Analog doesn't suck, I use both off and on, depending on where I fly and what's around me.

I'd honestly go straight to digital if i could afford it or was just starting out. Analogue is better than not being able to fly at all, it'll have a place until the cost difference is closer. Converting all my drones when they fly well is not worth it for me personally. Love your work!

After 3 years - I flew digital for the first time just a few days ago. I should not have done that.

I fly analog with a rapid-fire module. But I always power my camera and vtx through an LC filter. It makes the video so much better.

Another thing to consider is that location can make or break analog. I live out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere in New Mexico and I get great video basically everywhere. Some of my planes with hefty VTXs have video that's so good it looks digital even at a couple miles out.

Best part about analog, the gear you had years ago, work with the gear you buy today.

I was hardcore analog since '18 and just went digital a few weeks ago. I wish I could have got HDZero but that's the biggest problem with it - you can't get it. I wish more manufacturers would pick up the platform. It feels SO MUCH more responsive than anything else.

Analog is part of the game and 90% of my flights. I also have 3 drones for vista and 1 walksnail, but only analog gives me "this trip", which I like.

A T-Rex and a Unify Pro 5g8 v.3 is all I need for most situations! 😃

all my small drone is analog (or hdzero/WS soon), all my big drone is dji digital. It is about the size of drone, effiency, noise level, weight, flight time, flying purpose. you choose the right VTX type. saw some guys just stick o3 into everything making me laugh 😂😂 you can dosent mean it is the best configuration, most regular person wont do that we count every gram for whoops

I agree. Love analog and trust it. But did just find out on my 03 the penetration is way better either without the rc also in the air or on a 10v pad from 9v. I changed both things and its actually impressive now.

Gotta say I agree largely with your observations especially about precision freestyle maneuvers with sketchy reception sucking, but I went dji when I decided it was time to transition from analog and picked up the fpv kit with the v2 goggles and installed vistas on a couple of 5 inch freestyle quads, but I’ve found I have problems with the ultra hi def picture that system delivers too. I figure I’ll get used to it over time because although I’m intrigued about your mentioning similarities between hd0 and analog I refuse to invest in another platform at this point so I end up flying analog 90% of the time. For me it’s fine. Btw 3 1/2 inch Grinderino sounds good.

I started out on analog and even though it was okay, it wasn't impressive. Later I went to DJI and found it much more enjoyable to fly, to a point. I didn't like the cloudy blocks when signal degradation happened , and the latency just kept F'ing with my mind. Then HDZero came out and it fixed the cloudy blockiness and latency. Obviously it's not as clear as DJI, when DJI has a clear picture and is not cloudy, but HDZero Digital enough to were I get an amazing picture that is responsive. Been on HDZero ever since and 11 out of 12 of my quads are HDzero, after converting my last DJI quad. I still have one 4 inch LR quad on analog, but I'll be converting that to HDZero once the new 20x20 1w VTX comes out...

Haha I love your videos freaking hilarious and informative. I left FPV back in 18 and just got back into and I have to say I feel like analog frustrations were part of the reason. With Digital flying is so much more enjoyable.

I knew it, told every one I hated my sharkbyte initially but after flying it for two weeks straight and trying analogue again (one battery pack) I just couldn't do it anymore.

I got a whoop and goggles with Walksnail Avatar, seems fine, I only have issues with my Jumper T-Pro v2 and ELRS

Something about the analog picture i really like is how the colours pop and seems to be more contrast

Ive since lost interest but the mini drone i got my kid for Christmas completely sparked that interest back so i am starting to put together pieces for me to start flying again. All my whoops were analog until walksnail and HDzero. All my bigger ones were vista. But might make some bigger one walksnail maybe a HDzero one.

Really it boils down to the one thing.. If you fly analog you will be absolutely fine.. But the moment you switch, youre done... Its just a better experience.. You will hate going back..

The Whoop was only on 100mw it seems and it had a better camera and vtx, than that Speedybee 5" drone you were flying at first. I think analog is fine, once you find the right antenna combo's it seems. I have both a few digital freestyle drones and a bunch of analog drones. As much as i got the video quality to pretty damn perfect especially when flying around in an medium area with a small vtx that i had to also upgrade that also lol. One thing i noticed when trying out different combos to try and get a better and better picture.. I had a bunch of good name brand antenna's to try from, they were mostly all both TX/RX antenna's. For some reason some antennas just work better as a drone antenna or vice versa, and some just didnt work well at all, but have worked fine before on other builds. So i feel like because the analog video going thru the FC, is so sensitive to RF interference, that some antennas will just work well than others with certain setups.. However, like you said there's kind of nothing like digital, it just gives you that much confidence in flying and knowing that the video isnt going to breakup for no reason here and there even with great reception, only analog seems to do that. I just feel more connected and i think it makes it feel like its more controllable bc you can just see so much more. Im currently using O3 air unit and DJI V2's and the quality of the video and the video signal strength on stock antennas, both sides, is really amazing. I have a gps on my drone and I cant wait to be able to fly it more and more in Acro mode. I also have an Avata im going to change the controller to M mode i think and practice alittle on that just, its light, plastic, pretty durable, has the o3 style video link and isnt as crazy powerful as my 5" drone even on 4s lol.. I love HDZero and i will probably get a set in the future i think. Ill have to see how it works out..

