As a Mexican fan I’m actually scared the US finally woke up and decided that football is the biggest sport in the world so they want glory in it . The mls expansion in the Past ten years is super aggressive and risky but it seems to be working out. Mexican teams are really average and we hardly play any young talent in the league or ship them out abroad! The Mexican federation has to wake up now we need to be sending young talent abroad to Portugal and Spain even if it’s the second division. It does not matter .
@@Joseperez-oz7to the US is still way behind any good teams and mexico will riae again its not like they lost badly lol . Remember mexico still has more untaoped potential than the US
@@Butter.Toast11 - The man. The myth. The legend. Zlatan, the Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man...", and Chuck Norris dream of being a fraction of the man Scott Sterling is!
@@eddielorentz8019 I’ve seen him play in numerous shirts and I’ve seen every striker we’ve had in the last 20 years. So I can 100% say we’ve never had a talent like Balogun.
Hope he gets a big move this summer. Hes been linked with AC Milan strongly and would probably start or compete to start, would be a great move for him..not that i have a bias or anything.
This is a complete mischaracterisation of Southgate. He's the only England manager I can remember that selects purely based on what he needs, regardless of the name on the shirt. This is probably why Balogun has switched, because he knows there are so many players ahead of him. Even at Arsenal he's behind Nketia.
@@Slipdisc1984 Maguire is immense for England, and every CB that has been tried in place of him (like Tomori, the hipsters choice) has come up short by comparison.
In a 5 back I agree. It’s the style of southgate . So I’m not totally making fun of him. In fact he gets made fun of too much. Had a lot of bad luck . I’m saying that he is reluctant to try different formations.
Seb saying that when we get a big players we don't want to over hype him made me laugh. I feel like every single young player we've gotten has been over hyped and we expect them to fix all our problems. Don't get me wrong balogun is an exciting player but we shouldn't expect to solve all our problems.
My thoughts exactly hes another piece of thie mediocre team buy hopefully he can bring something as you said all US players gave been overhyped and when it comes to the big moments not one player has stopd out not even pulisic if we're being honest. I like his style and all but as in my country we have elite national team and more often than not we overhype young fowards and especially if theyre killing it at the club level but sadly the media is to blame so when most fowards fail in the national team its not so shocking. As i said and remind fellow americans. One thing is club level the other is national level ill give you a hint many fail at national team level even the ones who are doing great in there clubs. Its part of football. Finding great players is like finding a needle in a haystack you could go generations without great players but eventually with hard work and patience you can get a messi or at least cheap verson of messi lol Its very hard though
I said after the world cup that the US needs to find a striker from somewhere over the next four years. I didn't mean poach one of ours lol. Well done. I hope he's a big success.
While I'm glad he's coming and he'll help the team, I can't wait for a couple of more decades. Hopefully, we'll get players by then because we're so good not because they're not quite good enough for other teams.
@@tayxicfox9512he wasnt good enough for emgland stop lying lol he wasnt even good enough for nigeria that has young talented players . He was just lazy and preferred to represent a nation he only lived for in two years because he doesnt want a challenge or to fight for his spot against the young talent in nigeria pr the young talent in england. Simply lazy and i hope he fails for that lazy mentality
He's the best #9 in the USMNT squad. Everyone else is either playing in MLS or a lower-quality European league. If you have 20 goals in Ligue 1, you deserve to start.
Looking bright? People were saying that in 2018 and in 2022 but what happened? Usa is always ‘looking bright’ for the future, always about the future but the future never comes lol
@@worldisfilledb It's ok man. Keep hating on the country that always eats at the Olympics. Americans are starting to take to soccer. You would think people who love the sport would be happy but there seems to be some that think football/soccer is exclusively theirs. It's ok tho. Only a matter of time. There isn't anything special in the water in Europe that miraculously makes them better at the game. If the market in America demands it we make it happen.
