physcial protection from the Sun is better than sunscreen, if you could do both thats great. A lot of people laugh at Asian holding umbrella under the sun but it really works great, here in Singapore, China Japan and Korea people use umbrella to block sun and prevent premature aging.

A few wks ago I ate something very sweet & 2 days later I had pimples all over my face for the first time in years. Consuming omega 3’s, probiotics also keep my skin from freaking out. But I tried for years & years to fix the problem topically. I have about the same skincare routine now. Only diet changed.

I tell my patients the reason to take a high quality collagen supplement is not because it can be assimilated into the tissues but for its gut healing properties which in turn improves macro and micro nutrient absorption and decreases GI and systemic inflammation. In my late 70s, this past month I’ve used collagen powder product as an experiment. For few years I’ve gotten subcutaneous bleeds whenever I scratched my forearms, like for insect bite. I have diabetes, never smoked (yuk), drank very little alcohol or even caffeine. Have intentionally scratched my forearm several times in the last few days and NO subcutaneous bleeds!😊🎉 So am now searching for foods to focus on instead of buying powder. I share this in hopes it might be of benefit to others. After listening more, I realize another factor is I’ve been eating a mandarin orange almost every day to help absorb iron-became anemic due to a bleed,so this is probably part of the equation.

Taking any supplement is your choice, I'm not telling anyone to take anything. Biotin or any other thing I've ingested didn't ever cause breakouts. My body doesn't work like that. I am a raw vegan and that has done the best for my skin. Drinking fresh coconut water daily and eating lots of raw sprouted nuts. Eating plenty of sprouted greens and even adding sun fortified mushrooms, to add plenty of vitamin d2. Drinking plenty of fluids. Eating two avocados a day. Cold juicing beets a couple times a week. Cucumber juice, for digestion. Ginger juice, with orange to keep my mouth from the continuing burn of ginger juice, I eat a piece of orange right after. It’s a commitment, but worth it. I stopped eating refined sugars and lost 50 lbs in 4 months. I didn’t diet by any means, I just made some adjustments. Making sure I don’t go hungry. Feeding your body with the best foods you can. I don’t spend hundreds of dollars on skin care products. I eat well and exercise and my skin follows. Wearing SPF or protective clothing. My dad died of skin cancer so yes, I stay out of the sun as much as I can. I don’t think the sun was the only contributing factor to my fathers cancer. I think food was and stress. Sugar is so toxic. It’s in everything!!! I hope my comment helps anyone who is trying to improve their lifestyle. Stay away from restaurants, prepare your foods at home. Raw vegan, well rounded nutrition is a game changer!!!

Dear Dr. Dray and followers. As a young mother (years and years ago-- in my young and stupid days-- who still suffered with acne, I was taking vitamin A supplements, hoping for some improvement. After not getting any results, I thought maybe increasing the vitamin A would certainly help. So I tripled the dose. Before long I noticed my skin looked gold-ish and I felt as if I had a bad case of the flu--but it didn't go away. I felt so sick that I finally went to the doctor. As it turned out I gave myself hepatitis from all that vitamin A, and which of course was making my liver very unhappy. I was sick and weak, and could hardly walk to the kitchen. I was sick for 5 months! I had no knowledge about stored vitamins, and what the result could be. I didn't learn that until years later. Since I had a young baby and a toddler, it was a particularly hard time. And I was also contagious, so no family or f.riends could come to help. Or even visit! Best of luck to followers of Dr. Dray. When she warns not to take a large amount of something, you must listen. A hard lesson learned, and I hope to save someone else such a result. NO fat soluable vitamin overdoses, please. (ADEK) The liver can only handle sooo much.

This was so informative, clear, concise and digestible. I was able to pause and make a list of each bullet point and could clearly understand what i was supposed to look for or avoid and WHY. Your level of in-depth explanation as to how these components work together is what makes me understand food/skin/anything in a new way and that is the type of learning that keeps me coming back!

@Daria Why it didn't work for you? Just curious. Was it because of your health? I recently became almost vegan because of my very high cholesterol. I wasn't eating that much meat or dairy before so it really sucks when your cholesterol is soo high despite of that.

I was advised by Dr. Ray Strand approximately 20 years ago to add 300mg of Grapeseed Extract to my daily treatment. I have SLE, Sjogrens and Hoshimotos for over 50 years. I was also advised to eat in the manner you've encouraged. I'm lucky my mom is French and this is typical (or it used to be) the way the French eat so I've eaten very well my whole life. I quit using the grapeseed to save money and there was a significant difference. I resumed the grapeseed after 5 years and if nothing else, my joints have a slight, noticeable improvement. My physician believes I "do better than most" in managing my illness due primarily to my healthy diet. This doesn't mean I haven't experienced life-threatening episodes, but I heal and tolerate these episodes "better than most". Thanks for this video.
