I put the same ball joint on my 2014. The axle hits the zerk fitting and ended up ripping the cv boot. Had to take everything back apart and grease and plug the ball joint. Sealed ball joints from now on for the lowers
Great video but completely forgot to follow the torque specs of the Tie rod end nut, the Upper and Lower ball joint end nut and the Axel hub nut. KNOW YOUR TORQUES to do a job without future failures and wheel bearing failures. Over and under torques are not safe and lead to more failures. Other than that, the job was perfect. (Impacts are not torque wrenches)
That grease nipple ..where you got it pointed...more than likely torn the cv boot to shit...hate those lower ball joints..no bloody room for grease gun to fit...shoulda pointed the grease nipple to the back...little( not much) more room there
I have an 09 2WD Ram 1500 with 235K miles that needs ball joints. The ball joints look like they are fixated in place not to be removed by a press. I have been told that I will need to replace the control arms, is this correct? Seems crazy to replace the entire CA for a dang ball joint.
