I took unflavored collagen in my coffee everyday. I started for aging reasons, but a wonderful side effect was it healed my knee. I have bone on bone on my left knee. I was dragging my left leg around. Now I have no knee pain at all.

I read that alot, it doesn't really do much for the skin but people are healed from joint pains and walk without pain again and things like that. Seems a good anough reason to try because the doctor only gives me painkillers.

People with severe insomnia can't "focus on getting good quality sleep." If you can't sleep go to the doctor. Insomnia is very difficult to treat and often has many underlying medical causes such as hyperthyroidism, high cortisol, or perimenopause.

Dr. Dray thank you for the video. One thing I would educated women on is the importance of Vitamin D3 and low levels being linked to having a higher rate of developing an autoimmune disease Multiple Sclerosis. I am 44 yrs old and since I was a teenager wore SPF daily throughout the year, hats as well. Minimized my time in the sun. With vanity loved people's reaction that they assumed I was ten years younger. Than in March 2021, I had went paralysis from T4 bilateral to my toes and diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The Neurologist explained to me several evidence based studies believe to be a link in the prevention of MS is keeping your Vitamin D level up. Mine was 12 ng/ml at the time of dx. I know take daily Vitamin D3 with K2 for better absorption and 3 months later it's 44 ng/ml. I agree 100% about sun protection however, in retro spect I wish I would of been on a Vitamin D3 supplement. Thank you to all that read this.
@AnneAndersonFoxiepaws

Its not just K2 for better absorbtion, if you dont take K2 the cholecalciferol will end up in your arteries and kill you.

Going through menopause as we speak. I am 48 and started getting issues age 47 going on 48, so this has been going on about a year now. I will be 49 this year. My mom was 42-44. 10 years later she had really bad osteoporosis due to early onset menopause, and was put on bisphosponates for that, a calcium supplement was no longer gonna touch that. She is 75 and has needed to take it long-term because she is that low, it has gotten better but it was actually discovered too late. If anyone out there is going through early onset menopause, get a simple bone density test done on the regular as of a couple years later. It will save you if you are not going on HRT! My mom had already shrunken and gotten a "hump"-like posture. That is when I noticed something was up & told her. She, thankfully, had it checked out when she went for a pap smear and the doctor also noticed!
@maritakochis7102
@maritakochis7102 Год назад
That’s the importance of vitamin d3 and K2 ( mk7). I’m not sure why doctors are not recommending a vitamin d test for everyone. I’ve been taking it for 5 years now , got my levels up to 70 and all my aches have disappeared and I haven’t had a cold or Covid or flu ! I’m 64 and have never felt better ! I hope your Mom can continue to improve but maybe it would be a good idea to get those levels checked. Every little bit helps.
@amixeblu
@amixeblu Год назад
@@maritakochis7102 She does so on the regular. She is currently resting with a broken foot and the x-rays still indicated "osteoporosis" / it is better for her, but she still never can get off the bisphosphonates. Vitamin D can only do so much when you actually have osteoporosis!

I agree about staying out of the sun i quit in my early 20s & i think wearing sunscreen is very important also i do see a difference when i eat lots if leafy green vegetables & eat fruit & 100% fruit juice. One thing i will say is cutting out coffee & switching healthy teas like matcha & oolong tea makes a huge difference. For some reason coffee seems to dehydrate my skin! It’s so true. My family complained about me for being too fair and not being healthy at all. I avoided sun all these years due to migraines but I took their advice - I wanted to look less fair so I started exposing myself to the sun these two years and I didn’t use sunblock religiously like before. Then I got tanned but I noticed I started looking old. 😖😖😖 I have compared my old pictures to the latest pictures, my skin has changed from a darker shade to a lighter shade, my wrinkles especially under my eyes look obvious and there more side effects due to sun exposure. Anyway, I will try avoid the sun as much as I can now.

Dr. Dray, you are so thorough and knowledgeable it is very interesting to listen to you. I appreciate all the info on aging. I am 60 and people think I am late 40’s. I don’t wear sunscreen, some in my makeup, however; I have been using quality/same makeup for 45 years, do not sunbath my face and always wear a hat. I sleep well and eat fairly decent. I have a little sagging of jowls but I have no wrinkles. I did start taking a collagen supplement too early to see improvement if any to be had. My mom has used same makeup for 45 years and she is 80, and people think she is late 60’s, little jowl sagging and no wrinkles. Some may be genetics, no sunbathing the face and excellent quality makeup line and never went to bed wearing makeup.

I started taking collagen powder in my tea because I thought it would cure my acne (before I found Dr. Dray). I don’t think I’ve seen any changes in my skin, but I’m convinced it contributes to my hair growth and my nail health.

Do you spend a lot of time on the phone at night? I did and what I do now is put my phone away about 1-2 hours before getting in bed. I read a book instead and I also put the volume down on notifications at night. Before I would hear the phone and get up to look at it and I couldn't sleep afterwards. Now I wait to look at it in the morning when I wake up. This has helped me.

I've heard on another channel that sauerkraut has the most Vitamin C of all foods. It even surpasses all the citrus fruits. I haven't looked into this but I've been eating around a cup a day usually 5 times a week. I can't say what effect it's had on my health because I made so many beneficial changes in my life over a short amount of time, around 7 months.

I have worn sunscreen daily since about the 4th or fifth grade and my mother was always good about making me wear sunscreen when I was out in the sun, which really wasn't that often. Even so, I began to develop skin issues at 24, which was difficult and I have never really been happy with my skin since. In my late twenties I was diagnosed with Vitamin D definciency and I think it must have been quite severe because I felt achy throughout my body. After my Vitamin D levels were restored, I began to feel much better. I have always wondered, though, how to balance the need for Vitamin D with skin protection since they say you need to be in the sun for your body to make Vitamin D. Also, spending some time outdoors has a psychological benefit, at least for me. I would love to hear your thoughts on this in a future video. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I always enjoy your videos!

Agreed. I wish there was more nuance in her opinions on sun exposure. Also there are varying skin complexions and UV rays are different at different latitudes. I imagine the damage is far worse for someone with light skin living in California than someone like me in vancouver where there is no sun. I need all the sun I can get here ! Also became vit D deficient from living here the last 4 years, have seen immense benefits overall since taking 4000 IU per day for about 3 months now

Sun is life. Our body needs it for optimal health. It regulates our sleep which is mentioned as being important. But no mention of how to get that sleep. Check out circadian rhythm and how light exposure regulates it. Also Vitamin C is very important.

@@Kelly-pp1et If uv-radiation can't penetrate the skin because of sunscreen, it won't produce Vit.D

@@Kelly-pp1et sorry but i don't believe it. Show me those studies! Of course, a very little bit of radiation penetrates through sunscreen but far not enough. So you will have to supplement Vit.D! After two weeks in sunny Spain wearing sunscreen i had a severe Vit.D-deficiency.
