3rd video in the series of "does it work on dark hair?!" !! I had gotten a ton of requests for Splat and saw it in a bunch of magazines so figured I'd give it a try and see if Splat hair Dye works on dark hair! Obviously you need bleach for dark hair to get extremely vivid color but I love trying these to see what kind of tints it leaves in my hair! Hope you guys like this review, demo, of splat hair dye on dark hair! Let me know what other hair dye videos you want to see me try!

Theresa Huaroto Next time you do this get another shower rod get cheap shower curtain at .99 store if you have a good shower curtain by 2 cheap ones the second one on opposite side of regular curtain clothes pin the two together in back if desired. I leave my curtains up all the time as it cuts down on having to clean other side of the shower. You can wash the curtains on delicate. For cleaning slice lemon in half use the lemon with baking soda to scrub no extra water it won’t scratch tub. If this does not take it all of add H2O2 if there is still residue fill tub with water and dump in a bottle or two with bleach you can also try it straight by direct application or get paper towels put bleach in spray bottle and lay paper towel in tub saturate with bleach it will easily lay up the vey back of tub since it slopes you can try up sides the paper towels slide down some if too dry or too saturated. Let sit in any of these suggestions since the dye seems fairly tenacious.

Am I like the only one who doesn't have a problem with splat like..at all? It works perfectly for me and I never have to bleach my hair for it to show up and it doesn't dye my shower.

Gens_Art001 I always use Splat. my friend dyed my hair purple from the midnight collection. I have dark hair and didn't bleach at all....it came out so purple but...i left it in for 10 hours. I slept with 1 hair cap on Not a lot got stained lol my hair is still purple I dyed it on Feb 12th lol

Best hack for hair dye (for plastic sinks and tubs): Spread toothpaste ALL OVER THE STAIN! Allow the toothpaste to dry, the dye gets attached to the toothpaste, scub it off without getting it wet. Scrapers, scrub brushes, your fingernail (for small blotches) whatever, keep it dry and scrape the dye right off. Caveat - you have to do this BEFORE trying to scrub it with anything else. Not sure why it works, figured this out by accident because I am messy with both toothpaste and hair dye around my bathroom sink. xD

when i used the midnight ruby shade for the first time, i left it in for 45 mins, and it BARELY showed up. second time i left it in for about 2-2.5 hours, and my hair is so vibrant (i have naturally dark dark dark dark brown hair too)! im really pleased with the outcome tbh

I used this on my natural dark brown hair, I put a plastic bag over my hair and a towel on my pillow and left it in overnight, the next day I rinsed it out with cold water and didn’t shampoo and I tried to go as long as I could without washing my hair. This stuff showed up so strong in my hair and lasted 6 months and would have lasted longer if I didn’t dye my hair a different color. I could even wash my hair with hot water without it washing out

Your wet hair will only transfer dye to bedding and clothes for the first or second day, not forever👍🏼 I used to dye my hair with splat in middle school- my poor pillow cases

Ag Lyssie It really depends, maybe it would if you sweat or somethin, but maybe not! I'd still sleep with a white towel (you can bleach later) on your pillow for the first night and see if there's any transferred color, then go from there

Ag Lyssie Each person will have a different outcome but when I used the blue and purple shades of Splat it bled/transferred dye anytime my hair was wet. Water or if it was down on a super sticky hot midwest day and sweating made it transfer to my shirt a little but mainly my neck. I just used white pillow cases and towels so i could bleach them when I washed them so that i didnt ruin or waste them.

When I did my Niece's hair we tried white vinegar to set the color to set it in and keep it from bleeding when wet. It worked, she had the hair color for 9 months, fairly faded out at the end but stayed in that long. Oh after dyeing hair use up to a cup of the vinegar to cover all the hair that was dyed. Leave on for 5-10 minutes rinse it out. Wash hair & condition or you'll smell like a pickle.

