I lived in Dar-es-salaam in the early to late seventies as a refugee from Uganda...after a while my family and I forgot we were refugees...we just quickly assimilated and became Tanzanians...initially we faced hostilities from the locals but after awhile we were the most popular kids in the neighbourhood. I think Dodoma was chosen as the Capital because It was determined it would be easier to defend against hostile nations notably from a hostile apartheid South Africa. Tanzania was part of the "Front Line States" along with Zambia and others. Love your videos bro!
Thank you for showing the statue of "mwalimu" that came to see me at Ngurdoto Crater, now part of Arusha National Park. I did not know who he was at the time, but he had heard that I was opening the new road to the northern rim of the crater, and that I spoke the local language. So he walked through the mountain forest for about half a mile. He simply introduced himself as "Mimi Julius Nyerere" extending his hand to shake mine. He never said he was the President of the country, and had a normal chat. This showed that he was a humble man, besides being intelligent,
Thank you so much for this nice walking tour of Dodoma. I am Burundian and I lived in Tanzania as a refugee from 1977-1982 and 1984/1985. I was based in Dodoma and I worked in Kahama, Nzega and Kyerwa districts. Around 1980, I saw president Nyerere (in his trademark sandals) at the Jamhuri Stadium (I think a cultural troupe from Uganda came to thank him for his role in ousting Ugandan dictator Idi Amin). When the body of the late president Dr John Pombe Magufuli was driven through the different neighborhoods of Dodoma, I realized how the city has changed. I can't recognize a single building or street. I recently saw the pictures of the beautiful presidential palace at Chamwino. Whenever I hear the old songs Sina makosa or Shahuri yako, it reminds me of the good times at Swai Bar? eating delicious roasted chicken and kachumbali. I always will be grateful to the Tanzanian government that gave me a good job and to the Tanzanian people.
I’m telling you Tanzania is a special country. There is an empire coming to Tanzania and a surname that a population of people have mainly in Tanzania (some in South Africa) is going to be known to the world.
Lived in Dar in the late 80's and early 90's as a kid. Visited Morogoro a lot (beautiful) and Arusha, but never got to Dodoma. Maybe one day, if I'm blessed. The most beautiful country in the world.
Hi Wemba Thanks for the walk around Dodoma, changed so much since I was last there in 1990, when it was more like a dusty village. We even had a interview from the local Dodoma news paper as we were traveling by bicycle. We met up with some missionary pilots MAF from the USA. Looked like there were plans to make a big airport for Dodoma.
Welcome to Tanzania and enjoy a lot more. Here is where you can find Olduvai gouge, the highest mountain in Africa (Mt. Kilimanjaro), beautiful Zanzibar Iceland, beautiful shores, beautiful national parks, and reserves. Welcome
Thanks Wemba for visiting our capital city. Just a small correction though..the name of our Father of Nation is pronounced "Nye..re..re". Not 'Ne..re..re' . The first three letters are pronounced together. Asante sana, keep the work going
I'm planning to retire to Tanzania from the UK this year. What green spaces are there in Dodoma to chill out if I go for a walk? Would love a video just on parks and other green spaces.😊 Great videos so far👍🏿

People, time to show some pride. This isn't the Washington dc of Tanzania, it's Dodoma, the pride of Tanzania. Let's not compare and glorify other cities.
As a proud African why are you comparing African cities to Washington or your last clip Michigan ... this is Africa not USA admire what Africa is do not compare to USA this country Tanzania is a beautiful country period
I fully agree with you , I don't understand why is this dude comparing Dodoma with Washington USA ! This is beautiful Tanzania , uniquely African ! Enjoy
I left Tanzania in 1975 .i think much has changed in Tanzania but I think the capital should be clean. Take an example of Kigali which is extremely clean. Do not Agee people selling in front of beautiful shops.
There is new construction going on along iringa Road that is expected to be completed by mid of April and is expected to accommodate all street hawkers and other small businesses.'Its called machinga(hawkers) complex '
This is a beautiful place but why would you describe it as "The Washington DC of Tanzania? Do you know that Washington DC is the place where the biggest criminals in world works and live?
The heading is wrong, Dodoma is Dodoma Tanzania and Washington is Washington America, Tanzanians wont bow to any American prophets as we are all intelligent and baptised
