I understand the point, but immigration doesn't solve things on the long term. Those people are also entitled to pensions when they retire, just like your normal citizens... it's just pushing back the issue
It's pushing back the issue? Well where is the alternative and it isn't necessarily pushing back the issue. Yes those people will retire but they will also produce babies (probably at a higher rate then their native European counterparts) and as a result the average population will age slower so the effects of an evening population on the economy and services won't be felt as much.

We can look at numbers even now migrants and refugees from different countries tend to have typically higher birth rates even when they come into a more expensive country as even tho the cost of living is higher so is the pay. Refugees and migrants in European countries have even higher purchasing parity thanks to these policies and as a result there is no incentive for them to make less babies. The reason why birth rates drop isn't linked with expensive of living but rather the standard living conditions of a country and typically occurs over multiple generations. In either case it would still decrease the rate at which the population ages if not reverse it for some time at the very least.
@@zest7812 look, I work with some refugees from Afghanistan, 6 of them. Only one has a family here (Germany) and he brought them. I don't think he would ever consider making babies while he lives in Germany, because unlike you said, there is no boost in purchasing power for them. They say that in Afghanistan there are no taxes and all of them had good houses, now they earn bad salaries that allow them to be afloat.

I have just gone to the ONS (UK gov website) and refugees and immigrants especially from Asia and African regions on average tend to produce far more children per women then the average European. I can find you equally good anecdotal evidence that in the UK as a medical student I have talked to many patients of Somalian descent for example have more than 6 kids (most of which if not all are born here). I'm not doubting what you are saying is lying, I'm merely suggesting that it is anecdotal evidence and is not necessarily reflective of what is actually going on. Edit: I'm not saying the Asians and Africans will always produce more kids (from a logical perspective on population demographics work, within a few generations probably by 3rd gen immigrants these people rate of reproduction per women will be fairly similar to the native European problem and in that case the ageing population problem will arise once more).

I don't know where you guys live but there are lots of jobs available. Just need to leave the house and actually want to get a job! In my field (engineering) pretty much all companies are recruiting all the time. For people without a degree there are also lots of jobs available in construction and agriculture - and this is pretty much the situation everywhere in europe. The problem is that most people want cosy 8 hours per day / 5 days a week jobs where they can do whatever they want and get paid.

That was done in the 80's and 90's so most smart and bright people in 3rd world countries left to Europe and America back then The problem is since those people left there was nobody smart and educated enough to train and educate the next generation of kids in those countries thus decreasing the quality of educated population there Also why would their governments spend resources and time and effort to train and educate kids if they will just leave to Europe anyway (imagine being manager of amateur programmers and you spend years and money teaching them and training them to be professional and then once the training is over they leave you to work for another company do that for long and you won't bother training them at all and instead will spend your resources to hire professional ones from the beginning) so those countries start to spend less on education and instead hire European professionals for temporary but high paying jobs instead since it's more efficient for them
Encouraging the native population to have more children is an easy way of protecting local culture and increasing birth rates. In modern Europe local fertility rates by are dropping and the age that people have children is also increasing. this also has the effect that there children are not working and contributing to taxes for as long for benefits and pensions for the older generation compared to if the parents had children while they were still young. It's a myth. First of all automation is shit frankly . Second more automation doesn't kill jobs. It simply expands thr economy and creates other kind of jobs inevitably.
A decreasing population is a good thing! Less people flooding the labor market means individuals receive higher wages, leading to a stable middle class. Your average cooperation only supports mass immigration because it artificially keeps wages lower. Plus a huge loss in the number of jobs through automation and a huge decline in the number of people working them would fit together quite nicely!
But it also leads to an ageing population which results in high expenses on pensions. This is a large problem and the automation of jobs then needs to be encouraged and the lower skilled workers will then need to be retrained costing more money. If unaddressed these problems will result in an economic decline, social unrest, rampant inequality and mountains of debt.
Things should be balanced. Europe needs more migrants, but Europe also need to support young couples who are trying to start a family. I personally know plenty of young Europeans that are hesitant to start a family because they cannot afford it. There are many ways for a nation to sustain itself, immigration is only one component.

