Does Florida have the best shells? I certainly think so - especially here in Southwest Florida. The seashells here are beautiful and we certainly have plenty of them!

Would you consider going to Manasota Key north of Stump Pass Beach? I know you hand gone to Stump Pass once before... I'm wondering what a true sheller like you could find there. Love your channel, its so relaxing to watch you shell and listen to the beach sounds in the background

I recently went back to Honeymoon Island - I really wanted more turbans and I wanted my husband to see the island too, so I would very much like to hit some other beaches up North. It's nuts that beaches that are physically closer to me take me longer to drive to, but Manasota Key is only about 1.5 hours so I will likely try it up that way at some point!

Hello, my Beach Angel! How happy the sound of your voice makes me! I have been looking forward to this video all week. Let's go to the beach! Call me weird, but I really like jingles! They are so many pretty colors! Hey, that's the best Alphabet Cone I've seen in a good while. Good spotting. Another beautiful Alphabet Cone to go with the first one. Cool! Oh, I love those big white scallops! And another gorgeous Alphabet Cone! It's your day for those, girl! That is an amazing fossil! It looks like a Lion's Paw! How wonderful! Okay, that True Tulip is the best shell of the day, hands down! Congratulations! I, too, am enamored with the Colorful Moon Snails. They are so lovely. The Creator must have smiled when He was making those. Keewaydin Island is so beautiful! I may never get there but I enjoy tagging along with you, Beach Angel. Thanks for allowing me to join you! You did make a great haul today, didn't you? I'm so happy for you, darling. Much love to you and all my fellow would-be beach bums from here in the colorful mountains of East Tennessee. We like to say, at this season, that God laid His crazy quilts to dry upon the mountains. Rebecca, The Lost Mermaid

I Love your quote about the "crazy quilts"! I'm a quilter, and I sooo Love the fall colors. I live in Sacramento, CA; we are a city of many, many trees. Fall is beautiful here. And, if that's not enough, we have the Foothills and the CA Nevada Sierra Mountain Range; tons of Fall Color. 😊

I am finally feeling the chill in the air and I've already had a few chilly mornings. It's about the time of year that I dread the cold, but I anticipate how amazing the beaches are going to be. The cold winds help get those shells onto the beach so I get to win either way. If it' warmer - yay! If it's cooler - more shells and yay again! I'm such a lucky gal! ❤️❤️❤️

Question here...How long (approximately) does it take for the "garbage glass" to turn into collectable "sea glass"?
@SWFBeachLife
@SWFBeachLife 11 месяцев назад
I do not know the answer to that, but I would think quite a while. The glass would need to tumble enough to get all the bits and pieces round and frosted. There is a beach in California that is completely made of sea glass! traveladvo.com/sea-glass-beach-california-everything-you-need-to-know/

Once upon a time in a world under the ocean, there lived a gang of Paper Figs. These delicate, nearly transparent shells were known for their fragility, their modest beauty, and their penchant for mischief. They were tired of being seen as delicate creatures, and they were determined to prove that they could be just as mischievous as the other sea creatures. The leader of the Paper Fig gang was a particularly mischievous shell named Shimmer. Shimmer was the mastermind behind many of their outrageous pranks. One day, they decided to play a prank on the wise old sea turtle, Grandpa Tidal. Grandpa Tidal was revered by all the sea creatures, and they thought he was maybe too old and wise to fall for their tricks but they were going to try anyway. The gang of Paper Fig shells waited until Grandpa Tidal was peacefully napping on a sunny coral reef. They knew that he loved his naps and was very probably going to be a little upset. Shimmer and the gang gathered a school of tiny, ticklish sea anemones and carefully placed them around the sleeping turtle. As Grandpa Tidal snored away, the anemones began to gently tickle his flippers. The turtle's ancient eyes shot open, and he flailed his flippers wildly, thinking he was under attack. But when he saw the delicate Paper Fig shells giggling mischievously, he couldn't help but chuckle. "Well, well, I never thought you delicate shells had it in you!" Grandpa Tidal laughed. The Paper Fig gang had successfully pulled off their first outrageous prank of the day. The next time, their target was Grumpy Grouper, the grumpiest and grouchiest fish in the entire ocean. Grumpy Grouper was infamous for scaring away other sea creatures with his constant scowls and gloomy disposition. The Paper Fig gang knew that Grumpy Grouper had a hidden treasure trove of shiny objects that he collected over the years. So, they decided to make him smile, even if just for a moment. They gathered all the shiny seashells, pearls, and glistening sea glass they could find and created a dazzling underwater trail leading to Grumpy Grouper's lair. As the gang carefully placed each shiny item along the path, they couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of Grumpy Grouper's reaction. Once they finished, they swam away to a safe distance and waited in anticipation. When Grumpy ventured out of his lair and saw the sparkling trail, he was stunned. He followed the glimmering path, his scowl slowly turning into an expression of bewilderment. As he reached the end of the trail and discovered the treasure trove, his eyes widened, and for the first time in years, he broke into a wide grin. The Paper Fig shells couldn't believe their eyes as they watched the Grumpy Old Grouper marvel at the shiny treasures and even do a little dance of joy. They had successfully turned the grumpiest fish in the ocean into the happiest. It seemed that even the most unlikely targets could fall victim to their pranks. From that day on, Grumpy Grouper's reputation began to change. No longer known for his scowls, he became a happier and more approachable fish, all thanks to the gang of Paper Fig shells and their outrageous pranks. They had once again proven that appearances could be deceiving, and even the grumpiest old fish could be brought to laughter with a little undersea pranking and that the most delicate creatures could be capable of the most outrageous mischief. As word of their pranks spread throughout the undersea world, the Paper Fig shells became renowned for their clever pranks and their ability to bring laughter and surprise to the ocean's depths. They were no longer thought of as delicate, but as the mischievous jesters of the undersea world, and they wore their newfound reputation with pride. :)

