music can sound distorted and nasty and still be "good" music. A group with a sound like 100 gecs is always going to divide people. but the fact its so love it or hate it makes the people who love it, love it a lot. their music is not an inside joke but it is covered in irony. You would probably be more into their album they dropped last year. It's not as all over the place, but it still shows their humor. Also if you like Ringtone, the remix with Charli xcx, rico nasty and kkb is way better imo
You should definitely react to 10,000 gecs,it’s way better in my opinion as a 100 gecs fan 1,000 gecs is not a bad album at all, it just got popular when people where bored and it became a meme to hate on 100 gecs
lol you need to go into 100 gecs with very specific expectations to appreciate them. don't expect it to be "good." it's actively trying to not sound conventionally good but that doesn't mean its bad. hyperpop is a really good name for the genre imo. think of it as taking the conventions of pop, especially cringey, guilty pleasure pop and pushing it to such an extreme that it becomes experimental and abrasive. it's not entirely a joke but it's very unserious.
