The largest memory I have is seeing this in the movie theater and my dad getting mad at me cause he had to take me to the bathroom near the end of the movie and he didn't wanna miss it.
i remember i liked Epic. a couple other movies i watched as a kid, that i think could make for an interesting little dive is "Help! I´m a Fish" and especially "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" :)
I remember watching this movie, Granted I didn't watch it until years after it came out on DVD, cuz I'd never heard of it before, but when I did see it, I loved it, and still do whenever I rewatch it on occasion
We watched this movie as a family, and I can remember that all of us were pretty pleasantly surprised that it was better than we'd anticipated. There's some real character depth in it that elevates the pretty predictable (but still solid) storyline from "eh, it was fine" to "wow, this was actually quite good".
oh this was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid! it wasn't very popular so I think you just had to be the right age when it came out to remember it
The story is more about Marie-katlyn| MK than the guy. She is discovering their world and trying to stop the villain. There's some focus on his attitude but the adventure is mostly about her 🙂
the weirdest thing I remember about epic was the fact that the mcdonald's happy meals to promote it in my country gave you a "grow your own cress" kit inside and a mini greenhouse. the cress didnt really last that long for me lmao
At first I didn’t Remeber this. And then I did. And for some reason at some point I think my brain just convinced me this was a weird mid tinker bell movie. It was the slug and snail that made me remember.
I loved this movie as a child. watched it many times. I do understand the flaws... But the 8 year old me was like: Tiny humanoid beings running in the jungle with magical powers? Sign me up!
So I remember seeing the trailers for it and I remembered they really highlighted that Beyoncé was gonna be in it, but it wasn’t something I was interested in, flash forward to a few years ago and my daughter found it randomly on Freevee and she’s been obsessed with it ever since 😂
I remember this being over advertised on Nickelodeon during my senior year of high school (major SpongeBob fan) and I always thought it looked stupid. 10 years later, it still looks like something I would never watch.
I had literally no recollection of ever watching this movie before this video, thanks for reminding me about this 😭 PS: I most definitely had a crush on the queen lady
Ferngully already did this & did it better. Batty is still funny to me. I saw it at summer camp by accident but it’s still one of my favorite unheard of movies. Also bartok the magnificent & Oliver & company are two more of my favorite underrated movies. Just throwing it out there in hopes that pig can show them some love too
I remember Epic. I begged my parents to take me to see it in the theater when I was 14, acted like it was one of the best movies ever, and then never watched it again.
that happed with me but with harry potter 1 and was bored outta my mind and my parents looked like they were going thru hell like when is this movie over lol
Same here. I watched in in theatres too when I was a preteen and remember liking it, now I completely forgot about it until like last month when I randomly came across a video talking about it
The one thing I remember about this movie is that William Joyce (the guy who wrote the picture book this movie was based on as well as Meet The Robinsons, Rise Of The Guardians, and literally most of gen z’s childhood, look it up) named the main character after his daughter who’d died of a brain tumor some years previous. No matter your opinion of the movie itself, that’s really fucking sweet and you can tell all the projects he’s involved with mean a lot to him.
Only thing I remember about Epic is that BEYONCE herself was in this movie as the queen. Who literally dies 10 minutes into the movie and her character is never seen or mentioned again! One of the most pointless celebrity cameos EVER!!
well, they probably couldn't pay her more than 10 min. But the queen is remebered. I have a meme saved in pinterest about how she has such a beayfull character design and only apears for the first 10 min of the movie
I'm annoyed that she died by falling. Like, uh hi, she has powers, why didn't she just make a big patch of grass grow to land on, or a giant flower, or a toadstool to use like a cushion, etc? She's this total badaas, but now because of plot contrivance she just forgets she can do that?
@@WobblesandBean she got hit by one of those bogan's arrows, that's why when her body disappeared the patch of grass she fell on died and an arrow can be seen in the middle
I remember watching this movie with my friend. One of the jokes I loved so much was: "Ugly said what?" then the bad guy looks over and says "what" and the slugs are like "nothingggg." while laughing. I said it to my dad like the following day and it did not end well for me 😭💀
I always thought the time dilation was the most interesting idea in this movie; that your size impacts the way you perceive time. And it's not explored enough in the movie sadly.
I think it was utelised well. You constantly see how the leafmen as SUPER fast and agile, and MK gets those abilities too. It's technically constant cause it affects every action scene. Even non action scenes like when Nod showed MK the deer. But the main characters were all small except the dad, the only time the *contrast* would be relevant, would be when he is in the presence of small people. The only way to bring that in more would be to shoe-horn in the dad more and I think he was shown enough without overstaying his welcome.
I remember I saw this movie while on a plane to Hawaii. It wasn’t an amazing movie but it wasn’t terrible either. But it definitely didn’t deserve to be forgotten.
Before she gets big again she gets to kiss the guy which simultaneously made me happy and sad because as a kid I lowkey wanted her to stay small so they could be together 😅
9:55 small correction, Ronin knew she was a "stomper" he just didn't know that was her dad. Also, Nod didn't know, but Nod's shirt also looks like a pretty normal shirt so it's reasonable that her clothes didn't give anything away. The more fancy clothing clearly is just uniform and armour type things, but their casual clothes don't look that different from "stomper" clothes. We saw a toad (voiced by Pitbull) wearing a semi-casual suit and button up at the bird races as well.
