Mr. Abunimah says no state exists as an absolute right, but there is a people's right to self determination watch full episode therealnews.com/t2/index.php?o...
My God told me that the God of Abraham (who he described as "a couple eggs short of an omelet) didn't hold valid title over the land called "israel", and thus did not have a legal right to bequeath it to anyone. So . . .yeah.
A Lithanian says no Jewish state has a right to exist in any part of Palestine ! Palestine belongs to the Palestinian people who have tilled that soil longer than any Jew has ever done so . Their ancient home land was Ur! That's in what today is southern Iraq !
This was an absolutely brilliant interview but the analogy in the beginning about the Soviet Union and national self-determination is fundamentally incorrect. The Soviet Union did not break up because of grassroots campaigns for national self-determination (a 1990 poll found that almost three quarters of the Soviet population across the board opposed dissolution - the only outliers being the Baltic States and Western Ukraine, surprise, surprise) but because of at top down agreement between oligarchs - specifically the presidents of the Russian, Belarussian, and Ukrainian republics who made the decision on their own to break up the federation. There was nothing democratic about it.
No, they are oppressed there. They have a particular tax levied on them by the Iranian government that no other ethnic group has. Oh, and they are often attacked by anti-Jewish mobs. Hardly a "peaceful" existence.
I will handle the subject from religious perspective for those who say Israel has right to exist as they are chosen people of God. Yes We Muslims agree that Jews were chosen by God Almighty and they were given the Holy Land as a reward. But, Surely God put forward some conditions for them to stay there and every time they violated Law of God they were punished and exiled from the Land. Condition is to remain faithful and do righteous deeds. first time Jews violated the conditions Babylonian army attacked them and exiled them. Second Time Jews violated it when Jesus son of Mary came to them. Jews called him a baby born of a prostitute (not at all!). and Roman army attacked them and exiled them. up to this day Jews don't accept Jesus pbuh as a messenger of God. That is why they certainly have no right to dwell in holy Land. But if they repent, we muslim will show them great hospitality as we consider Jesus as the blessed messengers of God
Israel has a right to exist today, even though when it was founded, it wasn't done without making the Arabs the victims. If there is ever to be any real peace in that region, then things need to move on and there needs to be acceptance on both sides of this divide. Though, I don't think Israel can seriously claim to pursue peace, whilst in a process of colonising, bulldozing and occupying. Israeli occupation must end, and the Arab Israelis also must be treated equally - unfortunately they aren't at the moment. When this happens, the militant Palestinian groups must certainly be dismantled. Yes, Israel has a right to exist, but exist in peace...
thankyou for agreeing that 8 million or so people have a right to self determination and freedom of religion from islamist oppression..........a bit difficult to exist in peace when some in neighbouring countries want to kill you for not being their religion
To Mr.Ali . Palestine is a given name . Like East Germany , etc. . Abraham , If You know who he is was given this Land . His GOD , The FATHER of JESUS said it . You have the Temple Court yards . The yearning for the Children of Israel started when GOD exiled them for their lust of the material world and not when you believe . Why don't you start with . Allah has 3 daughters and is married to the sun . Salmon Rushdie .
Contrary to popular opinion, Israel is not an "exclusivist" state. 1/3 of its parliament are Israeli Arabs, not Jews. It is the only democratic republic in existence in the Middle East, and it is the only one that doesn't discriminate against an ethnic minority, unlike the discrimination that Arabs engage in against Christian and Jewish minorities in their countries.
