I fell in the “I don’t need to feel His love I just need to worship Him” camp until I read more of and about St Therese and now I crave it. After 46 years I’m just starting to ask Him for it.

Ok let me try this answer. 1 Physical touch: God is not touchable but His creatures are. Hug other human beings, touch pets, flowers, grass. Give the sign of peace. 2 Words of affirmation: Any prayer is that, towards God Almighty, specially Contrition and Our Father/Lord's Prayer or saying Holy Heart of Jesus, I trust in you. 3 Acts of Service: Treat your neighbor with merciful actions. 4 Time of Quality: Going to Mass, Holy Hour. If you are secular, opt in to do the Liturgy of the Hours. If you are consecrated, fulfill your vow to pray it. 5 Gift: Consacration to God of yourself, Consacration of a Host with the priest or asking a priest to bless an object as rosary beads.

Take in the simple things He does- sunrise, creation…It starts with your prayer life. Ask, ask, and ask again. He’ll reveal it to you.
One time I was alone and (mentally) hurting so bad. I felt love surrounding me. It was an awesome experience. That love surrounded me until I had no tears. ❤

God has showed me his love through some incredibly important people. My close friend looked at me the other day and said “Abby- you are such a gift.” and I almost cried. I love to love others but I struggle to receive it. He has put such beautiful people in my life and speaks through them. Their words go right to my heart. It’s a shocking feeling. Like I can’t breathe or believe what I’m hearing. My heart particularly hurts today because I have friends graduating and moving on from college and I’m so excited for them but I’m going to miss them so much. It physically hurts. Sometimes I ask the blessed mother to hold me. It’s when I’m hurting that I feel most grounded and childlike. It’s when I feel most receptive of his love.
Praying the Rosary has really comforted me so many times. You will meet new people that you will feel the same way about. And you can still be in touch with your old friends. I know it's not the same as seeing them everyday. God has a plan for you!
God had been so verbal with me for so long, I was dealing with anxiety on a daily basis for the last several years since my divorce. So God had to break through it all for me to hear. Now I'm so much better since late last year. But I ran away from spending time with God, I wondered if I didn't want to hear what He was going to ask of me next... But finally got to the point that God had been preparing me for , losing my Mother, it happened just yesterday. She suffered for 30 years of health problems, but she did it with unfailing faith and love for people. I realized the difference from where I am now is not constantly being pulled along to get to a goal. I was starting to think I wasn't in communication with Him anymore that I had messed up. When really He was using His still small voice. And today I know that both Mom and I ran a race side by side for a long time but now we both get to rest. And I feel nothing but God's love in that. Sometimes what you need changes and God approaches you differently. But His love is the same!
Last night I was looking for a video with this exact content so I opted for the video Father Mike did on feeling unloved. I watched that video for the 2nd or 3rd time and went to look for another video that would give me the exact explanation for my current concern- why can’t I feel God’s love and how can I feel it? So I searched RU-vid for the “right” video but nothing sparked my interest so I went to bed, resolving to try again tomorrow. Then this video popped up today and not only did the content of this video give me an answer to my question but the video itself answered my question. God shows his love for me by overtly showing up in my life like this. He makes it so obvious that He’s with me and listening to me, constantly reassuring me because He knows how I am and I’m so grateful that He does this. Thank you Holy Spirit, thank you Father Mike!!

Fr. Mike, thank you. I see God's love in nature, in hummingbirds, in the sound of wind humming through trees, in sunrises and sunsets, in kindness, in people. Thank you for the reminder that "need" and "want" are two different things. I may want but God knows what I need. Just as a parent knows what his or her child needs - and that child is tantruming over what he/she wants - God knows exactly what I need even through my own "adult tantrum" of what I want. One of my LLs is quality time and it all makes sense now: God loves me through quality time I spend communing in nature, with animals, and with people he sends into my life whether it be just a quick hello or a 30 year friendship. I am blessed.
I absolutely cannot believe I am watching this today. I was just talking to my sister today about having no idea what it feels like to be loved. Talk nothing about feeling God’s love.
I was lucky enough to feel God's Love, and nothing on earth wipes you of your feet the way his Love does. I had to internally scream stop and he only touched me with his little finger, imagine a hug. I'm blessed I know !

