Two extra great things! 1) Inspire Courage also gives a +1 bonus to will saves against Fear effects, Fear being just a terrible terrible thing for a PC to have. 2) Lingering Composition specifically also doesn't cost you your Focus Point you use to cast it if it fails on top of being a free action. BARD SO GOOD
I really enjoyed my brief time as a bard. I acted as the face of the party while also having to remind people that they had a bonus to hit and damage due to Inspire Courage. Plus, I had some sweet spells from the Occult spell list.
@@RebelThenKing I started playing D&D 3.5 then moved to 5th Ed and, more recently, Starfinder. Love the return to a bit of crunchiness. Is Pathfinder similar in that way?
People sleep on Hymn of Healing. It's one of the best non-combat healing spells in the game, and would be used more often in combat if it didn't directly compete with inspire courage and lingering spell. I almost always play humans when I play bards just so I can pick it up at first level.
Also, in our game, the Bard and Swashbuckler tank combo has worked out surprisingly well as we do not have a traditional tank (fighter, champion, ect.)
High charisma, lots of social skills…. Up the IQ and you have the party leader. Bard isn’t a support mage, cleric, fighter or thief, they are support staff for the Bard when the Bard needs a boost in those areas.
I honestly was taken back by your intro. Do people really believe the bard is a bad class? I've always loved the bard (so I am admittedly very biased), and I feel like in 5e and PF2 they are AMAZING to the point where you almost have to deliberately avoid stealing the spotlight. Buffs that affect everyone in stackable ways can tip combat balance, if you build for it you can fill in skills gaps in the party, and there are very few situations either socially or in combat where you'll feel redundant.
I feel like I've seen so many "horny bard" memes I wondered if anybody took them seriously, to the point where people would roll their eyes whenever someone mentioned a bard. Clearly I'm in agreement with you and think they're amazing!
@@RebelThenKing Ah yes, the bard who seduces the dragon instead of killing it. I shudder to think of the logistics. I agree with your analysis, and I have been enjoying your class videos :) Keep up the good work!
I recently learned that bards have a focus spell feat they can take at level 8 called inspire heroics which is a free action combines with inspire courage ( or inspire defense) to boost the die modifier to +2 or +3 depending on the result of a performance check. Absolutely amazing imo.
Bard is a fairly good class in my opinion. Though that inspire courage falls off at lv13 because you get access to 7th level Girzanje's March and then again at 19th when you get 10th level Girzanje's March. And warrior muse feels a bit weak, however you can decide to pick armor proficiency for medium armor and then sentinel dedication for heavy armor that stacks with your light armor proficiency.
Hey, I realize this is an older video but I just wanted to make a small correction. The bard is not the only class with the ability to pick up the abilities of every other subclass. The 🎉druid🎉 can also do this.
As someone who has been playing a Bard in Pathfinder 2e, I agree that the class is great. It is the best buffing class in the game. However, as someone who has been playing rpg's since the days of dnd 2e, I can say that it doesn't feel like a Bard. They wanted a full caster for Occult, and shoehorned the Bard into it. And that got worse with the release of the Thaumaturge. You can make a character that feels more like the classic Bard with that class (especially if using the free Archtype rule) than you can with the Bard. I hope that with the Remix they can at least make it so that Bardic Lore isn't useless compared to Esoteric Lore.
Yes it would! Each missile from magic missile does d4+1, so you need to roll 3 d4s, which is technically making 3 damage rolls. Inspire Courage would apply to each of those rolls, so you are absolutely right, a 3-action magic missile would add 3 damage from Inspire Courage.
