It's impossible not to find the sight and sound of a Spitfire stirring. At Goodwood we're very lucky to have Boultbee as our neighbours, the only place in the world where you can train to be an accredited Spitfire pilot. Today, on the 75th anniversary of VE Day and the end of World War Two this special aircraft will take to the skies as part of a very special VE Day 75th anniversary flypast. I had a flying lesson at Goodwood and we had to wait to take off...when asked why the answer was to let the Spitfires take off! Was a treat to be in the sky with them flying around.

The Mustang had the same engine, so it can't SOUND better. It also has a big bulbous bit below the fuselage behind the wings and has "plain" wings, so looks worse.

YES! The P51d Mustang. Superior design, looks and sound. No surprise as it was conceived 10 years after the Spitfire. Kinda like a Spitfire on steroids. Ironically, the Spitfire sounds like a Harley, and the Mustang sounds like a Jaguar. Two of the greatest aircraft of all time - both in design and historical significance. Thanks to all for keeping these flying museums alive and well!
