Longer version of this on my channel in horizontal instead of vertical if you like that better! They are same ending results, but if you are interested its there! Thanks all for coming by:)
I knew it worked I got one and I've drank a small amount of water out of my own pond however it is much cleaner with clear water unlike that nuclear waster water lol.
Wow. A short from a small channel that's actually good and has some decent effort put into it. I'll leave you a sub, hope you can keep that kinda content up!
To be clear. The life straw was meant to be used on moving water , not stuff like ponds because the filter isn’t thick enough to go through all of the gunk and put it to the side
Each has a lifespan no matter what. It's not like you can still use it forever if you only use moving water. Standing or otherwise extremely filthy water just depletes the lifespan of the filter faster. Don't say it shouldn't be used on standing water, it's just not true and you just saw it before your eyes, so shut the fuck up.
To be clear the life straw also claims it can last 10YEARS of daily drinking, which is absurd. (4000 Liter Limit at 1 Liter per day ~10 years). I doubt it would ever last that long. That's the test I wanan see.
They could literally show this short as a commercial and their sales would go through the roof. I legit thought these probably worked minimally but I'm completely sold now
Why tf would you think it’s bogus? Do you know how quickly they would have been sued if they released it knowing it didn’t actually work? These younger generations believe the dumbest fucking shit and are skeptical about things that have no reason to be suspicious of
I'm actually wondering if it will let through any toxins already produced by the bacteria. Like if there's botulism in the water, will it also filter out the botulism toxin? My guess it won't cause the holes would have to be way smaller than is possible if you wanna scale the product to this size, but I could be wrong.
Gonna sound dumb but I haven’t seen it though I’m sure it exists: LifeStraw needs to also sell LifePump. Probably would look kinda like the hand-pump you’d use on a bike tire. So if you needed clean water for something other than your own mouth, you could have it. Example: idk mixing a baby bottle or helping somebody that’s weak but needs water. I just like the idea. And I know there’s ways to get clean water. But LifeStraw is pretty well-known, so this product would get a good amount of attention.
So glad to see this! I have one, but never used it. Saving it for some really desperate circumstance, not really confident that it would perform as noted. Thanks for all of the tests you do!
I’ve had a couple life straws and like them a lot but am always paranoid that they may not work as well as advertised. I feel much more confident that I will be okay using it more often after watching this
I would say leave the clear water in a safe secure area away from contaminants for about a week and see if there was truly nothing, that clear contaminant material has me concerned.
Thank you, I've been wishing for someone to do this finally & now I want a Life Straw. You should seriously see if they'll sponsor you since you're showing how great their product is for free.
I would use this product as an emergency backup for camping, but I’d never trust it as a primary filter. I brought one camping along with a 4 liter gravity filter. Tried it out and cleaned it property. It clogged within 24 hrs after about 5 uses.
The first time I got one of these I put it through a test where I mixed a bunch of mud and water in a cup and tried to drink it and I won't lie best water I've ever had
Me, I tried living off of it during the first seven days of a twenty one day water fast, cleaned out lake water with lifestraw, treated with Shungite and then drank... felt perfectly fine, which I wouldn’t have if it hadn’t worked. But thanks for satisfying my curiosity as to the microscopic view of its efficacy. 🙏🏼
I used the life straw while hiking in Scotland and it saved our butts when we encountered a long stretch of clearcut land where we had expected forest. We had been expecting a tap to refill our water but the only thing we could find was a stream full of gunk and algae. After running it through that straw the water tasted like normal tap water and we never got sick. Highly recommend.
Guys, the point of a lifestraw isn't to be a first-resort solution when you just really want to drink some sewer runoff. It's meant to be used in situations where no clean water is accessible, ideally with other means of purification such as boiling or treatment with tablets.
I wonder how long the life straw works. Many filters and sterilizers work for a short time, but then are useless unless there is an effective way to clean them or charge them.
It works great, but on thing it doesn't do so be aware. It will still taste like pond water if that makes sense. I used to hike alot and carried one of these with me. If I ran out of water I would drink water from any creeks and ponds I found a long the way. Never gotten sick using it but it can't do much about taste. Probably something to do with dissolved minerals ECT in the water
Thanks for this video, I've been thinking of getting some for the in-laws summer cabin (it's in the middle of a swamp (with a wonderful view of the swamp lake), no electricity, unreliable cellphone service, closest source of safe clean drinking water 20+ minute walk away through relatively dense forest, during the dry season, can take up to an hour drying flooding erc) for backups if someone is alone there and for example breaks their leg and can't get to the well on the other end of the property and has to drink swamp water to keep hydrated while waiting for rescue. And before some wise guy goes "why wouldn't they just get into a car and drive to safety", well, because we park our cars infront of the old farmhouse at the other end of the plot of land, the aforementioned safe well is 300 meters closer to the lakeside cabin than the parking area, so if you're unable to drag yourself to get that water you're doubly unable to get to your car... I am looking into how much it would cost to make a small narrow drivable path next to their summer cabin and setting them up a small parking area (preferably with some sort of "garage type thing built cheap from wood just to make things a bit nicer for them) Love my in-laws to pieces and making it easier and more stress-free for them to pop over there for weekends etc would bring so much joy in their lives... Only problem is I'm currently broke, I can do the work it will certainly end up needing tools and machinery I do not have to be able to actually build such s small road, I guess that once I have sorted out what it will end up costing I'll start a GoFundMe or something hoping to get the finances sorted out because I want them to be able to enjoy the place as much as they want during their "Golder years" because they're family to me, and I always want my lived ones to be as happy & safe as possible.
No it doesn’t unfortunately. While a lot of times it worked great for me I used it once in a river and got so sick I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital. I would not trust this in an emergency.
It isn't infinitely reusable though, right? If this video is not proof they work, then I don't know what is. Only thing I can think of is that the straw you used wasn't it's first time use 🤷
@@EpicBaCkFliPz It was a brand new one right out of the box when I got sick funny enough. The one I had before it I used atleast 50 times before replacing
I wish people wouldn't view Life Straw as the default water filter over Sawyer, Katadyn, or even MSR, for example. Life Straw has had some extremely unethical and shady practices in the past, like knowingly exploiting a humanitarian program about bringing clean water to African villages for carbon credits. This isn't really a criticism of CloseIntel; this is something I encounter with a lot of people and creators. I guess a lot of people just haven't heard about the criticisms against Life Straw and haven't heard of their competitors.
It's the same thing with Susan g Coleman, or autism speaks, they have a clean public image but if you dig a bit it's honestly horrifying what they stand for
When I went to Alaska for a hiking/ camping trip( first time doing it and went by my self) I took a liter of water and a life straw. It literally saved my life. I didn’t expect it to get as hot as it did and ran out of water with in a few hours. Checked my map and I found a small creek down the mountain I had camped at the first night. I’d say if your gonna hike anywhere - always have one with you. Only bad thing is once you use it you have a certain time frame in which you can use it I believe. So you use it on one trip and then save it for a couple of weeks or months - you’d have to get a new one. Fucking worth it though.
