Rich is relative. It is whether you're attached to your wealth that matters. The Rich Man in The Bible walked away sad for he had many possessions. He CARED when he was told to put them all behind, he treasured his own possessions. Job was HUGELY wealthy. Are you going to say didn't get into heaven? Almost 8 years long I had been giving at least 30% of my income, being a rather poor guy. But who is supposed to say "NO" when somebody asks you "Do you like to be rich?" I am not on Joel's theological side, but I don't see anything wrong in his answer.
Having money is not a sin how you use it can be. If you look at early Christianity you see the opposite of what these prosperity gospel preacher talk about. Many Early Christians sold everything and lived in the desert.

I used to go to Joel Osteen's church. And I bought a ton of his books. I have not a problem with him being rich. His books were a great blessing to me and really helped during a low point in life. The fact that his books sells means that he has a message that resonates with people. Why is that a problem
I am full of peace that only god can and will judge us. The possibility that a person can ever judge mercifully or righteously is limited to the person, only the dear Lord can do something like that. So we leave everything to him! God sees the heart.

I have lived hard sinned a lot and was dirt poor done sins to survive. I have started bringing God in my life and all types of miracles have been in my life. I live good now with a husband that I believe God sent to me to save me and take mr out of that world to a good clean life and now I can help ppl like me . I had noone to help me til I prayed to God he heard my prayer and when I truly believed in him and put my problems in his hands things started happening fast. Joel's messages got me through a lot of hard times in life when I was younger. I had nobody and he taught me how to overcome and how to excel. His messages were there for me. May God continue his blessings upon Joel. I'm not an expert of the Bible so forgive my simple interpretations. There are 2 things that come to mind in this example with Joel. 1. Jesus was criticized for accepting an expensive oil. They said it should be given to the poor. Jesus said it was not a sin and there will always be poor. 2. The leaders in the synagogue did not try to find the good in Jesus but tried to trap him and find wrong with him. This guy from CNN is not much different

What is impossible with man is possible with God...clearly that doesn't make that stuff void. Jesus didn't only choose poor people to build His kingdom. You see this time and time again where both rich and poor alike followed Him. That being said we are responsible for how we steward our money that the Lord has chosen to give us. Buying fancy suits and private jets and cars (the lavish things of the world) clearly does not display that Jesus is your treasure. It shows that treasure is your treasure and the money of others is your means. Jesus himself in Luke 9 says “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Clearly He wasn't all about material possessions and Paul said "And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content." There is just a disconnect when people see God's blessings as equated with how much money and stuff people have. In my experience a lot of poorer people have a lot more joy and community than those who are well off. You see the life of Solomon and read through Ecclesiastes and perhaps being rich isn't all it's cracked up to be. On the subject of Joel Osteen though I think he talks about being down to earth and loving the background, but seeing the pride on his face as the guy rambles on about all of his fame and how many countries his stuff plays in and blah blah blah...just doesn't really back it up. It's great that he gives away to the poor, but pride can be scary. I dont know the dude and I dont follow his ministry so I'm speaking from what little I've seen of him so maybe I'm off-base.

I don’t think having a lot of money is a bad thing, but the point Joel misses is that you ask God and seek his wisdom for how you give AND how you receive your wealth. Receiving material blessings is not a bad thing but if you’re not seeking out God’s wisdom for your finances, which actually all belong to God, then you’re using God’s finances for your own selfish reasons. I don’t know Joel’s heart and I can’t judge men, but it would be comforting to hear him express this point.

