absolutely, you get to see some of the most confidential freight in the industry! If you're ever looking to haul DOD again, feel free to apply: intelliapp.driverapponline.com/m/anderson?uri_b=mob_ia_anderson_2137246634
I've held HazMat and TWIC. Current owner op. Army vet too but this is a much more laborious security background check. Think I'd pass clearance but have never teamed, would have to find co-driver. Could I get by with a standard flatbed or would I need a step-deck? Sounds interesting though.
First, thanks for your service. Second, the type of equipment needed depends on the company you haul for and what they're allowed to haul. If you moved DOD with ATS, the company would supply you with the trailer needed.
I am very interested. I am a USMC Vet. with 24 years of experience. I have always wanted to jump on with a company doing this but just never knew where to start. Could anyone please give a vet a hand?
Of course! Fill out the quick app here -> www.drive4ats.com/dod-team-drivers A recruiter will reach out to you ASAP with next steps! Let me know if you need anything else!
Just filled out a quick application and so did my team driver. Interested in DOD Team driver position. We have been teaming for 1.5 years and both have over three years of OTR experience.
If youre going to have me and my partner haul 30k lbs of guns and explosives: am i allowed to carry a weapon to defend myself or am i gonna have to drive into the middle of Chicago or Detroit helplessly unarmed?
The US military is not going to allow an armed civilian into secure areas for delivery. There are many safety protocols in place to prevent looting and we don't foresee that being an issue.
looking to haul DoD? We have opportunities available. I'm a Veteran myself and our company President is a retired Brigadier General, US Army. We are strictly teams and over the road, we have new trucks and of course top of the line communications on board.
Thanks for reaching out! For DOD loads, you’ll need to run as a team due to the specific requirements of those hauls. Feel free to fill out your info at this link -> www.drive4ats.com/dod-team-drivers We’d be happy to discuss options with you!
@@OverTheRoadATS thanks for your response. Just to be more specific; the Box Truck is a non-CDL truck, so drivers are not required to obtain a CDL license to operate the truck. So, I do not have a CDL license. I only have a standard driver's license. So, if a non-CD position is available with ATS hauling DOD Freights, I am very interested in joining and will find a team driver to run the loads.
I have completed and SF86 as recent as 2016 I a company driver for ATS and would I be able to haul DOD freight as a solo driver? Also I’m thinking about moving to lease as soon this spring and would love to talk to someone concerning that as well. Great video thank you!
@@OverTheRoadATS do both need to have a class a license an hazmat or can 1 person a class b with hazmat endorsement an team with somebody with a class a license
Hey I am a small business owner in Washington state and I was looking to haul dod but I don’t know how to get into it is there a chance you could help me?
DOD truck drivers work in teams to keep each other safe and make sure they can drive non-stop. This helps them follow legal driving hours and ensures that military supplies are delivered quickly and without any problems.
I've been a CDL truck driver for more than a year now I have my hazmat I also have a TWIC card what is the procedures in a steps to get the next clearance
We require 2 years OTR experience, HM endorsements, and a clearance. For your situation, we recommend you begin the process of finding a co-driver. While doing that, you can come on with ATS Specialized and work while getting a clearance and finding a co-driver. Once you're in guidelines, you could move over to hauling DOD freight.
it ultimately depends on factors such as your qualifications, credentials, and the specific requirements of the freight company or government contracts. It's worth exploring and discussing directly with the companies to get a clearer picture. Here's an article that goes through some tips on the SP-86 form: blog.drive4ats.com/sf-86-security-clearance-disqualifiers
The smallest truck generally used for TPS freight is a sprinter truck w/sleeper. Is that what you're referring to or a Mercedes Sprinter van. Two very different vehicles with similar names.
That's great, Israel! You can either fill out this form: intelliapp.driverapponline.com/m/anderson Or call (866) 277-1033 to get in touch with a recruiter.
Yes, brokers can definitely work with DOD loads, but they must meet specific requirements. This includes obtaining the necessary clearances and adhering to stringent security measures. It's important for brokers to be familiar with these requirements to ensure compliance and secure handling of military freight. If you're considering this, it might be a good idea to reach out to a company experienced in DOD transportation for guidance.
Hey! Thanks for the question! I don't hear much about using cargo vans for DOD. Below is a list of some of the best trucking companies who haul military freight, which could be a good starting point to dive deeper. blog.drive4ats.com/best-trucking-companies-hauling-military-freight
Hi my name is RANA HASAN I have haze mate and tank endorsement I want do as contractor with DOD What king of truck they require and what about trailer, box , flat
It depends on which company you decide to work for. I'd reach out the recruiting department to find out what they require. (866) 277-1033 - recruiting@atsinc.com
I'm a Carrier and I want to haul DOD freight. What would it take? Also, Can twic cards be used instead of the other procedures described in this video? Thank you, Joe
It’s a lengthy process and hard to get through. There are multiple phases of clearance as well. Twic cards are completely different things and are much easier to get than security clearance to haul the freight and can not be used instead.
Me and my friend would do it... but there is no way we're going to have the courage to do it unarmed with no way to defend ourselves from looters or hijackers. We would need permission to bring our own firearms and armor.
We are sorry to hear that you were unsatisfied with our video, and that you are feeling burnt out. We create content to help all drivers succeed in the industry.
