That was one of the funniest unboxing videos I have ever seen lol! The Fanatec unboxing experience is designed to supposedly take you on a once-in-a-lifetime mystical journey to a new world and you literally just chucked it to side to get at the real stuff lol. Love it.

Marc, two weeks ago I made almost exactly the same upgrade from Logitech to Fanatec and shaved the same 2 seconds off my best time at Imola by the 3rd lap. Since then, I've found another 3 seconds. 5 seconds total in just two weeks. Of course the future improvements will come at a much slower pace but I share your excitement.

Guess Fanatec will be very pleased that they sent you the kit. Money well spent for them!

I'm glad they didn't send you a direct drive kit. Your head would have exploded. Better to ease you in. I always felt that the pedals, especially the brake pedal can be a game changer.

Hi Marc! Great video. Just one note regarding the kit you got. In the video I haven't seen you install the brake load cell mod. This is the most important when it comes to lap times. Your braking consistency will go through the roof! Cheers.

Having got my Fanatec Clubsport 2.5 only 1 week before you posted on instagram about yours, I totally appreciated and recognise that smile after your first try haha. Wish you had it hooked up to a PC because couple it with a hardcore sim like RFactor with its renown brilliant FFB its like a damn dream lol. In VR I can totally immerse myself in a Fezza GTE car lapping lemans, love it! Glad you got the virginity gloves too hehe, they reall ydo serve a good purpose of not wrecking your alcatera rim :)

Super super awesome! Would love to see you on the virtual track some day! Looks like you have some massive flex in the chassis that will definitely affect your steering and braking, but once you fix that, you'll find more even more precision, consistency, and better FFB feel.

Well that’s the happiest I’ve seen someone unbox something. I have the F1 rim too and it is a piece of art! You need a stronger rig so that the pedal base does not flex. I have an Omega GT ART rig that I think is obsolete now but take a look at their products, very stable. I think that a lot of lap time is delivered by more accurate and consistent braking and having a firm base on which to apply the brake pressure will transform your game again.

As a husband with children i know its not likely that you would spend so much on yourself for a hobby to purchase that equipment. So glad to see you enjoy it!

I've been sim racing for the past couple of months using Logitech gear. Always around 2 seconds a lap off the top guys........looks like Fanatec is on my Christmas list!

Great review, Elvis. This has been on my and my son’s wish list. (We have the same gear you were on before.). We’ve gotten the PC first, so that we could try iRacing, ACC and rF2, but that’s made this seem even more direly needed.

I went from a similar (an old G27) to a similar setup (CSL base (not Clubsport unfortunately)), with the Formula v2 wheel. I found the load cell braking has been a big game-changer for me. Someone also suggested actually turning down the force feedback, which was great advice.

From what I've heard and personally experienced, one of the biggest changes (i.e. improvements) in terms of consistency and performance is from getting a loadcell I got mine a little while ago, and very quickly I realised just how much of a game changer it really is

I just tested my new clubsport V2.5 with the BMW GT2 wheel, total gamechanger like you said, within 5 laps I was 1.5s faster than my old record on the T300 in which I did 40+ laps. I understand your happiness, my wife said I looked happier after trying the new wheel than on our wedding day haha

loved watching this - the excitement is genuine, and that's some good kit. On the pedals - noticed a lot of frame movement / flex when when the pressure is applied to the brake - so once you get a better frame the brakes will become even better !! Welcome to our world ! enjoy it, we do :)

Just got the same system as you! Absolutely love it. Had the same flexing issues with my rig so invested in a playseat f1. Cant recommend it enough . Wonder if playseat can send you one of those too 😂👍🏼

I just got fanatec gear yesterday, same 2.5 wheelbase and r330 rim, wish I'd grabbed the f1 v2 rim... thats next I think. Compared to a g29/920 the difference is crazy, the only way to explain the difference in feeling would be to say the g29 is like sticking your hand in a tin of gravel and the fanatec gear is like sticking your hand in a tin of gloss paint... if you can imagine the difference in your mind right now that is exactly the difference between the wheel bases, difference in smoothness is immense.

