I have a pretty severe dairy intolerance now but when I kept on damaging my insides for the taste of dairy, I had the worst acne of my life. Now that I'm dairy-free my acne is much more in control and honestly I don't miss dairy that much because I feel so much better about myself now and dairy alternatives are getting SO good!

Dairy ruined my skin, gave me horrible cystic acne and I thought it was all due to my hormones going crazy and due to my skin being oily, but once I read an article about it and I decided to cut it off to see if anything would change, and my skin started to clear up in a week.

I can't afford the time to see a derm for basic skincare advice. I've been following your advice for about a year now. I've seen so much improvement. Others call me crazy for putting on sunscreen everyday or think I have too much or too little products in my routine. I think this just goes to show how misinformed people are on taking care of their skin. We really need to stop taking skincare advice from gurus, mommy blogs, celebrities, etc.
@bri_33
@bri_33 2 года назад
Yup! Plus, people have to realize that there's no one-size-fits-all answer to things like skin care and hair care, so what works for them may not work for you. I feel you on the sunscreen tip. I've been incorporating it into my skincare routine for a couple of years now and my friends always make fun of me for it and tell me that I don't need it because I'm black, but I know that that isn't necessarily true.

I suggest looking at Dr Dray's videos on Azelaic Acid. It is not a spot treatment, but acts as a preventive if used every day, all over your face (not eyes, lips or ears). On your neck of you get pimples there too. It keeps pores unblocked (better than masks or suction machines) and reduces redness. I use 20% (over the counter in pharmacies in Australia), by prescription in USA. I would love to hear your opinion on pro metabolic nutrition with regards to skin. Rather than focusing on and trying to treat “symptoms” like acne, IBS, lack of sleep etc this approach focuses on restoring metabolism and therefore restoring basic cellular function, leading to an overall improvement in health and reduction in lots of endocrine related symptoms. The nutrition that’s recommended is heavy on promoting dairy! That’s why it would be very interesting to hear your view. It’s very new to me, and I’m educating myself fully on the subject but the science makes a lot of sense. There’s quite a few influencers active on the pro metabolic lifestyle now too!

I have been watching your channel for YEARS! I have struggled with hormonal acne for a long time. Over a decade. I have done just about any topical treatment, skin care lines, etc… you can think of, as well as oral medicines, birth controls, accutane, spironolactone, etc… I recently started exploring this milk thing and I LOVE milk but I haven’t been drinking it and have been using oat milk in my coffee instead of creamer for the last maybe 2 or 3 months consistently. I DO still have some pre menstrual cycle breakouts but they seem to clear up faster, not be as intense and I don’t seem to really have acne much anymore after my period. I think this is all 100% accurate!

I don't even need to read the research. Yes! Absolutely cutting out dairy made a huge impact on improving my own acne.

For everyone who's saying that dairy gives them acne. Have you tried consuming milk/cheese from pasture raised cows? This made a big difference in my skin.

The only diary product I can tolerate well is aged hard cheese. I eat a lot of it, like 3-4 ounces everyday. It doesn’t seem to affect my skin but the rest of my diet is very anti-inflammatory and full of healthy fats, leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables.

For me, limiting dairy consumption didn't make much difference in my acne (I haven't tried cutting it out completely though), however, whey protein did wreak havoc on my face and stopping it worked immediately. It's the only thing I know with certainty than worsened my skin. Even cutting sugar and junk food doesn't do much for my skin.
@spacedoutET

Everything you said was 100% true. I see videos saying eat this or do that as it will help you. Everyone's different and what works for one, may not work for another. I decided to write a food diary and monitor what foods help or not. I used to eat cheese all the time coz I loved it. Lol. I always had odd spots come up now and then over face and back mainly. I cut sugar out which can help but always still suffered. I cut cheese and sugar together as a test and my skin has never been so clear. I was really happy. Then last night I had a cheese lasagne and overnight I had my 1st big spot show up by my lip. Can't be a coincidence. 😶

Stress and too much added sugar causes me to break out. Also, If I consume too much dairy I will get one or a couple of new pimples. I take milk or creamer in my coffee with sugar daily and it doesn’t bother my skin. I tried Almond milk creamer which is ok, but I had to use a lot more than regular creamer to get the coffee lighter. So as long as I do not consume too much dairy or sugar it doesn’t cause me any skin problems.

My doctor has made it specifically clear to me that before taking multi vitamins, one needs to have a blood test to find any deficiencies. I was iron and vitamin D deficient and have been taking supplements for these. If one doesn't have a deficiency, taking supplements can cause other problems in the body. Furthermore, that the body will simply eliminate unwanted vitamins. There's no point in wasting money on supplements that body doesn't need.
