Wow Thankyou so much! I was thinking of just replacing the whole entire AC compressor since it comes with all that....however I didn't want to deal with the Ac liquids which needed to be extracted........Sounds a bit messy. I have a 99 Dakota 5.2 Slt 4wd. Just last week.... It started smoking from that Spline area and noticed It won't spin while the belt was spinning! Pretty sure this is the Issue..... love this truck...only 102k miles on it and the Engine/Tranny is Strong. A true American Classic!!
How did it go for you? If you haven't done it yet. You can drain your liquids with a screw driver by pressing the low pressure a/c line if you need. It's a bit messy and smells like an unkept barn stable but it works.. I ended up taking my entire a/c condenser out to fit an extra cooling condenser for the transmission since the 42rle loves to over heat pretty easy.. so my a/c doesn't work at all.. never use a/c anyways so it's useless to me. Sounds like your pulley bearing is seized unfortunately.. I do love this truck also. Over 250,000 miles and I travel in it tons! As long as we keep the general parts i.e. alternator, water pump, steering pump, pulleys, coils packs, (although I've rebuilt my transmission) ect.. New and up to date.. I literally never have issues! I did have to resurrect this truck from the dead once I first got it, but once you get there.. its totally worth it! Cheers my friend and best of luck with your beast!
On my model, no. It's got a coolant/windshield fluid reservoir on top, lower fan shroud bolts to underneath. There's just a lot of space on my model luckily.