Now the trick is for people like me who create custom FFB experiences (in my case Christiaan's Pure FFB file for Project CARS 2) is how to further improve upon getting that realistic feedback through that wheel to such a degree that you can jump from the rear car in the sim and back and feel at home right away. So it's not only the gear it's also how the physics get translated into that crucial force feedback, especially because most are seated stationary. Marc, can I advise you on one new rig that will get you set for life and is rock solid. Go with the Sim-Lab P1-X! They just got into a partnership with Mercedes-Petronas and they wouldn't choose Sim-Lab if it wasn't the best out there. I have the precursor the Sim-Lab P1 which is basically the same and I can with 80kg stand on every part of the rig and it won't budge. Heck, I even used the rig as a ladder to change the light, albeit not recommended for safety. 😆

About time you upgraded Marc! Fanatec was a real great upgrade for me due to the "realism/feel"

The pedals sound as if they make more of a difference than the wheel

You're about to go down a rabbit hole now Elvis, Soon you'll have a motion rig, direct drive wheel and a hydraulic brake, triple 1440p monitors, and you'll be pwning noobs like a veteran, I feel a separate sim racing channel coming on. Get yourself an Iracing account, you'll have a ball once you get out of the lower classes and there are lots of real racers on there.

I've never seen anyone open boxes as fast as that lol, also it looks epic and Mrs p's face would have been a picture seeing the boxs that turned up and it looks epic

I switched from a g29 to the Fanatec Csl Elite with the load cell. It is a big improvement in quality without a doubt. The biggest difference for me was the Load Cell Brake. That alone will give you a tenth a corner because you can fine tune how you brake so much easier aswell as being able to get on full brake a little sooner. Going from 2kg pressure on the g29 to putting 70kg pressure on the load cell feels way more natural for racing.

Not a bad present to turn up on your doorstep!

I think the most time I've gained on track came from using the loadcel pedals, and I went from a playseat to a next level racing gt track rig a bit pricey but i couldn't be happier no more wobble.

I can believe it, as I made the same switch 2 months ago. Get yourself a stiffer cockpit and you'll feel so much more.

Cool stuff Mark! You will love it! The difference will be night and day. Just need to get rid of the F1 game and PC2 and you will be set for sim racing heaven! All you need now is a PC, AC, VR and a better rig!

I'd like to watch your observations using this new kit with the physics in iRacing. It would fun to watch you evolve and post your experiences advancing along the road license in open wheel series until you reach the updated McLaren MP4-30. You'd only be able to race with it once you reach an A license, but you could test drive it. You would likely find the physics model much more informative thru the wheel than the F1 game. I'd be interested to learn from your engineering perspective how to interpret driving at the limit, the control as the car slides, the rotation of grip on the four wheel during a whole phase of cornering.

To get even better, more clear feedback and a more realistic experience you need to try iRacing. It’s much much much more serious in terms of competition as well, and has laser scanned tracks, and a much better tire model. I find that the F1 game feels like a game, where iRacing feels much more like a legitimate simulator.

Marc, love your videos. you deserve more then 64k subs and keep doing what you do and when the new regulations for F1 start, you will have at least 150000. We need to file a complaint to Fanatec for not hooking you up with dd2. This base with this amazing wheel is a crime. You deserve better :P

my fanatec csl elite bundle is better than my pedals and wheel in my personal car. I drive a 2018 model volvo. Thats how amazing they are

Considering going clubsport myself. My G27 is on its last legs - one of the two motors is starting to chatter, and it feels like it’s slowly eating itself. I’d love to go DD, but I can’t justify the price, nor the additional costs needed to get a rig to hold it. Good to see your reaction to it coming from a similar logi wheel.

You certainly need a different rig, the flex in that thing is crazy, your peddle plate aswell, holy moly is that thing moving, its all acting as a damper at the moment, certainly upgrade that rig and you will be in a great place. I personally use a gt omega titan, its a fairly affordable upgrade from a playseat, very stable, fully adjustable, no centre bar in front of your peddles, just a world of difference. Oh and that lap time almost certainly came from the peddles, but yeh the wheel is amazing, so smooth and informative.

From what your feedback proves why Lando uses his rig all the time and why after Lando telling Carlos how much he gets from his rig Carlos went out and got his, then got Lando to go round and set it up for him.

To make the comparison more precise it would have made sense to go back to your previous wheel and see the laptime you can set with it again to wipe out the seat time factor that might have skewed the results.

A guys used to rent an office from my old work place and loads of this make got delivered here, he said he worked for fanatec. He was not very helpful when I asked about a set up for my son's xbox'. But I remember the price of the wheel being over a 1000 pounds. Lol.