Leave "Splat" in overnight or for about six to seven hours. I have dark-brown hair and it's been blue for months without bleaching. HEADS UP!!! EVERYTHING SINGLE TIME IT GETS WET, THE DYE WILL RUN!!! Rain dyed my face blue. So make sure you keep those old towels for drying and use an umbrella or a hood in the rain. Ha ha! 😄 Hope this helps!

Daiso, a Japanese store, they sell these ear plastic covers that protect your ears when dyeing your hair. They are really helpful! Can you do a video on Jerome Russell Punky Colour dye?

Adriana Zaragoza Beauty supply stores, such as Sally Beauty Supply also have the ear covers. They won't stay on if your ears are very small. Vaseline works just as well.

That’s exactly how I did my daughter hair as well bc that blue 💩 is like a teeny drop on ur hair but when it’s splashed off that one little Itsy bitsy drop turns into a whole gallon of blue hair dye I swear it does and I can’t figure out how or why it multiplies. 🤷🏼‍♀️💯💯💯🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😂😂🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😭😭

I tried splat bleach (and I’m a professional cosmetologist) I applied it on dark brown hair but used a 50 volume developer. I wrapped it in tin foil which heats it and makes it process faster. Left it in for 15 to 20 minutes, shampooed it out and it was the most gorgeous color blonde I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t orangey or brassy . It wasn’t damaged. And my client who wanted me to add the blue on top decided to keep the blonde! She’s loving it so much and wants more blonde. My advice and hour and 1/2 is way to long! If you don’t see results in ten minutes it’s not going to work. Use the splat bleach and go to Sally’s beauty and mix it with equal parts of a hi volume developer. It was so gorgeous and saved soooo much time. Ten minutes! Beautiful color. And if you’d like to add the blue or violet you can add it over the blonde because you have a fresh palate of light hair! Don’t be scared.

Life hack for using splat: after removing the tip of the applicator, apply the dye and then after you are done, put the cap from the applicator bottle (the solid cap from the small bottle) onto the big bottle of dye. The twist part of the cap are the same size and can be switched between the two bottles.

Honestly I have never had an issue with Splat.. I use to use the dark red and bright red splat and the only thing that it would do is Bleed in the shower. Other than that it was fine, it didnt stain my tub when I would shower... as long as my hair was dry my clothes and my bedding nor my hands got stained.. Overall Splat was great since the color lasted so long and stayed so vibrant.

I used magic eraser as a emergency and it does work.Has chemicals but not to bad.I just rinse or wash right away.Rubbing alcohol is perfect for hands.

The magic eraser works wonders. When I did the splat purple with bleach, it stained my shower. I tried cleaning with the magic eraser, and the color went away.

I tried Splat Midnight Indigo and had the exact same results! I left it in for 5 hours. It dyed the bathroom, anything cloth, skin, my painted fingernails (I used gloves but pulled them off while rinsing), scalp... but my hair turned out all right. It came out a blue black, which I love, and it does look better outside. The stuff is SO messy though!

Ugh in 5th grade I dyed my hair the bright red color well I just wanted my tips but my hair dresser gave me stripes STRIPES!!!! I was like okay it's Demi permanent so it should wash out in like a month or something nope it last 2 years TWO YEARS never will I use splot again!!

Danii Mariie OMG same except with purple! lol it's definitely the hairdressers fault. they should know what they're doing. Mine assured me several times that she's done purple before but the results were blue teal and pink stripes, imagine.... So I went back to her the next day to fix it. Always strand test on your hair before going all out, thats what I learned the hard way😅

Kayla Gee Try color remover shampoo. You can get it from a beauty supply store. Some Wal-Marts and drug stores (i.e. Walgreens) have color removing shampoo also. Beauty supply stores probably have color removing products other than a shampoo.

Harmony Daniels I just used Splat and it is perfect. And so easy. Hunks of hair didn’t fall out, and I followed directions about how to use the product with no issues. Everyone here is being so dramatic.. I guarantee you it wasn’t the Splat, it was the user who screwed up.