@@worldisfilledb Aside from Argentina, France, Germany, Brazil, Italy and maybe Spain who all eats at the world cup? These are teams where their respective nations see the game as a religion. NFL and NBA will always be ours but like I said IF Americans decide we want to actually give two shits about the game we'll take it. Like we take everything else. If that bothers you I understand man. American exceptionalism. 💪🏻😉
@@irwinvasquez9858 usa can barely get to round of 16 and didnt qualify last time out in 2018 i wouldnt call that eating at all and you think america can just develop a passion and love for football at the drop of a dime? Hahaha passion and true love for the game is what makes great footballing nations, you thinking american can bypass that and become number one is a joke lol they suck now and were garbage in the winter but they eating? Haha
The only way USA goes far in the 2026 World Cup is to get rid of this “pay to play” system they have and really look at the home grown talent they can gather together. They would be one of the top teams in the world if they did that.
The best players I’ve ever played with growing up were guys who’s families didn’t have enough money to get them on a club where they would get noticed. There is so much undiscovered talent in USA
Amazing to think that by 2026 we could be looking at a prime Flo AND Pepi as striker options. My, how things are changing! As long as these young guys keep developing the USMNT could do some real damage in the next world cup.
How is it a big mistake? England are stacked in forward positions and nobody knows how good he will be. Arsenal have no interest in having back so that speaks volumes
We need Dest to become a better player. He is not well-rounded at all. I don't think anyone in the US actually watches his club games, he was awful for Barca and Milan
I know all my friends that root for mexico are going to hate me for my opinions and comments but at the end of the day they can't take my love and passion I have for my USA team, solo pa delante
I would too, now he will be a starter striker and star player of a national team. If he went with England he would probably be on the bench. He simply will get more goals playing in CONCACAF instead of Europe.
At the end of the day all I want is who ever wears our crest is to wear it with pride and give us the reason to believe. As much as I love my USA team and understand and respect our limits as a soccer country I hope my Lord gives me the privilege to see my USA lift the World Cup trophy before he takes me to his Kingdom 🙏
I kinda feel bad for him, lowering his expectations to represent a country hes not that passionate about...i think he shoulve waited it out until the summer was over to know his fate with Arsenal's first team...maybe he wouldve gotten a move to BVB or stayed in the Premier league but with a team like Aston Villa...he just needs more visibility and to prove himself on a bigger platform plus i think Southgate is as good as gone by Euro 2024,England cant afford to be the bridesmaid again..he shoulve waited it out at least till the summer
Imagine a old school 4-4-2 with Pepi and Balogun up top. Pulisic left, Weah right, Reyna through the middle, adams at cdm. Wild what the potential lineups could be.
Getting Flo is amazing but if we stick to playing the same we have, where our striker is made to defend like they have been. I agree with Herc, when now, the coach is as important as ever. Jesse Marsch will not work
Think he makes the team of course and trains with the boys but he needs to earn his starting spot. It would be unfair to the other strikers if they just give the spot away to him immediately
Thank you FA for not announcing the Toney suspension until after Balogun committed to US! 😊. But, I suspect Southgate knew that was going to happen before it was announced. Just guessing.
@@skp8748 and where is Musiala now in terms of international football? exactly. Can’t pin everything on Southgate because he said exactly how he felt months ago and there was nothing wrong in what he said either. Balogun didn’t have the ambition to put in the work of getting into the England squad. Your first good season isn’t going to cut it 🤷♀️ why? Cause I can’t think of ONE England player currently who walked straight into the team playing as a FORWARD specifically after having one good season. Look at Ivan Toney for example
@@skp8748 of course he’s getting more minutes with Germany, they’re team is washed up at this point 😂 not making it out of the group stages and getting knocked out by the same country he switched allegiance from at the Euros is CERTAINLY progress…
As a Englishman, the FA and Southgate messed up, took way too long to invite him into the fold. As a Arsenal fan, Im happy for him and hope the big experiences ahead make him a better player
@@peanutbread8569 He doesn't but you never know how things can change in a few years. Could anyone imagine how quick Rooney's decline was? Or how Toney got so good even though he was League One for half of his 20s, then ofc getting banned for 8 months due to gambling. Is it a guarantee that Balogun will be like Toney or Kane will decline like Rooney? Ofc not. But remember that professional players have beaten astronomical odds to even reach the professional level, so many are going to have a ton of ambition. Some players aren't patient and some are. Clearly Balogun didn't want to wait and see how things would turn out.
