Dodge caravan window stuck down! Door disassembly and regulator / motor replacement DIY! Dadmobile 

I, a mother of three youngs, watch this and just smile at the amazingness that is Dads fixing things. First my own Dad, who fixed all his own vehicles, and now my dear husband, who undoubtedly will be fixing this same issue in my beloved dodge caravan. Thanks. Just finished mine. Note to others. Be ready careful when disconnecting the little orange and purple plastic clips from the door latch rods. If you break them beyond usefulness, the only way to get new clips is to buy the entire $100 door latch. Mine was slightly damaged but I was able to use a zip tie to keep the purple clip from coming loose from the latch rod.

Thanks for the video! Saved a lot of money. I did however skip the part where you removed the whole inner panel. Did not want to mess with those rods that gave you a lot of trouble. I just had my wife swing it out slightly enough for me to get in their and change the track cable system! Works perfect now. Although i had to push down harder on the window than i thought to get it into the new clips. And for everybody wondering how to get the window up, all you have to do is take out the speaker and reach thru the hole and lift the window up.

Thanks for the vid. It helped a lot. I agree with the guys who didn’t pull the inner panel all the way out. Was able to do mine that way and avoids all the downfall of disconnecting the linkage to the latch.

For those rods that have you trouble, they should connect to the door actuator on the panel, before putting the panel on the door (Pink and orange clips first). Then you just make sure that they are pointing up when you put that entire panel on the door, and then you should only have to fuss with the white and yelo clips.

Yay! Got it done and your video helped a lot. Did not take have to take out the door lock linkage. Went right to O Reilly and got the part. Took a pic of the wiring before disassembly which helped. Saved me tons of money! Can i get you a Starbucks card or something as a way of saying thanks?

It's a 3-hour fix. Unless, you forget to put the door lock plug back in before you put the window in. If you forget to do that plastic manipulation with a pair of pliers. It's a $53 fix so do yourself.

Tried messing with my 05 regulator yesterday...nice to see 13 years later and it's still garbage just to get access in between the door panel such a pain... No wonder everything costs so much you break half the crap just getting in there ..

What are the tools needed for this? Why are you using a T20 instead of just a screw driver?

The only way to reconnect the lock coupler is to remove the outsie door handle then it only takes a hour vs 10 hrs trying to connect from the inside

So what was the initial problem? Obviously the window fell.... Why? How? What went wrong? What was broke?

The car manufacturers should have done a better job when making this part so they were more durable. Good video.

I have a dumb question and nowhere online seems to have the answer. I need to order my new motor and switch, but my window is stuck 4" down in the mean time and it's cold. Any idea how to manually force the window to stay up until I get the parts?

My 2017 Grand Caravan began doing some clicking noises at certain heights when the drivers side window was going up, only. The clicking sound began roughly about two months ago. The window still operated normally when traveling up. But the clicking sound was really bugging me. I had never had this happen to me. I thought that there may be a little pebble or debris in the track at this part of the guide making for the clicking sound. Anyway, Sept 19th 2023, the window went south. I was raising the window and it no longer wanted to run up. It also was beginning to slide down on its own. I was near my home when this happened and I opted to hold the window with my right hand and drove the 1/4 mile with my left hand. Now, I am in debate if I should fix the window, as you have illustrated. Or, should I removed all the paneling and inspect to see if it is actually the regulator. Nonetheless, thank you so much for this informative video. I'll get back to you and share what I decided to do.

********************** Sorry I missed addressing this in the video but my window was barely poking out and I was able to grab and pull it up. Wedged door apart a little to get my finger/tape onto the edge of it and was able to lift it and tape it up.

Im just having a really hard time unclipping the button from the door

What planet are you on when you state your window fell down in, but the very next frame it shows it all the way up? You’re just fing with me right? Mine frll down in and will not just magically be up again when I turned my head.