I remember Epic. I can’t NOT remember Epic. I watch it all the time. I know it’s forgettable, but it’s still my favorite childhood movie. It inspired my vision for photography as well. There was one night that I watched it three times in a row. I really don’t know why
I’m still waiting for the FNAF movie fans to discover this movie. Also it took me a decade to realize who the protagonist was supposed to be based on and I wish she survived her battle with cancer and saw how much her father’s work means to so many people.
The three things I remember about this movie: 1. Little Plant People 2. BEYONCE is in the movie for 5 minutes as the Queen 3. That joke about a fly's lifespan
Funny story, When this came out on dvd, my parents and I went to my old elementary school for my sister’s dance recital, there were flyers on the door saying “Come see the newest Disney movie, Epic, for school movie night on friday” Middleschool me cringed so hard that they called a bluesky film a “disney movie” Fastforward to the day Disney officially bought Fox, I laughed so hard at the realization that Epic was now technically a disney movie and joke that the old staff elementary school predicted Disney buying Fox
I remember loving this movie and strange magic so much because of the fairies/tiny people/hidden world thing, but i honestly hadn’t thought of them that much until your movies. It’s actually amazing how much those movies affected certain parts of my taste
I remember going to see it in the theaters with my dad. The entire theater was empty except for us, so we could be as loud as we wanted. It was awesome.
There was an Epic tie-in with Long John Silver's. At my local location, the signage stayed on the cashier counter for, like, 7 years. It was impressive.
It was a day like any other. I was playing Bin Weevils like all kids my age did. There was a Croods event going on. My mother came to me and said we were going to watch something in the cinema. I was excited to see Croods because my favourite game of all time collabed with a movie, and then we saw this. I've never felt more disappointed in my life, and I think back on that moment. I was never the same after epic. I was never the same.
It's so interesting how a movie with a very well-known cast-Beyoncé is the Queen, FFS-can fall into the pop culture memory hole like this. I don't remember Epic at all. It seems like the folks who do remember it have fond memories, so that's nice.
Now I really want him to cover Arthur and the Minimoys Trilogy! Those were such banger movies to me as a kid, I loved them so much! (especially the first one, at least, it was so fun and full of wonder)
I remember I had a thoery when I was little that the evil guy who shot the generals love interest aka the queen wanted her gone because he likes the general. That was my theory when I was a small child
I remember this movie because of the promotion was using the song "I love it" by Icona Pop and replaced the lyrics "I don't care, I love it" to "This is Epic, I love it" it was annoying but also kinda smart
I saw Epic ages ago when I was sick and I thought it was a dream. I couldn't remember the title of it and every time I described what I could remember, people thought I was talking about a different movie.
Can you review “Strange Magic”? I remember when the movie first came out. It feels like a fever dream… My sister and I went, seeing as it was, like, the only interesting thing at the cinema that week. So, we went, and we both came out *horrified.* As young teens, it was weird. I don’t even know how to describe it. I just know that we both came out of that cinema, and are still, to this day, traumatized. 😂
Excuse me Strange Magic was so good!!!! I didn’t know about it until my dad forced me to watch it with him one day on dvd. I agree that at first it was really jarring and seemed like a stereotypical fairy princess movie but it quickly flips the script. The cover songs blow it out the park, I was obsessed whenI was like 15 and totally still am. I really suggest going back and watching it!
I watched epic of my own volition in like... 2016 or 17 ish when i had netflix........ I remember watching it... and that the dad is a nutjob, who isn't actually a nutjob... with a daughter that thinks he's weird... and there's like a seed or some shit that dictates royalty or some shit... but that's about it. I just remember it existing. Which means it was probably just an "ok" movie to me.
I enjoyed this movie a lot! But something I’ve never heard anyone say before is, it’s a pretty blatant ripoff of the Spiderwick Chronicles. Young person moves into rickety gothic mansion in the forest, belonging to a middle-aged eccentric with a funny metal eyepiece that allows him to see faeries. The folkloric creature designs are also heavily inspired by the Spiderwick Chronicles, with magical creatures hidden in plain sight, disguised as flowers etc., and in both stories there’s a “scientific” aspect to the creature lore, with the eccentric scientist documenting his findings on faeries. And in both stories the antagonist (Mandrake in Epic, Mulgarath in Spiderwick) comes from the faerie world. I’m not condemning the movie for doing this, as I said I really enjoyed it. The parallels may even be coincidental, but it would be a pretty amazing coincidence.
I saw Epic in theaters, and I REALLY wanted to like it, but there was something about it that was just...underwhelming :/ Like it was missing something
I LOVED THIS MOVIE SOOOO MUCH my family hated it tho so I only got to watch it at my aunts house or when they weren’t home but seriously was obsessed 🤩
I begged my grandma for this movie when it came out cause i kept seeing commercials for it. I watched it like twice, it was... A movie. I remember liking it vaguely lmfao.
I do I do because there's a supermarket near my house that attempted to sell a bunch of shampoo bottles with Epic branding I think they are still there I recently rewatched the movie and man it was even more boring that I remember pretty much nothing about it works, the MC's personal life is a mess, the love interest is super bland just as their love story and the most interesting character ends up being the dad in a sad drama way which is not what I expect from a movie called Epic
