Many people I work with repeatedly think about past mistakes or replay their prior social experiences. Like everyone else, I’ve embarrassed myself MANY times, and could tell you some pretty embarrassing stories. But it can be important to understand why this “rumination” happens, whether it’s helpful, and what we can do about it. Because the process tends to make us pretty unhappy.

is writing about these past mistakes on paper beneficial or actually unhelpful? I really fight these thoughts of cringe experiences a lot and they just don't stop but I find myself thinking about them less when I write the experience in detail on paper. its like flushing the thoughts out of my mind.
