I’m a Mets fan as a born & bred New Yorker but as I am half-Japanese from my Mom I like to follow the Japanese imports. The Dodgers have the much revered Shohei Ohtani & much hyped pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto both of whom signed huge contracts. The Cubs have solid outfielder Seiya Suzuki & pitcher Shota Imanaga who flew under the radar. Imanaga doesn’t have the filthy stuff Yamamoto has but he is a pitcher & he doesn’t have to rely on velocity which can be bad for a pitcher’s longevity. Finesse pitchers can pitch for longer because they are less likely to get hurt & can pitch well in their late 30’s because they don’t have to rely so heavily on velocity. I think Imanaga was a great signing & a great value. He has shown he can pitch & his stuff is better than anticipated. I think the Cubs got a steal. I wanted to Mets to grab him after they lost out on Yamamoto. Also, Suzuki is still young & adjusting to MLB. I think the best is yet to come for him. The Cubs should be very solid. The Dodgers have shown that despite a huge payroll & big names, baseball is a humbling & difficult game & those big names don’t mean easy wins because it’s a long season & it takes the entire roster. Good luck Cubs & Dodgers. 🙂👍My Mets are finally waking up.
