In a every changing automotive industry one thing has not changed. The need for LARGE SUV's. Can the aging Dodge Durango Platform still keep up with the revised competition? stillwater.furymotors.com
I got the '21 srt durango in granite grey. Looks great. Cost 76k out the door, and that included the 8 yr/80k mile warranty for 3 grand. I get 14 mpg combined. I love driving it! Premium fuel at $5.50 a gallon is a little rough tho.
Really enjoyed the palpable enthusiasm coming thru the screen. It is genuine car enthusiast father son combos like this that make your videos worth watching!
Had one of these babies going out of town and had hella fun!!! Especially in sport mode I had the R/T soo much fun and thinkn about getting one of my own one day
It's a beautiful machine. The reason that they are using similar style hoods, is because the venting works so well to extract heat and were originally designed for the ACR vipers
I fully agree @ Performance on Wheels. I just bought the SRT Durango I've had it 4 months now and it's awesome. Love it. What bothers me is the fact Dodge has now put the SRT Front fascia and SRT Hood on the lower end models such as the R/T clear down to the V6 GT model. I mean come on...I spent 78K on mine fully optioned out. The GT can be had for around 28K and has zero need for the fully functional SRT hood. I just wish that Dodge would have left some things such as the hood strictly for the SRT model only. I mean at that price point what really sets the SRT apart from your everyday common lower end model Durangos? The 392 badging and the red brembo brakes is the only left to set the SRT model apart from the rest...and I believe I heard that Dodge is even offering the Brembo brakes as an upgraded option now on the R/T model..I could be wrong but that's what I heard...and if it's true that really angers me..Great Video & Review👍
This is my second time visiting your channel great work love the content. I just got my hands on the white one I must say I’m in love 😻. Thanks guys for the review keep up the good work
Yo Good review. Liked how u mentioned how u can get 6 - 6ft peep in the truck. My shortest kid 5'11. You brought out things that need to be updated as well as things that are well done. Keep up good work
Picking up my 2022 SRT Durango this week, it will be the last year for them from my understanding. Next year is the last for the hellcat. I got the destroyer gray with the red demon seats.
I love naturally aspirated big ohv V8s. This should be a very enjoyable SUV. GO U.S.A. Imagine this 392 with a few mods. Beginning with the WIDE BODY.🎯
Dodge is ruling right now because the Hemi are old style push-rod motors that have that unique sound that a multi cam motor cannot reproduce. It reminds me of the old foxbody 5.0s. When you put flowmasters on them they sound just like the modern Hemi with the flow master. Push-rod motors forever :) I am a Mustang guy however I do not like the new designs and the sound of the new 5.0 I would definitely switch to the Challenger 392 or Durango but it would have to be the F8 Green color. Looking forward to more videos guys.
F8 green FOR LIFE!!!!! Thank you! So glad you took the time to watch. I do agree with your statement but I definitely have herd some of the new 5.0s that sound pretty dang sweet in my opinion.
First thing I noticed was all the Minnesota license plates, was some of the footage from the Mystic Lake car show thing? I made the mistake of driving through that and the traffic was horrible
The bane of every sensible parent's existence: a 475 horsepower sporty SUV large enough to carry the extended family, with sufficient room for the Thanksgiving dinner groceries.
Charcoal Grey i would like with all black interior withe black suede seats but think one imrme getting is the Charcoal Grey with the red demonic seats! Wasnt a fan of the color for the seats as like the suede and i find would be more comfy but the red it is! Great review
It's alway the tall people who complain about rear trunk button placement not being on top. This beast needs a mid cycle refresh, a step up in interior and thing is perfect.
I like this car, the HP that i like, it looks ruggedly good, it has a strong engine, albeit, the engine isn't as loud as i think that it should be, but it is still decent sounding, and it's a manly car, and can get going when you want to do so. Plus, i can put a bicycle in the back of it too. and I want it. Now, how do i come up with $70K? What is the 0-60 time in this car?
Just Subscribed, love the video....but I disagree the rear DVD screens are a bit "Cheese-ball"...I actually think it's a clever design, they flip up to perfect eyesight, down to protect the screen and no fuss access to the the jacks, it doesn't look cheap but rather robust and a bit sci-fi-ish....this is NOT a BMW it's a Durango SRT and it plays the part well !!! Cheers !!!
Don xeon we had no issue with the screens. Cheese ball comment was specific to the HDMI/ aux ports on the sides of the seat. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!!
I think the auto down lift gate button is in a great spot, how is a shorter person or small child going to reach the button if it's on the lift gate itself? Good thinking FCA!
Yeah.... Not seeing eye to eye with you on this. Even a 4' tall individual could reach a button. There is something about standing under the door you are about to tell to fall on you that does not sound like a good idea. Regardless of safety stops. We do appreciate the comment and conversation along with you taking the time to watch!!
You never hear people who are short complain when the button is on the side. My mom hates that her button on her SUVs is on the top. No point to put button on top
They’ve mentioned this from the design team a few times - it’s on side in all their vehicles for accessibility. Def different opinions on this depending on who you are, just FYI.
If you compare this car to a BMW X5 oder a Mercedes GL AMG 63 this car is the best option to buy. I am looking forward to get my Durango SRT really soon. The ship has allready arrived in the german harbour, so only a few things to change until I get it from my Dodge dealer. In Germany you pay more than 100k for a BMW X5 or a Mercedes GL. So this car is in the same segment but affordable. I will drive it with LPG because of the horrible fuel prices in germany.
That is awesome to hear! I am sure you will stand out. We have a GLC 43 Coupe as my wife's daily. It is definitely a different kind of attitude in German vs American. Fun on both sides, just different. Excited for you! Subscribe.