The good news of God is that while we are so sinful and flawed that Jesus had to die for us, at the same time we are so loved that he was glad to do it. Its very easy to criticize someone who is successful. God doesn't condemn rich because they have a lot of money. It is because their heart is in the wrong place. I think it depends on how are you attached to material things. Honestly some people i think can't help but being rich, they have the charisma, wisdom, bravery and they are not lazy and love challenges and being busy. Maybe these people are not afraid to lose all the material things because they know that their personality will get them up there again. I think we average people must be concerned more about us. We with our loans to the bank become attached to materialsm whether we like it or not. We can't help but concentrate about paying that loan and not becoming homeless therefore our eyes are on these issues rather than our Messiah and that isn't good. In the bible there are many examples of rich people like Abraham, Jacob, king David and so on, but they were walking with God, they were not consumed in materialsm, they would have given it all away that same moment, they were prepared to give their life for Him, that's how they trusted in God. But the rich man that came to Yeshua wasn't prepared yet to give away his wealth for God, i am not even talking about his life. What about Joel Osteen then - i don't know, and neither of you do, only God knows his heart and where it lies. He doesn't have to purposely try to become homeless to prove to you people that He is right with God, He only has to prove himself to God and not to us. The main thing for all of us is to set out eyes only on to the matters of the Lord Yeshua, stop accuse everyone around, watch where we are at our relationship with God and what's in our hearts.
You know what that's some real wisdom and it's true if you benefit from what he says than ofcourse you can say he fulfills the role of being a holy man. However one thing we have to be careful of is not be blinded by the charisma good looks etc of the person or in this case Joel Olsteen because one thing I can say is that he lacks humility. If someone takes money that has been donated to a church and uses it for their own gain is 100% corrupt and under the influence of evil. Do you think Jesus would be out their spending up buying large hones expensive cars suits holidays etc.... if someone is practicing what they preach then surly they would emulate the man who spoke it, Jesus himself. One cannot claim to be a follower of God and preacher of Jesus and not live by those very teachings.
I mean yea he works hard and has a successful business so of course he’s gonna make money... jus cuz he’s a Christian doesn’t mean he doesn’t like money
@@EddieMachetti atheists don't, right? Stop dreamin and open your eyes it's always the politicians that use christianity to make money or war. Being a christian has nothing to do with loving money. Being an atheist does though (since it's your only and limited life and it doesn't matter what happens after your heart stopped pumping blood into your brain)
@@tonybarron6377 You can call yourself a Christian without being denominational. I would be very careful about agreeing with people that say Christians love money. Osteen is no Christian either.
Joel gained a bit of respect from me with this interview, I have to admit. I dislike televangelists and mega church schemes and the like, and I don't think for a second that Joel would prefer rags to riches. But, Piers did seem to try really hard to make Joel appear to be just like all the other sleezy and shifty preachers out there, but Joel did an excellent balancing act between practicality and the appearance of self righteousness. Not that it would matter to a man who attracts the crowds Joel does, but he did well with this interview.
What’s wrong for being blessed and rich? Pastor Joel and his church have been helping and reaching out people around the world through different ministries.
@@advaldez92 yup.Joel is the type of person that will use Gospel prosperity to justify their means and then tell others to go pray when those who could use the money to better their lives continue to suffer. Whats the point of prayers then..Is God just blessing certain people and making the rest suffer..
What's wrong being rich, you can help when you have money, if not he has to depend on a donor for the next meal for his family. His preaching and teachings seem great and feels a positive message.
The Bible says not to worry about what you will eat & wear, for those are worldly concerns. Does God not feed the birds? They don't work a day in their lives, yet you think God doesn't understand you need to eat? God knows you need these things. If you believe in God truly in your heart, all you'll need will be added to you. But the issue is people worship money above God. And that's when things go bad.

I feel like he is using Jesus's name for business! I feel like its ok u can go and have a side business to make some money off yourself. But when it comes to God.... everything about him should be free.... nothing should be profited from his name. Remember in the Bible in the Church people were selling stuff and jesus got mad
nobody is perfect, but when Joel said that you need money to help people, he couldn't be further away from truth. unfortunately though everything is run by cash, so I can understand it when he said that you need money to help people
What I've realized is that people will find any reason to criticize someone. They will assume and conclude false ideas in their heads to box someone in. The questions just makes Pierce sound like he's envious and everyone else who criticizes also. Listen, If you as a person don't like his preaching or whatever then don't support his books and church. Why is everyone attacking them? Sit back and ask yourself what the real reason is that you are triggered. Be honest with yourself and realize that this man doesn't go around criticizing others and spends more time working on himself which is why he is where he is. I'm not talking about his material success but his overall happiness and being content.
He use the church so he don't have to pay taxes, use the church to write books and sale them, they ask him questions and he play around the bush and try not to answer, he doesn't follow the Bible, he follow $$
Soooo if he was poor would you ask him does he like being poor?? Yes blessings exceed far more than materialistic things , much farther. But having financial wealth is a great advantage to have. Nobody ask celebrities nor do they ask rappers who spread negativity do they enjoy being rich . I know pastors personally who used to live in their car, and no they live comfortably. Ask them if they enjoy wealth. It’s hard to change the world or help others with only 20, or even making only 50,000 a year . You can make a big difference with that salary , but it could be even greater with greater
