It's like moving on after a break up because everyone says that's what you're supposed to do, but there's a weird disconnect when you aren't fully ready for it. You miss genuine moments with people who could probably be wonderful and you lose little bits of yourself everytime you force something. I discovered this song when I was in a bad place mentally, and just a few days before my boyfriend left me. I had done something that hurt him bad, and this song truly expresses the void you feel when someone you love don’t want anything to do with you anymore. “Put me in a car, I just want to go home. Put me in a bath, I’ll forget you are gone. Oh how could it be anyone but you?” Really aligned with the feeling I had when I went to sleep just to shut down and not feel, and how home suddenly didn’t feel like home. I would party and have fun to not think of him, and then in the end it would all come tumbling back at me, and I would just want to go home and sleep because having fun suddenly had made the pain so much worse. Anyways, thank you Dodie and Hazel for making this absolutely amazing song! This is a true piece of art ❤️

This is a really good depiction of trying to have sexual encounters while still having feelings for a previous lover. It hit me harder than I expected. I’ve been dealing with it myself, the last year. It might not be completely obvious as dodie is the narrator, but when this happens, you feel a lot of guilt to the person involved. It’s a big mess!

I don't know how you manage to convey such specific emotions and situations with every song in such an accurate and beautiful way, dodie, but this one literally sounds like the way it feels to get tipsy to loosen up and make out with a random stranger at a club just to forget that your emotions and the world exist for a little while.
