I agree. I am on month 5 with 20mg daily, and the width of my nose is smaller than whenI started. In my teen ages I used to have pimples just in the T zone, but my nose had the worst part, probably severe acne. I had large pores and now they are normal haha. Not only is this a potentially dangerous idea to circulate, but I find it really sad/concerning that Tik Tok's main age demographic is full of young people and _this_ is the type of content that can trend. It's like wow, social media has really done a number on people's self-confidence

People are less likely to think critically when they’re young because they’re still really young. I think that’s a huge part of it honestly. Critical thinking skills seem far and few between these days as it is, yet these particular skills are more important than people often realise or remember. It just doesn’t seem to come as naturally for some folks; many people actually intuitively lack them. A of people are very easily influenced and do not learn to think for themselves, because they fail to consciously recognise that they’re prone to such behaviours and thus may cause issues in the long term. I very much agree that it’s also a lot to do with social media as a whole, for sure.

But now that I have been on Accutane for around 2 months I genuinely think it changes the “mass” of your nose. Accutane saved my skin. I didn't have severe acne, but my skin would scar very easily and my acne was resistant to other treatments. A low dose fixed my skin and allowed me to start working on correcting the scarring I was developing that had the potential to be disfiguring. I remember being so nervous when I was taking it for the first few weeks, so I wish people would realize that fear mongering does have actual real life consequences. So many people write it off immediately because of the stories out there.

It’s also refreshing to be delivered content that addresses us as intelligent adults! I think a number of RU-vidrs are reluctant to speak seriously for fear of alienating a (really) young audience. Perhaps with TikTok taking the lion’s share of that audience we’ll see more “grownup” content from other creators...🤔. Anyway, love from Brisbane, Australia. Chaq x

I suffered from severe cystic acne for many years and tried everything I could to sort it out. I eventually went on accutane for 4 months and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. Whilst I did experience side effects- the skin on my lips would peel constantly, I was stable and much much happier because finally something was working. I am really grateful to Dr Dray for addressing some of the deeply unhelpful stigma surrounding accutane- even my own Dr was guilty of this. My dermatologist was really great and I was monitored very closely throughout. I am 5 years post treatment and whilst I still do get a flare of pimples around the time of period, my skin is so, so much better.

Another reason people demonize Accutane is because of the very visible and uncomfortable side effects. People know that when you start Accutane, your face will be raw, red, and flakey. At first, it feels like your face is falling off. And it’s true. But uncomfortable doesn’t mean unsafe. That’s how the drug is expected to work. It subsides after a a month or two, and constant application of a good moisturizer goes a long way.

Thalidomide was never approved for use in the US for what it was first marketed for, that is, for pregnant women to take for nausea while pregnant. Even though Canada, and many other countries approved Thalidomide, specifically for pregnant women to use, America had a very sharp FDA (Food and Drug Administration) official (a woman as it so happens), who would not approve this drug. She had knowledge of teratogen drugs, and insisted that Thalidomide needed more testing before being approved for use by pregnant women.

I took Accutane in 1995/1996. My hair fell out badly. My joints hurt bad! I was super dry , but man does it work. After my second batch my skin was soo good. People think I am 20 years younger than I am now. I think it’s because I was so oily then. I had a plantar wart on my toe that was there prior for years and it got rid of that too. I remember looking down and it was gone.

Same way a felon can take a lethal dose of fentanyl and die from the drug while the police officer is performing a trained maneuver, and the media assumes not only that the cops actions were wrong, but also that the cops actions were due to race. 12:45 SOOO TRUE. To combat this, I see doctors that make a disclaimer or tag other specialties to chime in. For ex: a follower asked a OBGYN on Instagram how to mitigate scars post C section. The OBGYN didn't know, so she tagged her fellow derms on Instagram. One derm replied silicone sheets + sunscreen. I love when specialties mingles to create the best care.

On month 4 of 10mg every other day isotretinoin for typical sebaceous hyperplasia . I have mature skin. My skin looks amazing. My nose does look better with reduced pores and possibly thinner skin. I’m enjoying the SH prevention and the anti aging benefits. Even skin , bouncy skin smaller pores. It’s amazing. I only have dry eyes occasionally. No other side effects.

The shine from oily nose and tea zone area gives your nose an illusion that it is bigger, at least that’s what I think. And accutane is God sent when it comes to controlling oily skin and maintaining matte skin, maybe that’s why you see a smaller nose per se.

Thalidomide is called "Softenon" in Belgium. And it was a huge crisis over here. People who still remember it vividly, you're not gonna "sell" that medication to. That is the reason why my mom, in the early 70s, did not want to take *any* medication during pregnancy. She just would not risk it. Now, my mom had severe migraines, as did I (hormonal). Now that we are both in menopause (I just recently) the migraines have gone, but all this to say, she walked around with Vicks vaporub on her temples with a bandana multiple times, even at her job. It was very rough for her, but I am hugely thankful!

I dont use tiktok, but in a whatsapp group of acne someone said there was a video of tikotk saying this. I experienced 4 months before knowing the existence of a video (or videos?) that my nose is smaller taking 20mg daily. I used to have extremelt oily nose and forehead since I remember lol. So I strongly believe it dependes of the type of skin nose you had before taking isotretinoin. But people just cant say it does not shrink the nose, because some people like me have experienced it.