I used red Splat hair dye a few years ago and it worked pretty well with my dark hair. My hair's almost black, maybe a shade or 2 lighter than black. I left the dye in for about an hour I think (maybe longer, it's been a while so I don't really remember) and it ended up a dark reddish-purple color. It was very noticeable in sunlight and kind of noticeable in indoor lighting. It lasted for maybe a month or two, I think (I don't really remember, but I do remember that it wasn't a very long time). The main thing I didn't like about the dye was how bad it stained my shower, sink, and countertops. My bathroom was neon pink for quite a while after. It didn't really transfer onto my clothes, sheets, or pillows though, from what I remember. I covered my pillow with a towel for the first few days just in case though. It also came off of my skin pretty easily (like within the first day or two).

Use a magic eraser on your tub and any other surface that these dyes get on. Works like a dream.

don't know if it's been said before but I use this trick when j color my hair. It really only works for skin. If you mix a little of the leftover dye with some soap and apply to the stain right away it will usually come off or at least mostly come off.

Abigail Livinghouse splat is definitely not a good dye. If you want something cheap that will actually dye your hair, try manic panic, or arctic fox. Splat really isn't good for your hair

Odd. I've been using splat for six years and never had any real trouble. Any hair dye will stain clothes and furniture when wet the first few times. Of it does it after that, you just didn't know what you were doing. 👌

L’Oréal Hicolor for dark hair works a wonder! You don’t have to bleach your hair and the color comes out so bright. I dyed my blackish brown hair red with this and the red is so bright. Try this out!!

From dying my hair a lot I discovered that if you get dye on your skin, use dawn dish soap and scrub the area then wash it off. If some dye is still there try repeating the process. It should take out about all of it besides some faint color on the hands/nails. This method has also worked for me using Arctic fox and Manic panic hair dye. Maybe this will help a little.

I know this video is old but you did awesome. I've been dying my hair for about 25 years and I always use a warm washcloth to wipe the dye off my skin immediately when I'm applying the dye to my hair. Helpful hint for beginners

Blue won't show much but extremely bright red will show....my hairs black...and I dyed the bottom with bright permanent red....it shows well...and I've done light blonde too...it looks light brown or dark gold

That's why I took it back immediately after reading the instructions. Didn't want die all over my pillowcases, clothing, car seats...anything you touch if you sweat, get caught in the rain or by a sprinkler, or want to go swimming or hot tubbing. Forget it!!!!

I dyed the ends of my hair with the hot pink colour from splat a few years ago and when i went out,I think a few days later, i wore a white t shirt, and considering my hair was pretty long (halfway down my back) it stained the entire back of the shirt. i was able to get it out but my white pillowcases, not so much.

Karolina Kujawski I dyed the ends of my hair bright pink after I got my sides shaved (and my hair was chin length when I did this at the time) and my mom bleached it twice and like one strand of my hair turned blonde and I had pink hair for 2 years before I finally cut my hair to its current length and that's when I didn't have pink anymore. I've used splat before. When I had really long hair I died my tips a dark blue and it washed out after a couple months but the pink WOULD NOT COME OUT. Ever since then I have never used splat. I recommend manic panic or color blast. They are both pretty expensive but they stayed for like 6 months and it was very good when I had it. It only washed out after the first 3 washes but then for the rest of the time it just faded but never bled.

From personal experience; I have really really dark brown hair and I tried arctic fox in Aquamarine. It looked like a nice green blue color (more on the green side though). However the vibrant color only lasted a week (then again I used hot water and regular shampoo/conditioner) and the overall color stayed for about three weeks (it was just hard to see it towards the middle of the second week , it really depended on the lighting and the angle). Personally, I liked the way it looked on me, but I did have to use more than half of the 8oz bottle

I have lighter brown hair and I dyed the ends of my hair red. I diluted it with purple to not make the red as intense and after letting my hair air dry, the color looked really nice and natural with my hair. I haven't tried any of the other colors,but when I used the red it came out great! My hair felt moisturized and smelled like Kool-aid. I might try the blue or Jade green depending on the reviews.

