One of the many reasons DCC pulled Dreamcatcher out of Mixnine is probably due to how much they were edited out of the show in the first place, despite Jiu being ranked so high from the start. Jiu even got onto the debut bus from her audition yet Dreamcatcher's audition wasn't even aired!

It wasn't only Dreamcatcher. There was also Young Woojin, the member of Happyface's D1CE, the boy group that was represented by the company. Woojin was the #1 artist, and one of the winners of Mixnine. However, YGE tried to alter the contract and literally "steal" the winners from their companies with 3 year full time contracts. The companies and Happyface refused this. This ended up in a lawsuit and the Mixnine winners never getting their debut. FInally, there is the video of Young (YG) going to Happyface's HQ (as per Mixnine's concept) and berating all the members of D1CE on air, except maybe for Woojin. He also treated Dreamcatcher in a similar way, especially SuA, who he didn't like. But he did like JiU and placed her in the debut bus, and three other members, because he had to. This powertrip and the total creepiness towards some female participants continued throughout the show. And the ratings were so low, that YGE took to opportunity to bail out of their obligations. In the meantime, Happyface pulled Dreamcatcher, including JiU, and sent them to their tour in South America. D1CE's Woojin remained, because he was really going well.

I as much as anyone would like DC to get a win and get some local success and acknowledgment. These days however, I just want to keep supporting the girls and the company and hope they continue doing what they want. There is a theory that Happy Face Entertainment had a bad relationship with YG Entertainment due to the Mixnine incident, and that the score was manipulated by YG Entertainment. Currently, the case is closed with YG's apology.
I've heard that before and it has always seemed like a stretch to me. Forcing SBS to do something like that would require a LOT of influence. Think about it. If it ever came to light that they purposefully sabotaged a group their reputation would take a serious hit. Yes, they did fudge the numbers and it did come to light and their rep did take a hit, but would they have been willing to take that hit for someone else. It's far more likely that someone, or even a group of people at SBS didn't like DC, for whatever reason, and decided to sabotage them on their own. What would SBS have to gain for sabotaging a group for YG? Did YG have that type of influence with SBS at the time? Didn't YG boycott SBS at one point (or am I thinking of a different show / network?). Yeah, if you only consider the YG - Mixnine - Dreamcatcher connection, it kind of makes sense. But if you think a little deeper it really doesn't add up.

Hmmm. Mera likes to be a bit melodramatic with her "narratives". An updated version of this guide would have to recognise the exponential growth during 2020 and 2021 to where DC are now one of the best supported groups internationally. I'd take all this with a huge pinch of salt.
And there was never any real danger of the group getting disbanded. Sure, there was a rough patch for the girls when Minx failed. No one likes to be told that they aren't good enough. But the company almost immediately shifted gears and started working on the Dreamcatcher concept. They literally announced the disbandment and the rebranding on the same day.
What people should really do is boycott these conglomerates shows like the The Show that will obviously support big firms coz only the big firms can give financial aids to the makers that in turn is used to make such shows and remunerate the people behind it.