The US plays a lot of games in Central America. He's more likely to get tired and injured than if he stayed in the England setup. The travel and number of games will shorten his career. Pulisic is always injured. In England, he would develop at a slower pace.
Even if he got to play with England , he’d play a lot more games against tougher competition than in Central America. If England can be relegated from nations league so could the US if they played there
Lol of course he walks in- immediately get him caps so he can’t change course plus he’s better than anyone we’ve had in reality or as a prospect up front in ages (possibly ever)
@@TivoKenevil You think the US can play like Man City? 🤣🤣🤣 Okay let's look at Man City, a hybrid formation with a leftback, a rightback and two proper centrebacks, with one of them pushing up into midfield when in possession. 🤡
Based on UEFA coefficient france is a top 6 league soon to be top 7, getting passed bye the Eredivise . I'm more interested what he will do for Arsenal next season bc he better than Nketiah
How many have we seen of these dual international come into the US and disappoint? I think way too many, hope he does well but he might not have the drive to make it that’s still what we have to see.
The way pepi has shown himself to the USMNT i believe pepi should start against Mexico idk why he didnt go to qatar but time to give him another honest chance forlan is good but pepi is proven and saved gregg berhalters job . I love forlan but pepi id the wau to go idc about numbers shown in france and comparing numbers to kylian . Pepi has shown his valor and skills . Play pepj please agaisnt Mexico itll leave the players a better taste in the mouth and the fans instead of using and discarding a player who helped the team forlan has much to prove . Add him as a sub in mexico game
I don’t think he IMMEDIATELY walks into the starting 11, but he’s definitely top 2 and fighting with Pepi immediately for that no 9 spot (which I think he’ll win)
I'm giving Herc the benefit of the doubt, and believe that he really is referring to Balogun's "age group." Not 22 as Haaland is or +/- one year of 21 (Balogun's age), but only 21.
He wouldn't have a spot in Englands squad as well as he's played. He'd get zero recognition in Nigeria. Good choice and pick up for the US i hope they compensate him well.
Loool name 5 England strikers that scored 10+ league goals Harry kane will be 34 by the wc... Toney is now missing 8months of football after his breakout season.. Who else is there? Callum Wilson 😂
@@skp8748 Not international standard? He played brilliantly at the World Cup and got an assist in his short time on the pitch. He’s far better than that nobody the USA were playing up top. Where does he even play? Some garbage club in the MLS like Delaware Dodgers or something..
I'm very excited for this, but the fact that Hercules Gomez put all of those strikers ahead of Jesus Ferreira who at 22 which is just 1-year-older, has been doing and scoring more than at least four of the players he added to that list of strikers is insane. I know Jesus didn't have a great world cup, but that was because he had absolutely no service whatsoever. I still think that Jesus should be top four contenders for striker for the national team. He continues to do it day in and day out for FC Dallas, and we've had people make the squad with less excellence than that... Aka Jordan Morris
Ferreira only scores against low level teams in CONCACAF. Who cares if he runs up the score against Grenada? We don't be playing against them in the World Cup. It's like saying we should be starting Wondo. He scored a ton in MLS and all we have to his name in the World Cup is that miss against Belgium. Level matters and Ferreira's level isn't as high. If he wants to prove us wrong, he needs to show he can actually do it against good competition by scoring in a good league.
@@megamonster1234 he'll only did badly in the world cup because he had to drop back into his own half like Harry Kane does. He had absolutely no service that entire game, it was not his fault at all. But at the moment teams in Germany are looking to bid for him in the summer, so you might see him in a proper league scoring goals regularly soon 🤷🏽
@@hyperrat12 You're acting like he only play poorly in the World Cup. He did badly in every game leading up the World Cup against any team that was remotely good. Someone did a statistical analysis and it was something like he only ever scored against teams with a FIFA rank of 50 or higher. Heck, he even does badly in the MLS playoffs.
Hi Sebi and Herc! I don’t know where to post a comment. I don’t have twitter or insta, but you guys are all over the place. Chivas just beat American! If chivas don’t need Zendejas neither does the national team. Flo is just another hipped up player, until we see him making a dent In concacaf.