God is existence. If God did not love us we would not exist. He sustains us. We but have to look in the mirror and see Gods love in a concrete way. We are because of God’s love.
When I see that I am trying to control my life in crucial periods I remember the IAM and he tells me to be patient. That’s God loving me. My loving him back is giving him the glory to the resolution. Fr. Mike a much needed discussion. Thank you 🙏
Really good. It can hurt not to experience God's love the way we want, but like you said, he gives us his love the way we need. Truth, goodness, beauty are reassurances of his love.
One thing I am struggling with the most: I know God loves me at all times, I am aware of His constant love and mercy, judgement and glory. I am thankful He even gave me the privilege to see His profound love. The problem shows itself when MY love is insufficient and lacking and weak... almost nonexistant. It is so painful to experience the fact that I am being loved infinitely by God, but I cannot love Him back because of my weakness and humanity and sin and my "only". I am unable to love God the way He deserves to be loved. Again, all the love I ever given to God, is again, love that He gave me in order to love Him. I cannot love on my own. EDIT: After a healthy confession, and certain 'events' :) God has shown me an answer. If I would love Him the same way He loves me, it makes me no longer man, but something greater; which is obviously flase, filled with pride and egotistic. God has shown me that I only have to be "only". My weakness and lack of love is His way to fulfill that emptyness and pain. He wanted me to be lacking and weak in order for Him to love me! In today's mass He gave me to pray a psalm which goes: "Come and hear, all you who fear God, let me tell you what he has done for me. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!" God bless you and GOD LOVE YOU!
The greatest commandment: Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, and ALL your soul, and ALL your mind, and ALL your strength. And, love your neighbor as much as yourself. This is humanly impossible. So, don’t feel bad. We cannot do this under our own strength. As the scriptures say, “we all fall short of the Glory of God.” The good news is God sent us a helper to do this and all good works. Pray and ask for the Holy Spirit. Trust in Jesus because He is the “Author AND finisher of our faith.”

I somehow even come to the conclusion: I do not know what love is! Have I ever loved enough? Is my "love" true or is it just dependant on feelings and thoughts...
"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because he first loved us. (1 John 4: 18-21) We cannot love God the way God loves us, but we can give love in everything we have by first participating in the Eucharist, giving what we have to Christ, to be united with His sacrificial love to the Father in the Mass for our salvation and forgiveness. The best expression of love for God that we can do is by genuinely serving others, especially those who are in most need of help and mercy. It's not easy and I might sound hypocritical because I find it hard myself, but that's how Jesus has taught us. "Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’" (Matthew 25: 37-40)
Hi, @andrija Miss! We can read John 21 together. It restored me. His words told me through that chapter that although I couldn't love Him the way I "should" love Him, He is willing to meet me halfway and He will accept the love I am capable of giving just as He accepted St. Peter's. We should not be afraid as He knows everything. He knows our weaknesses, strengths, joys and anxieties and He will accept US. We are loved. We are loved and will be loved. God bless us. Last night i was so hurting. I tried to call a friend severally to talk with but he wasn't picking up. I decided to play a worship song and i listened to it till i slept off. This morning as i was praying my Rosary, these just popped into my mind "God wanted you to go through that hurt alone for a reason". I smiled and all i could say was "Thank you Lord". That was God loving me the way he wanted to.
You hit it on the nail Father Mike! I was just thinking about this minutes ago. Oh, If I could only feel more Gods love! If everyone, youth and humanity as a whole could feel more Gods love. I am sure we would leave everything for Him. But we must work on it. Until He manifest his graces on Us. How can I play a role on that , was the question I felt in my heart. May we be able to to manifest His love on this Earth 🙏🏾
I went through a period where I put up beautiful photography just to stare at and contemplate the beauty of creation. Truth, beauty, goodness. Yes, that's the same sequence. 🥰
The whole point in using love languages is that we love people using their love language, not ours. Sometimes I wonder if God even knows what mine is. He made me this way, he’s the one who gave me my personality and temperament. I feel like if I don’t feel loved by God, he’s not loving me the way I need to be loved. 🤷♀️
God knows all. He is perfect and He is complex, and I personally don't understand a lot of what He does, but He loves you. My love language is physical touch. I would give anything to be able to Hug God right now. But He can't give that to me. So I know that He loves me in other ways. Even if it's not the way I feel I need to be loved. I hope that makes sense, and that we're able to feel God's love, even if we don't understand it.