Analog has its place for sure. Just found Angry Don FPV, great Caesar's Ghost he's got some super lightweight builds. Ain't getting that with any digital system. Love my DJI system, my old eyeballs appreciate being able to see. I fly HDZero in a 2 inch micro and a racer. Very happy with it. When HDZero come out with a smaller freestyle vtx, that will be awesome for that system. 🤓

Losing a beautiful Explorer like that really sucks! Maybe Flywoo can sent you another one. It looks like a receiver problem to me (ELRS on board?). ELRS receiver are great, but I wouldn't use them on my favourite & LR quads (anymore).

I’ve always flown analogue I like the feel of it being on the edge. HDZ is winning my points at the moment for the next system Im gonna move to. An updated HDZ test video on your experience using it for so long now would interesting to many. Might even spur me to making the switch Good work and entertaining as ever 👊

That analog breakup when signal is weak is horrible on HDZero goggles specifically :) HOpefully Carl can fix it one day. Violent black diagonal lines are not happening on normal analog-specific goggles, it just slowly shades to snow instead. I wanted to use HDzero goggles for analog, but back to Orqa cuz of that reason. One day ill switch to HDzero completely, but poor analog-hdzero performance making it more difficult to gradually transfer.

I did some crazy repeating fpv signal shit few months back and used Clearview 2.0 on a plane receiving 5.8 from a long range 7" and transmitting it down to a clearview 3.0 on the ground. It was good. But other than that specific usecase I wouldn't use it :D

I have started flying few months ago obviously as complete newbie to the hobby I highly underestimated how expensive this hobby is... For me to even understand if I want to fly it was way more convenient to get Analog whoop for ~100$ with cheap ~100$ box goggles. I have found Analog to be way better than most people show it on RU-vid especially if we consider that digital whoops are like x2 in price... Price is the biggest enemy of digital systems... As fresh pilot I have crushed sh*t out of my whoops and that could be way more expensive for me with Digital considering that stack itself is way bigger and I bet way easier to break (correct me If I am wrong) I have DJI on my 3" and 5" quads and I still think for indoor newbie pilot flying and practicing Analog is still a very good option especially if we take in consideration the cost of repair and frustration related to overall expense of being in this hobby...

I have two 03 quads and multiple vistas, but probably 50% + of my flying is analog using tiny whoops and a couple of inexpensive racers, since I am attempting to learn racing. I love the view from digital, but I really don't think about it too much once I take off. I still geet immersed in the flying.

Im very poor and there is just not enough options for digital just yet, once more companies start making more digital equipment the price will drop because of compitition, soo gonna wait a lil while before i switch.

A nice walk in the park of FPVtech! Analog quads are much lighter, tougher and cheaper to build or repair. I fly HDZero and Analog on whoops, DJI and Analog on bigger stuff. I really enjoy the visual quality of the digital stuff but analog tinywhoops got quite a lot more range and penetration than the HDZero ones. it is not even funny. I like DJI range and visual .. but I hate the captive ecosystem that comes with it. A robust HDzero AIOboard with decent range would make me happy. HDZero googles are HEAVY too!

with your HDzero goggles with the touted DE interlacer real time you should be getting the best analog has to offer. With lesser goggles your results may vary.

Hey @BOTGRINDER , tbh to make this “is analog good in 2023” . Is only use the latest analog vtx and cameras and the better stuff . Because HdZero has specific camera’s that will work with their video feed but are higher end then any analog , but analog is more open to other people . Like an open source . So yeah there is crappy vtx and crappy cameras and antennas. But if using the best of the best for analog and comparing that to other companies like hd zero which is using the best of the best for their product. Is the only way to give them a fair comparison. Yeah shitty analog is garbage . But usually only cost about 100 bucks to have a flying machine . So it’s hard IMO

Go on a Rescue mission with another drone, just attach a magnet on a string and hopefully Davey Jones doesn't pull that drone into his depths as well and you can save your now water logged drone. Or build on your Grinderino, whatever, do you hommie. Thanks for the vid!

I fly hdzero, walksnail, and analog. Of all the systems i prefer hdzero for the locked latency and image is better than analog. Walksnail is on my long range quads for the pretty view. I still fly analog on my sub 2" quads purely for penatration, 200mw on hdzero just isn't enough for me.

Never flew digital, so I see it as not spoiling myself and if I can fly good on analog, digital should be a piece of cake.

Between price and warning of static to let you know you getting to far or around to much i'm not leaving analog any time soon id rather save for a go pro before ever switching