I say this because a substantial amount of immigrants are muslims, to the point where some estimates say that a tenth of france is muslim, as a person not living in the west, I worry about my own safety without the west, with these immigrants brings new values, lesser ones like female genital mutilation(about 50 percent of women in this country), and the lack of a focus on assimilation worries me, these people are the ones who protested Charlie Hebdo when all they did was criticise Islam, that is not Islamophobic, Christianity is allowed criticism yet not Islam, I even read an opinion piece on a news website from back then criticising Charlie Hebdo for "Islamophobia" and spreading "hate", the real issue here are the attacks on freedom of speech, where will the people to defend me be in the future, there need not be the conspiracy of eurabia to be real, for the my concerns about the lack enlightenment values to be reality, I again cite Charlie Hebdo as an example of my concerns. Let us then go towards the discrimination against the majority, in a democratic society, one must sacrifice the minority, a democracy is merely a form of majoritarianism. Your argument is that due to a falling population that the EU needs migration. To that, I say we both agree, however from what you are saying it seems like you want the EU to open its doors to everyone to negate this problem. This is where we would disagree, migration is essential so long as the people that migrate into the country respect and follow that country's values and laws. As can be seen by the increase in crime across the majority of the EU this form of migration is not conducive to the society and as such will cost it more money which just one of these being policing. to conclude If your argument is to allow everyone and anyone into the EU then there is no way that I will agree with you. However, if your argument is that controlled migration that ensures people assimilate appropriately into the host country's culture is needed then we agree wholeheartedly. I do understand what your saying in this video, but it doesn’t make total sense to me. For one we have so many unemployed here in the UK so surely if you trained many and got them into work. That’s more productive than bringing in new workers. Also the population rise in itself is a huge wicked issue! Should we be encouraging this massive rise in population to keep our economies strong. Or she we focus on what we have and make it work for the people already settles here. I dread to think what the UK will be like with a population of double what it is now say 120million. Tbh, i do agree about needing more skilled workers which you pointed out in social care, nursing and construction however, if the government and universities wasn’t so hell bend in everyone having top grades and making nursing into a “degree only profession” then We’d have a lot more nurses and social care staff. I got top grades for my health and social care course however, because i failed my maths and English GCSE by one mark due to the grade boundaries being moved i may not be allowed into university. It was definitely different back when my mum left school and became a dental nurse where she just started working and then done her exams and then was a qualified dental nurse, without ever having to go to university. One major problem We’d have if employing a lot of migrants into nursing and social care would be “bedside manners”. Because people from other countries have different cultural differences which we may not find appropriate and could cause a lot of effects into someones care. For example, if a migrant social worker had a case of a child being hit a lot but she dismissed the case due to it being a normal cultural practice in their country.

One great problem is we require extremely rigorous academic training for professions which frankly can do as well, if not better, with less academic training. Take the case of paramedics, nurses, masseurs etc. This is so in every profession. It needlessly creates artificial shortages as not as many people are intellectually equipped to go through such rigorous and frankly needless academic training. If we reduce the training standards to more practical levels we will have a vastly increased pool of candidates and that means lower costs for patrons. It may also mean improved quality of service as more competition. And in individual training itself less rigorous training actually means better professionals ad course is more practice oriented and teaches things that are actually useful.
Totally agree with the principle we need more people, but it is a TARGETED migration policy (and fostering natality) we need not just open gates. Probably overweighting EU migration whether it is EU 15, EU2, etc is more culturally compatible over time. And some people are more likely to come back if they remain closer