I know this video is old but I just had to chime in. As someone who never dyed their hair hardly ever, I tried splat and love it. Using it again. I used the lusty lavender with bleach and everything turned out fine. I'm very ameture at this also. Not a pro at all. Didn't stain my tub and love the color. It did splash the color everywhere but literally rinsed right off. Yes I've read it's bad for your hair but next time I'll try another brand but as someone who just wanted something cheap and spur of the moment I'm 95% happy. 5% pissed that even on short hair it took 2 boxes. But whatever. Live and learn. I still love it.

I just used this and it stained everything like my whole bath tub, I spent two hours cleaning it and it’s still stained. My whole body is stained and so is my scalp. And it took like two hours to wash out and it’s prolly not even out yet. My sister just told me that it’s known not to come out for awhile so that’s awesome

If you actually do it right. Bleach your hair right, make sure not to be RECKLESS with your dyed hair, and make sure to wash it all out (which this woman did not if it went everywhere) then it will work. My mom has dark hair just like this woman and she got beautiful hair. This woman just didn't really do it right. (Guys, if you want actual coloured hair then BLEACH! No hair dye will work on dark hair. It will just give a bit of pigment.) I'm subscribing because you, ma'am, are so upbeat! I love it!

val G would Vaseline work also to keep dye from touching skin. I know it works for relaxars, my wife used to get relaxers an before she'd put Vaseline on hair line and ears and neck to prevent burns. So I assume it would help with the dye also??

My hair is a dark brown and I use this particular color all the time. It worked perfectly for me though I do have to keep it on longer than normal. Yes the color is strong and does bleed into anything it touches make sure you're using an old tshirt, towel, and bedding(pillow cases). After a 2 days you don't have to worry about excess bleeding. It's a brilliant color and I love it. Hope it works for all you guys too

To get rid of the bathtub stains just use regular cleaning bleach to clean it. Nothing else worked for me but bleach go the color out pretty good.

DO NOT USE THIS BRAND OF HAIR COLOR, I dyed my whole head the berry shade, and almost two years later I still have bits of that color in my hair. We tried color remover for almost an hour and a half, bleaching, and nothing worked. Would not recommend ever ever ever.

My hair is naturally dark brown. I used splat to color my hair. From experience, you will need to used the bleach to lighten your hair to get the best results. Yes it is messy, but I love it when brightening my hair. Good luck on with future dyes.

The directions tell you what it'll look like on the box. I used this on my daughter, and her natural highlights were more blue and the darker brunette looked black underneath. It was actually pretty cool looking when we were done..

I bought this dye and it really does work good on brunets and dirty dark blondes also the first couple days it did bleed into my pillow when my hair was wet so use a towel over your pillow or use an old pillow case, it didn't stain my bathroom at all, and when I take a shower the water going down the drain has a slightly purplish tint... Also this may sound crazy but if you buy this... Do this outside/in your backyard,bring an old chair, and just hose it out... It sounds bad but it makes clean up so much easier

Idk if you did, but if you used hot or warm water, that's probably one of the reasons it came out completely. Warm water takes out color faster. I have professionally done green hair, and I used lukewarm on the side of cold to wash my hair. My green stayed in longer and one day I used hot water not thinking and I could easily see a difference so I'd recommend using cold water to wash after coloring... I hope this tip helps.

I dyed my sisters hair with this stuff and it dyed my sisters shower and it won’t come out. I used the splat dye in the teal color and it will dye everything and it bleeds no matter what I do. I’m mad as hell.

My story : My hair is originally a dark brown and I dyed it with the color. When rinsing it out of my hair it stained my bathtub (i eventually used bleach to get the color off) I stained 3 towels, and I stained the walls in my bathroom. Plus, all the hair dye did was color my hair black and the blue was very faint. After washing my hair just 3 times after coloring it, the color was almost completely gone. I just recommend not using the Hair dye. I think that it was a waste of 14 dollars
