I just remembered that, back in 2014, Cate Blanchett won the Film Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead for "Blue Jasmine" and, when she got to the stage, she questioned why the males' category had more nominees than the females' category. And then she added "Did anyone see Greta Gerwig in 'Frances Ha'? Extraordinary!"
She's an acclaimed filmmaker but extremely underrated as an actress. I hope we get to see more of Greta doing acting again, she's fantastic. Francis Ha and Mistress America are two of my favourite acting work from her

Was never into classics until I watched Little Women. It has such a soft-spoken confidence and understanding of women - underlying tones of traditional and contemporary. Watched every single interview of Greta for Little Women. Greta’s such a natural filmmaker and she has a passion for it, and it’s incredibly admirable. I only wish she was talked about more.
So glad to hear she still loves acting. I've loved every movie she has directed and additionally the ones she has written, but she is a real special talent on camera and I'd hate to not see more Gerwig acting in the future (with more features as well).
I am so moved by her like... almost tearing up at every memory (I'd assume) that deepness of experience and appreciation of the moments and beauty of existence thus far. ♡♡♡ i feel that.

@@macaronblanc9522Very average, normal women ARE beautiful. And they’re also extraordinary and not at all average. It’s a shame that you can’t see that. So busy being negative that you’re missing the whole point of everything.
"It's more that I write what's interesting and compelling to me, and then they happen to often be about ladies"....Incredibly ironic, considering that feminists attack male-oriented films. This is why the diversity requirements are disrupting Hollywood in good ways and bad, because you write what you know and it's incredibly difficult to describe a place or person you've never encountered so the result can be insincere.
I think she's referring to the concept of "ideas" rather than one actual idea. Ideas, regardless of what they are live forever as it influences the next generation to either use or expand upon.
@@tammytt76 ideas die out and are replaced all the time... It just seems like they tacked on lines like this at the end of the movie to make it seem deeper than it was.

@@chrisi_s I liked Lady Bird, it was original, fresh. She had something to say. After that she made a useless remake and a corporation movie about a doll. And her next project is.. another useless remake.
@@camporosso for one, I don't find remakes useless at all, but to each their own I guess. I really enjoyed Little Women. It's important to me as a woman. I agree with you on Narnia, though -- I don't see the appeal of it, but I wouldn't call it useless, as lots of people will find it perfectly entertaining. It's just not for us. I think Barbie was good to get people talking and thinking about things that would've otherwise gone unsaid.
