All BMW drivers are a bit of a bellend.

Point on the licence is the killer, insurance premiums skyrocket. And the points remain for 4 years, so you have multi-year financial cost.

Perhaps the fines/sentences/points is reflective of the driving record. For someone's first offense, they get a lighter penalty, for further offenses the penalty is larger...that would make sense to me. Also, different jurisdictions could place higher penalties for specific offenses in a specific areas if there are more accidents/fatalities, trying to lower those numbers.

In Australia it's considered an act of homosexuality to move into lane 1. They just sit in the middle or outer lanes being passed on all sides thinking that they must be doing the right thing because everyone is liking up behind them copying them.

Probably didn’t submit the 5 minutes of them stuck in that lane before the bmw starts tailgating them. That car towing could’ve moved over too. Brake checking was a tosser thing to do but I understand the frustration

We can assume he has dual cameras as many do, and it was the rear driver not the one in front that was the issue.

They certainly aren't when most people's first thought is 'I''ll send that into RU-vid'. They prefer the likes and comments from people watching rather than report someone for dangerous driving. I despair when I watch dashcam videos.

The uploading speed can vary on computer and hard drive. Normally takes me around 5 to 10 minutes to do a online submission via the met police. Its worth it in my eyes especially when people think its okay to jump a queue or put others in danger

Why didn't they return to lane 2 after passing the boat?

@problemchild1976 yeah the one that probably pulled in to the 3rd lane at 50mph then took over 20 seconds to even see the boat.

@@PJ-om2wq Probably because they had no time to do so, given the speed in which the BMW jumped into that lane. Had they started moving over it would have caused an accident.

@@DaydreamBelief I don't agree. They could have pulled back into lane two pretty much as soon as they had passed the boat. They could have had their indicator on and started to move over, even if very slightly. It's about messaging an intention. The message that they actually sent was, I'm asleep in the fast lane with my brain turned off and I'm staying here. What the BMW driver did was wrong, especially the brake check. Apart from anything it probably wasn't great for the guy towing the boat either, which won't stop like a car and could risk a snake or jacknife, but, the driver who spent half an eternity in the fast lane and showed no intention of getting out of it, wasn't that great either.

But there was a massive gap before the car with the boat to move over. Well over 20 seconds. He's not driving fast as you have pointed out by hardly going faster than the car towing which is limited to 60mph.

I always like to look for the ultimate source of any issues when it comes to exchanges like this. As far as I'm concerned, the driver with the boat is the cause of everything here. They were hogging the middle lane for no reason. The cam car was able to move to lane 2 and then lane 1 safely after passing the towing car so the towing car had no reason to be in lane 2. Therefore, the cyclist was at fault.

@@imfuctifino If that was the case then they would have just driven onto the hard shoulder. Regardless, this is irrelevant. The dashcam driver, for once, is driving appropriately and within the law and nothing is wrong with their driving in this case.

Even with Bluetooth a phone can still be a dangerous distraction. My phone goes off when I get in the car and stays off until I get out. In the meantime any one who wants me can leave a message.

Here in the uk if you dont say who was driving if you lent your car, you get the punishment if its your car

Yep, I'd love to hear the rationale for some of the punishments or lack of punishments. I got sent on a speeding awareness course for doing 35 in a 30. Fair enough. But I caught a Volvo jumping a red light and he only got a warning letter. But then another red light jumper I caught did get one of the following: course, points or court (South Yorkshire Police never specify which).

@@warren1134 I agree there's no offence at driving over chevrons with broken lane markings as in this case. While they appeared to be going quite fast, it's tricky to quantify their speed just by looking at it (the cammer did seem to be going pretty slowly too), so without measurement you can't prove their speed (as you say). Possibly as the overtake was on a right-turn filter could be classed as a bit too risky (although they were well past the cammer by that point).

Prosecute by themselves if theres video so wont need the uploader, like if your family member assaulted you and ot was on cctv but you didnt want to press charges the police just press charges anyway as theres video evidence, so the police will prosecute without the need of the driver being a witness, i guess some forces just want the info anyway

@@yeahme8367 I submitted some footage to Lancashire police last week, they insisted on all my details and that I agree to attend court if required or they said they will not proceed. Even though they have clear rear & front camera footage of the drivers face, vehicle and overtaking on double solid white lines. They shouldn't need me.

Dashcams appear to only be for drivers whose own driving standards fall short but who think everyone else is at fault

Well it's always overtaking at some point! But how long is acceptable? It would have been about 20:39:30 when the cammer passed the original black car and well over 24 seconds later before he caught up with the car+boat. That's too long. Also the car+boat should have been in lane one and need a letter too as there is nothing using it. The BMW managed to change lanes, increase their speed to pass and change lanes all in 4 seconds. Yet without needing to increase their speed the cammer couldn't manage it in over 20 seconds? Yes at the end could manage to change lanes in a timely manner. Yes the BMW driver deserves the points and fine but the cammer needs a driving course because of the lack of consideration for other road users.

I agree totally. He hogged that lane for too long. I timed him and it took 28 seconds to reach the car towing the boat.

@@Donkavision-sx4js Criticism of one driver, doesn't necessarily mean you condone or excuse the actions of the other driver in the incident, mention could also be made of the driver in the car towing the boat, lane 1 seemed to be very clear after they overtook the HGV.

Sort of agree with you as there's no hedgerow so quite a good view around the bend. However the Audi did cut in a bit tight on the cyclist. Cameras can often not portray the full story of what's happening.

No, in this case the right hand lane is lane 3, like lane 2 it is to be used for overtaking slower moving traffic which once done you should then return to the left hand lane if its clear.

The cam car was in lane 3 because they were already overtaking a long vehicle in lane 2.

The Cam car was overtaking, but with only 1mph speedifference it seems. He could easy move to the left to let the BMW pass. I understand the frustration from the BMW, but I do not approve his actions afterwards! My oppinion is when you overtake, push the throttle more and overtake.
