They’re covering each other and different cover for different stages of the game and different opponents, plus when we actually get a half decent right winger to finally put Almiron in the bin, we won’t have to be switching Gordon over there to do a shift.
I reckon the plan was always to have them to share the left. That way they can give it their all in an unrelenting attack but one person per half to also save legs. It's why we need Sesko to do the same with Isak and why we need two class wingers for the right
Newcastle fans aren’t getting their head around the fact that we have to start using squad rotation if we want to challenge at the top of the league and progress in Europe. As a fan base we seem to want a best 11 that plays every game (I have this mindset too so I’m not criticising). The big teams share the workload through the season across a couple of players depending on the opponents and the players fitness. Man City rotate all season and that’s why they finish the season so strongly because they avoid over stretching their team and avoid fatigue. There’s nothing wrong with having 2 good players in the same position because we need to get to a point where we have 2 good players in every position, if we get there we’ll start to win things.
All good clubs should have two players fighting for the same position. Preferably though right now. I'd be playing both Gordon and Barnes at the same time, with Isak through the middle. Moving Gordon primarily to the right wing and having Barnes come in off the left. I don't think Barnes is a true winger, more of an inside forward, where Gordon is able to fill both roles playing as an inside forward from the left and a more traditional winger from the right.
Just looked up Barnes' goals & assists (7) per minutes played (670) that works out to 7.5 games played. So, roughly 1 goal contribution per game. Not bad for a stop starty season of freak injuries and bit part sub appearances. Fully expecting him to come on as strong as Gordon next season 🤞
I’m over the moon Harvey barns is fit again for this last push for European football but I prefer Gordon over on the left I’m sure Eddie will adapt them both to fit in somewhere that’s what Eddies good at .
The forwards are inter change able that's why they are dangerous, Eddie wants that and continously movements. Look how he expects that from Elliot Anderson. We need an upgrade for Miggy
@@johnwatson7120 Almiron is far superior to Anthony Gordon and Barnes. Gordon isn't a starter. He's not technically good enough. It's a no brainer to sack Eddie Howe and re-sign Allan Saint Maximin
