If there wasn’t a black man as a lead then people would be beyond excited. As a black gamer I honestly find it sad the level of ignorance and hatred gamers can display. It’ll never drive be from my passion for Video games tho, that’s the beauty of gaming itself, the diverse communities of people it touches.
Your level of ignorance is on display as well if not worse, nobody cares that the man is black, people are annoyed they shuffled through thousands of years of Japanese history and they picked the one piece of it that had a black man and than lied and exaggerated about what he actually was, they picked yasuke because it was going to cause controversy not because he is an interesting character and that’s why the majority are pissed off, were people mad when adawale was around killing white people and saving slaves? No because we loved it
At this point Ubisoft's reputation is so horrendous, so toxic, so unforgivingly bad, the quality of the game is completely irrelevant. Even if it is the best AC ever made, they don't deserve an ounce of trust. Even if it releases with zero bugs, and no microtransactions, everyone expects it to be over monetized to hell eventually. Ubisoft WILL RUIN IT SOMEHOW If they can pump out 2-3 solid games inna row without breaking that trust again, MAYBE I'll be interested in their IPs again.
Main reason why people (myself included) hated a certain skin color samurai is because there’s 700 years of samurai history and ubisoft chose this guy and the shinobi gal just for “more diversity” pushing forward this political agenda bs that i personally am so fed up at this point. And to add more displeasure, again we have to choose another character we play as, can they just make one character and not this male female choice bs we’re getting since odyssey? I don’t mind if the main character is a woman, fully completed ac liberation, played the full story of horizon zero dawn, and now I’m starting my first ng+ of stellar blade, so… no problem with women as the playable character in games Dude’s take on odyssey is accurate, terrible rpg game and not even an ac game at all, and that’s what og fans get for ubisoft trying to please a broader audience, when the game’s formula isn’t for everyone Btw ac origins reveal did right, they showcased a gameplay footage back in e3 2017 and then later close to release date they launched their cgi trailer
I hate splitting up a disc and serving us half a game so we pay more! VIDEOGAME BORGS (BOARDS) DESTROY ART! ALL BORGS WHO PUT MONEY BEFORE ART AND STORY LOSE IN THE LONG RUN!
Does it matter? Game hasn't even released yet but we all suspect the same trash as always simply because it's Ubisoft. Think of it as a pre-emptive disapproval lol. Might even encourage Ubisoft to do better than tack on yet another revenge story to a same old same old product.
I think the Yasuke stuff is more alienated right wing goober-dom. The games have always been both mythic and historically batshit. But Ubisoft has released a grind (Odyssey), another grind (Valhallah), and a buggy fart (the other one), never mind many other soulless cash grabs outside of the series. I enjoyed Origins, so I am unsurprised they are throwing the name around. There isn't any reason to trust any of these big time American publishers. The best games are coming from elsewhere and they are more interested in new financial models than actually selling a good game.
These games are asking for a premium price to gain entry, in Shadows case £70 - $300. When that level of investment is being asked of the players, judgement has to be made prior to purchase to ensure the best use of the players finances. In a series like Assassin's Creed, and with a publisher like Ubisoft, you have a wealth of evidence from their recent releases and trends to get a fairly accurate idea of what that value would be from any new title in the series. For me that looks like this will be a similar catastrophe to Valhalla and Odyssey, to Rudiggz it looks great. This is unfortunately the way the industry is right now. With such high price tags on everything, we have to judge it on marketing before release to protect ourselves, from essentially scans.
As a Brit, if AC come to medieval England to explore the nobility and knighthood and the main character was a Filipino knight I wouldn't even consider buying it
I play an AC game to feel like I've actually visited ancient Greece or Acre or Egypt or Victorian London or whatever. I put up with the Abstergo stuff because they make me. If they take me to feudal Japan - yes, please, that sounds awesome - I want to experience it as a feudal Japanese character. Not that one black guy who lived there for a year once.
Doragon needs to make points without referencing “old school AC fans or gamers”. I’m one of those that has played every major entry and has enjoyed most of them regardless if it was on the vein of the action adventure genre or the RPG style. Apparently most aren’t that rigid about what we want in an Assassin’s Creed Game, because it has sold really well. I can’t wait to see Japan through the lenses of Ubisoft. I also want to play Star Wars Outlaws. I don’t care for the hate Ubisoft gets online. My only point is that “most gamers” don’t really make that much fuss on the internet about whatever the internet geeks fuss.
I do not NEED to change the way that I approach an opinion piece, as it is just that, an opinion. Your comment is the same as mine in the video in that they are both our personal opinions stated with conviction. If we don't agree that's fine, but I shouldn't change my thoughts or lexicon to suit your opinions, nor should you change yours to fit mine, both are perfectly valid as they are how we really feel. In the factual segments I will take opinion out of it, but in a segment asking for "My Thoughts" on a matter, you're going to get my thoughts, feelings and opinions. Well yes, but actually no. AC Shadows on its own, is a fair decision. Who wouldn't want to play as Afro Samurai? Buuuut i think it's just the culmination of bullshit. Why does every game have to push liberal ideology at us? Why's there always gotta be some ugly character or gay/trans representation in every game that comes out? Why is it in every TV show n movie? Why is it that whenever it's referenced, they make it out like the character's a saint just for being ___, and anyone who opposes them is called out as "insert bad name here"?
This has been one of the best breakdowns I've seen of the game. So much of the dialog surrounding this game has been based on the main character being black that no one has even pointed out the actual problems from Ubisoft. This video made me subscribe.