I wish he would make it easier to understand his love in our lives. Or at least, show us more in ways that we can understand. As someone who's primary LL is physical touch, both in giving and receiving, I don't know how I'm supposed to understand God's love for me when he can't just come down here and give me a hug and tell me its going to be alright
i just finished ranting and raving to God, and i told him: "I'm human. I need to SEE. I need to HEAR. I need to FEEL! I'm tired of just imagining things in my head!" It's not the first time i've ranted this way. I'm of the mind that if i could just see His eyes, and the way he looks at me, if i could just hear him say my name, if i could just feel his hand on my head or a hug...! Then i could survive ANYTHING in this life, because all that would be seared into my very being! I keep asking him to show me in a way that i can feel it. And i'm keeping track of the things that happen in my life that are clearly from him. But also, i'm looking around to learn how others give and receive love. And I always get stuck on the story of Helen Keller - she couldn't see, she couldn't hear. Her only means of communication was touch. And God sent her Anne Sullivan, who helped her find a way to connect to the outside world. Pay close attention to all the things that make you feel a connection to God, to others, to the beauty in the world around us, and to yourself. Music is of great help to me. Whatever i can't make sense of, i just pretend it's because i'm spiritually blind and deaf, and also full of dead nerves that make it impossible for me to feel. Sometimes it helps. Other times, i just feel trapped in myself. But i'm getting better at trusting and waiting. IF there's anyone who can figure out how to break through to us when we are trapped this way, it's GOD!
A love that simmers...it'll blow your mind. You want it now. He knows the appreciation you'll have for it as you grow in faith. Think about Adam and Eve. The knew God intimately - the way we wish to now - and that wasn't enough to keep them from sin. Or consider Judas, who knew our Lord face to face and betrayed him. God knows that our faith - the thing that cannot be seen - is of far greater value in the long run. Something I've also found is that God is hugging you and telling you it will be alright in all kinds of ways that you don't attribute to Him. But as the lens of faith grows sharper, you will see it. And the emotions and all the things you are looking for will start to come. You'll feel his touch even in the touch of another human being. It'll be clear as day. But it begins by the dark walk of faith. Gradually, we are emerging into the light.
Is it your body that needs a hug? Or is it your spirit? The scriptures say that God is spirit. Ask Him for the Holy Spirit. That will be a hug like no other. John 15:13 “There is no GREATER LOVE than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” And, when you ask Him, ALWAYS ask in Jesus’ name.
@@vinodhakirba8527 At times I have asked God for a sign. Not to test him but to know what direction to take when at life altering crossroads. I don't always get an answer but I definitely have gotten some at times when really at my bottom. Try asking for a sign from someone. Try praying for a long hug. I will pray that you receive one as well. Dear God, We know that you are here with us. We know that you love us all. We ask if it is your will to send a loving hug to a fellow sister of faith. If it is your will, send this hug to her today through someone she will recognize it is from you Lord. Wrap your arms around her and hold her. Tell her you love her and she is greatly cherished. Our Father, who art in heaven..... In Jesus name, amen. I will continue to include this intention in my prayers today. Love ya fellow sister. 😊❤
I want God to feel true. I was desperate to feel moved because I knew I was too easily persuaded by the opinions of those around me and I could never trust my mind. Then I had a psychotic break, and I lost the ability to trust my senses, my loved ones, and even my heart, my emotions felt external and random. I can't understand. Someday I won't even have breath in my lungs. I think I rely on God in a special way... I think my soul is the realest thing to me and that makes God the realest thing to me but I am so conscious of how unconscious I am to Him. I just float randomly and I trust that this life is good for me, and I suspect with an abundance of scrutiny that it's a miracle that I'm Catholic and that I'm so aching to love God in the middle of all this and that's my current experience of God's love. I hope in Him, trust extending into the future ahead of the darkness and fog and stupidity... God please save your dumbest sheep
Did not watch the video because it would cut into prayer time, however, caught the title of my news feed, etc and the simple answer is yes, God’s love language is scriptural. Ears open to obedience and trusting in Him. Spending time together in prayer and real service to one another. Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and was glorified by Jesus for choosing the better portion. Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women.
I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but I just saw on the Babylon Bee’s newest story the headline was something like, “there is now a 6th love language in addition to the 5 loves, and it’s taco’s.” 😂

God's love language is the Cross. He carried it and was crucified upon it. In turn, how we give our love to God is measured in carrying our cross and our crucifixion upon it.
I really appreciate this. I often feel my belief is more intellectual than emotional. I question if this means I'm lacking in some spiritual sense, but I think you raise a good point. I'm a fairly logical guy, and so it was thru a logical means God reached out to me
