Also, I've noticed the older siblings get away with doing things more than the younger siblings do. Like for example, I go through my little sisters makeup. She gets pissed and goes and tells our mom. Our mom would say "it's not a big deal just tell her to leave". If the younger sibling is going through the older siblings makeup the mother would say "(insert name here) needs her privacy so you shouldn't be going through her stuff."

I'm in a similar situation. Except my sister is a year younger than me, and she isn't sad, she's very, very angry. At me. She has been. For like, my entire life.

I was the little sister in that sort of situation. I used to be a bit jealous of my big brother. But today I know we've both got our strengths and weaknesses, just in different areas. He has his strengths, let him know that. Heck, more than likely he's even better than you at more than a few things. Let him help you in that case. And he's gotta get in the good habit of trying all the new things that interest him, stuff you haven't even thought of doing maybe, and make his own identity. I was tired of people knowing me as "his sister" and always comparing me to my brother so trying out different classes and clubs, making myself more different from him helped (and was a ton of fun as I found new hobbies and such that stuck). As I got to know myself and built myself I began to really like who I really was inside and was growing into. I accepted my shortcomings but also still wanted to improve myself, but for myself this time, not to be better than someone else. It's not about living up to someone, but about living up to yourself. But it takes time to realize these things. I believe you can help him help himself. This is by my experience though, so take it as you may… To you and your families, the best of luck. :>

Also the emotional connection is so strong as it is their first child (although this really diminishes over the years).

I used to be a youngest kid before my little sister came to life. I hate being compared to other people even if they were my siblings. But if I wanna learn something from them, I try my best to obtain their traits to reach a great balance between their personalities... but it takes a lot of time to do so. Not all siblings are accurately the same most science theories explain, but it did give us a lot of benefit in learning about ourselves.

I'm the middle child and my to other siblings are social butterflies I I just kinda ignore others.

One time my mom brought us to an icecream shop. I was paying for my icecream when she left me. It sucked just standing there. I guess about 2-3 hrs later I got picked up. Always forgotten.