I don't get to the beach often but I love shells! I find some at garage & yard sales now & then and recently found some that have hot glue on them. Would you by any chance know how to get that stuff off?? Thanks so much for all you do, enjoy all your videos so much! And thanks for reading all of our comments!

If I had shells with hot glue on them I would probably try to pick as much off as I could and then maybe try to soften the glue with a hair dryer and continue to remove the glue. OR, I would reuse them on a craft that I wanted to make, hiding the glue when I reused the shell. Good luck to you!

I loved your video as always. I would do anything to have a pink pointed lace murex and a straight lipped alphabet cone in my collection, from Keewaydin Island. If you are prepared to part with two of each and maybe a very pointy auger, please leave me a line and your e-mail. I will of course pay for all the shells, as well as the postage, especially if you could add two red pointed nutmegs and a calico clam. Thanks and keep those videos coming!

I am currently (Nov 19 2023) on Madeira beach and there are no shells?? Why not?

The beach changes each day and the shells are moved with the winds and tides. You have to start with the right beach, and then visit at the right time - first thing or low tide.

I love your vids, keep it up! Just wondering, how do you know a shell is a albino and not just bleached out by sun until fully white? 😊
@SWFBeachLife
@SWFBeachLife 11 месяцев назад
The sun-bleached shells would have had to be on the beach for a very long time. The shells would get smoother and won't have its fine ridges and lines. For me I just know at this point because I've picked up so many shells. The albino white color is whiter than the sun bleached white shells.

Oh, I love sea glass. I do think your area of Florida has fabulous shells. Oh, I have a cone I found but I am not sure if it is a Florida cone or an alphabet cone. It is light orange in the markings.
@SWFBeachLife
@SWFBeachLife 11 месяцев назад
If it is white with orange spots, you likely have an alphabet cone 😃

Love the trips to Keewayden. Just a quick question,,,,,have you ever documented a Junonia on one of your adventures? They just don't appear very often.....good shelling!
@SWFBeachLife
@SWFBeachLife 11 месяцев назад
Now those junonias are the shells that all us shellers are looking for. Very rare since the animal lives in deep water. I have not found a whole junonia yet, and I haven't found even a piece in a while. "They" say that the junonias find you so I guess mine hasn't located me yet!
@jantaylor2034
@jantaylor2034 11 месяцев назад
@@SWFBeachLife 🙂Well, as often as you go shelling, Sharmon, you're certainly making yourself available for the junonias!! One should find you eventually!

So, I have the chance to go to Florida this December & I LOVE SEASHELLS. Which beach in Florida is the absolute best for guaranteed good shells? This will be my only chance to get to Florida for probably a few years, so I definitely want to go to the best beach.
@SWFBeachLife
@SWFBeachLife 11 месяцев назад
I am only familiar with the beaches in Southwest Florida so I can't speak to all the other beaches in the state. I personally like Sanibel, which does have places open on the beach, but I also like the Marco Island and the 10K islands and the shell tours. Both have fabulous shells!

Fantastic day shelling. I'm coming to Sanibel in January. I have time for one shelling cruise. Would you recommend going to Keeywaydin or Kice looking alphabet cones? Thanks for the advice.
@SWFBeachLife
@SWFBeachLife 11 месяцев назад
Both islands have been oh so good to me, but I like walking the beaches of Keewaydin. You honestly won't go wrong with either island, but you can get to Keewaydin with less $$ if you go with Hemingway Water Shuttle: www.hemingwaywatershuttle.com