A family of four that makes 1 and ⅔s, just about 50,000, is considered impoverished in this country - and therefore entitled to more money or aid. And they're in the top 1% of worldwide wealth. What does that tell you? Tells me even the poor in this country are extremely rich already. Tells me we, as a society, value property too much. Tells me we've forgotten that having kids is important - so important, it didn't require electricity for 2 million years! I'm not saying we should go back to living in caves. But, come on. Contraception was a mistake. Refusing to have big families because you want a Maibatsu Monstrosity or five flat screen TVs or five consoles or cable TV with pay per view... it's imbalanced. It's bad for you. It's bad for us all.
Just so everyone understands there is no way Europe is reversing this trend. You have people that are more concerned about advancing their careers, making more money, travelling and having fun whereas having children is a massive expense (the USDA projects a child born in 2015 within the US would cost about $233K USD to raise to 18 and that doesn't include college tuition or the years after college you'll likely have to support them as they get on their feet) then there's the immense time investment you have to put into raising your kids rather than developing skills that advance your career, travelling, having fun with your friends, etc... It really won't get easier on Europe either as immigrants are going to increasingly demand more fed up with the status quo all the while Europe will have a major problem investing in the training of both legal and particularly illegal immigrants to take on in demand careers.

Why does Europe's population have to be perpetually increasing? Europe's population was much smaller in the last two centuries. Children are extremely dependent untill they are 15 or so. Old people are often self-supporting and contribute much in volunteer labour. Elderly people make it possible for their daughters to be taxpayers, by shouldering some of the burden of raising the children. If Europe isn't raising a lot of children then they can support old people instead.

This is the issue, cheep pay with a saturated workforce. We don't need them, give the work to all the engineer s out of work. Increase pay so we can afford to buy a house. We do not need economic migrants, more babies will come if couples feel safe in their own homes and a good stable paying job. Whilst the ultimate solution is to literally just get people to have more kids, the Taxpayer:Pensioner ratio won’t go up until like 20 years when the kids become adults and start paying taxes. Depending on the country, it might already be too late. Stopping abortion isn’t going to do anything significant other than potentially making people keep kids they may not be able to financially afford. Not sure about other EU countries but I think it’s the similar but the UK already does a lot to support families: Benefits for families with 3 or more children, Guaranteed Maternal and Paternal Leave, Children get free education, medical and dental care. So I really don’t know what else they can do other than taxing Parents less. So immigration seems to be the best short term solution. Or you can decrease pensions to pensioners, increase the age of pension from 65 to 70 or you can make it law that anyone over the age of 80 are destined to die and can’t be put into a life support if they need to be. All of which will bound to make some group unhappy (though the last one was a cruel joke 😅).
Not sure what you mean by integrate. They generally learn the language, if they didn't know it already, contribute to the labour force because most want to find jobs in order to start/support families, etc... If you mean by assimilate, as in they abandon their foreign languages and traditions then yeah they'll likely refuse I know I won't and my dream was to move back to my ancestral nation with my wife and future kids.
100% technology will replace a lot of jobs, but it's a lot more than just low skilled workers. We have a video when we talk about automation of creative/office jobs if you're interested. Also as discussed in this video it's not primarily low skilled jobs immigrants are doing. A huge number do professional jobs. In addition to this, as the video says, have a shortfall in the number of nurses and healthcare professions, jobs which are comparatively hard for automation to replace.
Agreed. Sure it's not just low skilled jobs, AI will replace many industries eventually. However, if young works are needed why not look to places like Greece with a 45% unemployment rate (not to mention Italy, Spain etc). Germany does have a much lower youth unemployment rate (6% I believe), however, that does not strike me as a rate that is desperate for young workers? Why not train up the current unemployed European youth for nursing and healthcare professions? Otherwise they will have to rely on the government and put a strain on the economy. Not to mention it really does depend on the individual migrant. A hard working healthcare professional from Syria would surely have a positive impact. Additional to migration you could try to increase the fertility rate towards 2.1 children per woman. Just saying. This could be schieved with enough children daycare facilities adna culture where fathers are incouraged to look after their children. You increasingly have people who are more concerned about making more money and advancing their careers, travelling and living the high life whereas children are an IMMENSE expense not just in terms of money but time. The USDA projected that it would cost about $233K USD to raise a child born in 2015 until the age of 18 but that doesn't include the cost of college/university and even after that you'd likely still have to support them for a few years as they get on their feet. Then there's the massive time investment you could have spent learning new skills to advance your career, missed opportunities to travel or go out with friends. Frankly modern Western culture is anti-family.
You can make the argument that Europe needs a growing population, but it's a logical leap to say that growth must come from migration. For the entire history of the continent, population growth has come naturally through reproduction.

