Does LOREAL COLORISTA Hair Dye Work On Dark Hair??

Got a ton of comments on my limecrime hair dye video to try out other hair dyes made specifically for brunettes! Now as you can hear me say in the video, this colorista dye is made for "Dark Brown to Light Brown Hair" but not recommended for darkest brown or darker. What I wanted to see is if this left a tint since alot of dark shades are curious of how it will look! Obviously bleach is needed for vibrant color but this is just a fun experiment! Hope you guys like this video testing out the Loreal Colorista hair dye on my dark hair!

Maybe don't do the Splat one... it's a stain, not a dye, so it can be pretty damaging. From personal experience (and a lecture from my hair person), I do not recommend anything Splat.

Really? I recently used splat, and it faded with each wash. And the more it faded, the prettier the tint it left on my hair. No damage whatsoever. I never heard about it being damaging 🙈

I used the violet one, it came in two parts though, the dye and an oxidizing cream. My hair is darkish brown and I left it in for a little over an hour and even though it can look as bright as red in certain lightings, it looks like my hair is just darker when I'm not in direct light. In most indoor lightings you can see a purple tint and in direct sunlight it looks like a very bright light red on my camera. It worked better than I expected for me

I love that you are doing these videos! My hair is dark, not quite as dark as yours. I wonder how it will look on mine since it is a bit lighter. I want to do blue, but I don't want to deal with the lightening and upkeep for blue. This seems to be a good alternative. Your hair is gorgeous by the way!!

ok so I work where we can't dye are hair with crazy colors....& I love dyeing my hair!!!! & this is perfect for me!!! I want my hair to look black but when I'm on the light it'll look blue! I'm definitely doing this cuz I seen this product at my store! tysm♡ I'm glad I watch this video ♡

I leave my dye to saturate for at least an hour when I bleach it, I've got dark hair too and I definitely think without bleaching you might need to let it saturate more, also sometimes applying heat helps. You have really warm toned hair and there's a visible difference when you put cool toned dyes, but I think it just makes your hair look neutral. If you want a super visible difference, I really recommend going for reds because they'll really bring out the warmness and it'll be visible in a wider range of lighting :)

I tried using this dye and it really worked. (I have darkest brown hair btw) At first it didn't really show up, but as days go by (without washing your hair obviously) it'll become me pigmented. (Probably because it starts to fade) After a couple of days, people started to realized that my hair was a different colour. It's really good. Just make sure that you wear your hair in a bun and wear a hoodie of it might dye your pillowcase and make sure it's a dark coloured hoodie and maybe a hoodie you don't care about. (It dyed my wall when I leaned against it while reading books)

this is funny because i literally used this exact same hair dye like 5 days ago (i used a pink dye) and i just now found this video with this brand 😂 i really recommend it. it's really soft, comes out of clothes if you get dye on them, washes out completely in a couple of days, and you get a good amount in the bottle. the only problem is that if you have really long hair (i used to before i got it cut really short today) you have to use two bottle or more.

I have very dark hair too and when I tried for the turquoise one, there was no visible colour even after dying it 2 times in a row, just a small tint that was barely visible. It could barely be seen under the sun as well and nobody noticed it, unless you stare and focus at my hair for a bloody long time.

I have the almost exactly same colour hair as you (all my friends say it's black, but it's just super super dark brown) and I actually bought the same teal colourista dye (only semi permanent) so seeing this made me really happy!!! To be honest, I expected more color payoff from this color. Since it's that dark I thought there would be a little more of a visual blueish tint. ☺ What's funny is I had this color in my hand and thought about buying it, but didn't in the end. 😄 The color is really pretty though, don't misunderstand me. 😊 Your hair looks awesome when the sun shines on it. 👌

CheDi Richardson her hair was too dark. The box says the darker the color the less likely it'll show. Darkest brown-black hair won't show the color.

I have 5 of their pastel shades which all work to varying degrees, I always find I have to leave them in for more than an hour (wayy longer than the recommended time) to get the pigment to transfer as I have darkish blonde hair. Maybe this goes for the brunette shades too if your hair is darker than they expect? ☺

My friend tried this dye on the tips of her light brown hair and it turned out a teal green ish colour, and lasted for so long without fading she had to go the hairdressers and cut all the coloured parts out. Her hair was the colour of seaweed for months XD

I've used it, didn't have to mix anything into it, mine didn't last very long though, one wash and it was mostly out, I'm going to try leaving it in longer and see if that helps

If you're wanting more soft ends there's this thing called 'Kpak color therapy', possibly spelled Kpack, I use it on my hair since it got damaged really bad and it feels great. It's more on the expensive side, but if you really want soft shiney hair it's worth it

Actually if you look at the ingredients for colorista is literally all chlorides, alcohols, and citric acid. So although they don't technically have bleach in it, some of the ingredients especially critic acid bleaches your hair and that's why they can say they have dyes for brown haired people who don't want to bleach your hair. Even if the product makes your hair feel smoother that doesn't mean it's actually healthy for your hair. Pretty much all the ingredients are synthetic and VERY damaging in the long run. Please do not recommend this dye, especially because on the website is says it's supposed disappear after only four washes which is just ridiculous both in general and for the price.

They suck even on bleached hair. My hair is pretty light blonde and it sucks. I'd rather go buy some manic panic from Sally's instead

I have dark blonde hair and I've used red and burgundy and it was pretty awesome. showed up really well. so they don't suck, at least for me worked awesome.

voldfield ok if you look at my profile pic, you can see half my hair is bleached blonde. I didn't see it until I bought it that the burgundy states that it's not meant for natural blonde or bleached blonde hair. I didn't know if it would actually matter or not so I was trying to find a blonde who used the burgundy too, did it really work well? Or were they just saying it wasn't for blonde hair because it will probably show up way brighter than a stain?

True Starks it works really well just stains your hair seaweed green for months after would not recommend unless you were planning to keep dying it this colour

Color will never lift color. The only way to achieve fashion colors is to bleach to a pale yellow color tone it to white and then apply the fashion color. This is the only way they will show up true to color. Unless you're going for a darker shade, then you wouldn't lighten the hair as much.

You definitely don't have to tone before putting brights on bleached hair. And depending on the color you are planning to dye it you don't even have to bleach it to a level 10. If the color is pastel, you will want level 10 but even then you still don't have to tone it.

Kristina P of course you need whute hair if you want it 100% true to colour. This video series is about dyes that show up at all. Not totally true to colour, but dyes that make any difference. No one expects to get pastel pink hair just with dye without bleach unless they have white hair to start with. You can dye hair without bleaching and it can look awesome. I dye my naturally medium blonde(not light but not dark either, like a medium gold-ish I guess) pink and it works amazingly. Shows up, pigmentation is wonderful and when it washes out it's still beautiful because the pink mixes with the warm tone of my hair to create a very hard to describe dark peachy shade that isn't pink or blonde, but something in between. Point is. No you don't have to bleach hair for dye to show up, which is all this video was about.

Sami Rose no, this dye says it's for brunettes. And anyways people requested she try it out on her dark unbleached hair to see if it would do anything. She said it was just an experiment and that she doesn't care to lighten her hair..

Zen Natalie look little girl, did you even watch the video? She explained at the beginning of the video what she expected. She didn't expect much, maybe a slight tint or something. She said it was just an experiment because people were requesting she give it a try even tho she has dark hair. Plus this dye is meant for brunettes anyways so it's not crazy to be optimistic bout it🙄 Pay attention next time.

Zen Natalie the way temp. dye works on brunette/dark hair is that it shows up different depending on what kind of light you’re in just because oh how dark your hair is lol