I’ve been driving a Limited 3.6 for almost 4 yrs now at about 17,000 miles per year at roughly 20 mpg... LPG (Germany). No other SUV in this price range available with this comfort and performance. So the SRT is a great product, even with the flaws - if you want this performance.
This is a nice sporty ride with some performance.....I wish gas mileage was a tad better.....I'm interesting to see what the redesign will look like.....I heard it will be based off the Dodge Ram truck frame or something to that extent....if so, that maybe interesting😬🤔??
We have a Granite Metallic, no way you are paying MSRP for those unless you don't know how to haggle. Had a 2011 and it was great but obviously these are more fun.
Although this is a hella fun and mean looking suv, hows the reliability? Is it just somewhat good ? Because I don't mind if it even performs like a grand caravan because in my opinion, i had a grand caravan without major issues.
The reality is quite good. Although since this is a performance car you will be changing your oil more often, brakes pads much more often (which are Brembos so not cheep) as well as spending more on higher octane gas as well as going threw sets of tires more frequently. Dodge has had pretty reliable cars and I feel this is nothing you will need to worry about.
I’ve been looking at a 392 Charger cause the way these things sit,(stance) it also looks mean! I love when you can buy an American built vehicle that stands for what American Muscle is. I probably already said that but it’s true. Mopar is moving on the rite direction for sure...
2 questions 1. is there any difference between hp and drivetrain between the 2017 and 2019 models? 2. You know what the top end speed is on the Durango?
The top speed is 180mph. The same as the trackhawk actually, very impressive. No hp or drive train differences between 18 and 19. In fact nothing has changed since the SRT was first released.
Does the passengers other than the driver feel the braking of the car in casual use? Like do you feel the motion when it stops? Is it comfortable in that sense or does it sort of pull you to the front?
@@miketayolar1852 I was impressed with how smooth of a ride in all regards the srt has. Even in the sport setting it did not become so harsh that you would not want to drive it that way all the time. Even the big brembos can be modulated in a way to keep all the occupants glued to there screens and not wonder what is going on up front. It really is a great rig!
The Radford racing program uses these in Chandler AZ year round. It's 100f there today and 115f is forecasted in the 10 day. I think it they can run Hellcats and 392s all day long in that environment they should have no issue with where the rest of us live.
He said "the trunk can hold 4 or 5 grocery bags" lol. He is either terrible at eyeballing the size and length of things or my man has some pretty hefty grocery bags lol. Coming from a 2021 durango rt owner, it could hold a few more than 4 or 5.
It can hold it's own! no slips with snow tires. Super fun in the snow when you want it to be. Safe and reliable for sure! Best car I've owned does anything I want it to except talk!
Thats my biggest complain that we all have as dodge fans ... the cheap hard plastic 😂😂🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ but dodge knows how to get its buyers thats a easy fix
That’s how we get the performance cars at a affordable price. Now you can get plus package and Suede/Carbon package but the prices are starting to reflect those upgrades. Couple years ago, easily get a Base Hellcat 57k, now Base models start at 62500 when they started offering more. And if you want those high dollar options, you’re looking at over 70k easily. Just some insight
Can you believe this 5500+ lb 6.4L v8 with AWD and 475 hp and 470 tq has the same gas mileage as the much lighter and less powerful 2006-10 charger srt8 with rwd, weighs 4100+ lbs has a 6.1L v8 and has 425 hp and 420 tq? Crazy how that engine with less power, is smaller, and is carrying less weight and is RWD has the same 13/18/15 gas rating as an suv with more heft, is awd, and has a bigger motor. Now the 6.1 has a 5 speed auto with mds and the Durango has an 8 speed auto with mds, but even the 2012 charger srt8 had the larger 6.4 but got 14/23 and the car weighed 4400+ lbs
@@PerformanceOnWheels well if they rate 18 even if ur gentle on the pedal and 4 cylinders are activated, then that shows you how much of a gas hog the engine is. The 06-10 chargers - especially with spoilers and blacked out srt wheels and lights looked beautiful and aggressive, but that gas mileage is not worth the performance of 0-60 in 4.8 sec (which a modern rt charger or chally can do when done right). The only thing the charger srt8 had at the time was the clout of the most powerful 4 door and the top speed of 175 mph
It's all about engine tuning and drivetrain restrictions ... this 6.4is detuned from 575 to 475 for emissions... simple retuned you can pull 600hp with a set of headders and retuned so easy... and could slap on a 3liter supercharger on it and can make pre set tunes at 700 800 onup to 1200 fairly easy
@@jungleorfeed8106 Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment to help improve the growing of our channel! Please be sure to like and subscribe and we hope to see you back in the comments when we get our hands on the 2020 Durango!! Have a night night sir
Yeah take those chrome out put something more high quality. I went to see this in person, so far i like it, im not a fan of those chrome though thats the only thing i dont like. But overall is rated like to me. Getting this beast in 2021
@@PerformanceOnWheels I agree with everything else you are saying. Growing up in a Mopar family as a kid in Texas I have a special place in my heart for Mopar!
That thing burns gas like a jumbo jet reaching the end of the runway. You couldn't get 12 mpg out of this if you dropped it out of a cargo plane and refueled on the way down.
If you're worried about gas milage then don't buy an SRT product. That was the last thing on their minds when they created SRT. With SRT it's not about miles per gallon... it's about smiles per gallon!!!
The rear view is lame. Looks like a caravan. Wiper should be tucked under upper fairing. Glass does not seem to open separately from rear hatch. Im 6-1 and I sat in it and it seemed too small. I went with a model X which will smoke that and I wont be living at gas stations with 9 mpg
Way, way, way to expensive for what it is. Better choice is a Scat($42,000+) for almost half the price. This $80,000+ price point is what the auto industry is pushing. The only way for the average Joe to buy one is by taking out a 84 month "car mortgage". What a joke.