What reproduction? Europeans aren't having kids anymore. Of 100 people I know between the ages of 25 and 35, only around 20 have kids. And most of those who don't have kids have declared that they never want to have kids. They all own a house and have well-paid jobs. They'd just rather travel, enjoy their life, go out with friends....

Just because something was possible in the past doesn't mean it is right now. We can't own slaves, we can't invent the car again, we can't fear death by a small infection, the list goes on... Migration is the worst of solutions to this particular problem, but it's the best one we got right now.

I'm from Latin America and is incredible when you go to Europe. So many old people, such a few children... Of course is just a perception but I feel that the numbers are conservative on how much the population is decreasing.
Except that they are not facts. The productivity of a nation increases its prosperity, not GDP growth alone. You can grow GDP by simply having more people, whilst simultaneously increasing poverty.

I guess this is what happens when people decide to have smaller families or no children. A lot of people are materialistic, so more interests go in for getting more unnecessary things rather than having more children. So, stuff like extra cars, bigger luxurious homes, and other junk, and then endeavouring to keep up with other richer families to stay on par is what people may aim for, rather than having families. They'd rather prolong marriage or never get married at all. Things were much different a century ago where families were more intact and functional and the traditional family and family roles were honoured. Now more and more families are dysfunctional, with people being more narcissistic, materialistic, not concerned about raising a future generation, divorce rates are high, etc. It's likely that more traditional Christians, and people of other religions like Islam and Hinduism maybe more keen on having large families rather than their counterparts.
There is also the factor that children went from a valuable source of income that could help at work to a financial liability that will need massive investment over about 20 years to be self reliant. Making young educated workers is a VERY expensive process! And I am not saying this because I only care about money. No. Most rural families in Portugal used to have 4, 5 or 6 kids. Any modern urban family would risk ending up in the street if they tried the same thing! So why not take in the ones right at the doorstep of our nation? Even if their education is only halfway done, paying for the necessary courses is still cheaper and faster than getting someone all the way from diapers to finance.
@@EzekielCarvalho yeah. Any measures to increase natality would be SLOW. They are worth it, but we need something that can keep our contry from turning into a half empty senior home until then. And just look at that, thousands of guys lining up to get into any european country!

A shrinking population is a good thing. Migrants cost. They create a need for more infrastructure that all citizens have to pay for, not just the newcomers that make it necessary. Why does anyone think that all those Africans and Asians will vote for politicians who will look after ageing white people? More likely they will vote for politicians who will let them bring more of their relatives in.
Great video, delighted i found your channel. I would disagree with one point you make though. Yes, immigration to the UK has dropped since the Brexit vote, but its a leap to assume this was actually caused by the brexit vote. UK voting Brexit also coincided with an improvement in the economies of the EU 27, and many developing countries. It could just be a case that there are more jobs in these countries than there were before, so less people decide to immigrate to the UK.
The fact that migrants actually contribute a 0.34% net profit as a whole aswell as this its all the proof I need that we need them. If u wonder why the coutry is so crippled, might want to look at why the U.K has the 9 poorest places in Europe while also having the number 1 richest place. Trust me it's the rich people in the city of London not immigrants...
