I genuinely believe that the CW line right now has quality that stands up to and surpasses the quality of many Tudor, Omega, Rolex, and Longines models. I wouldn't be surprised if in 25 years we were looking at the 2020+ CW's like we look at vintage Rolex. I think they're that good, truly.

I agree CW’s quality versus cost is for the most part as good as it gets. A lack of an ln-house movement will always be a bit of a negative to some people but I agree that they’ll only go up in value.

It is hard to say why certain things just appeal to us individually, including watches, cars, boots, etc. I respect the fact that Christopher Ward presents itself as really an all-around excellent watch. For me, my favorite watch is actually a Ginault Ocean Rover 2, despite having several much more expensive Omega's, and a smidgen of Citizen beater watches.

True, I think you don't really need one. I'm a collector since 2010 and, among many others, I currently own a 16610 and a 16613. One is currently for sale and I'm probably going to sell the other one too. To be fair though, I've never been a Rolex fan and prefer (love) Omega's. And these Trident's are really starting to get into my head now too. There's no bottom to this hole 😕

Yes that black hole keeps sucking us further and further down! Lol… and the truth is I’ve never held onto the 3 other Subs I’ve had so who knows?…. I really like my Doxa Sub 200 and may go for a Sub 300T next. 2k Vs 10-12k for a Sub.

Hi I'm new to your channel I own most of the big brands and even though I have some very expensive watches I sill own four Christopher ward watches and I'm not saying they are better of the the likes of Rolex omega Tudor etc but on price point and quality for the money and comfort on the wrist it's probably the best I've ever seen so when someone asks me what watch to buy to get into the watch owning market I would say Christopher ward great video thanks John.

I have been in the market for a Christopher ward. I have looked in the used market. However, I will probably purchase new. Did you purchase new? If so, how does the import tax work on a more expensive watch?
@RSSpec
@RSSpec 5 месяцев назад
CW pre pays the duties and you pay for it on your purchase invoice. It’s was right around $100 on the watches I got, retail being between $1000-$1250. It may depend what state your in but they charged me CA state sales tax. Shipping was free on all my orders. Being prepaid you don’t need to worry about the shipping company (DHL) collecting duties. I’ve had other watches from different companies that I had to pay DHL so CW makes it’s real easy. The shipments get to you in just a few days, DHL is great! You won’t regret getting a CW!!

@@RSSpec They get a lot if bad rep because one of the founders used to be involved in making Rolex superfakes but I honestly can't think of anyone better to make a sub-style watch. That particular model (unlike the Ocean Rover which is an actual Submariner homage) has its own design cues with a similar construction and polish you'd expect a proper Submariner to have. It's actually inspired by a submarine that's cut in half. They send you the pictures they used for reference and everything after your order 😂 I think it's a pretty small crew making them, which is why they take a while to ship.

CW is doing great things. Even though one of their relatively recent releases tinkers on being an homage of a Rolex GMT. From my perspective - and from the perspective of seasoned, well experienced watch enthusiasts - what holds CW back is their use of basic ETA clone movements. I assume they use Sellita? Until they make a workhorse in-house movement, CW will never rise in the ranks of horology. There’s nothing in their catalog of interest to me. However, I do have respect for the brand. Their ‘light catcher’ case is unique and appealing to my eyes. CW does have a cult following. Enjoyed the vid. Thx for sharing
@RSSpec
@RSSpec 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for your comments. You obviously make a true point on their lack of history and I’m sure they do very little if any in house procedures other than assembling all the out sourced parts they get and putting together their watches. But still no denying the quality and most importantly the value they offer the average Joe the ability to purchase and wear a very nice watch for a starting price around $900. I still stack their quality against most other watches in that $900 to about $1300 price point. And they do at this point seem to have their own identity with the “Light Catcher” case and their hand set. I really don’t see their watches as homage watches. CW is very open about some of their watches being inspired by other watches but none are direct copies. I have a Black Sealander C63 GMT which again CW is open about being inspired by the infamous Explorer II but other than it having a fixed 24 hr bezel and Orange GMT hand it really has nothing else in common with the Rolex. Personally I like the styling better. Although relatively new to this “Rabbit” (❤️ your handle!) hole, I’m probably more “Seasoned” than you know! Lol… between my age and I’ve had Rolex’s since the early 80’s!… Again love you valid comments I certainly wouldn’t argue your points made! Thanks!

@@RSSpec I enjoyed reading your mature, wise reply. Also thanks for loving my handle. I’ve had a few pet rabbits. I love rabbits. They’re smart, interesting creatures. Esoterically, rabbits symbolize time; because of this, historically, rabbits are often paired with watches - mostly pocket watches - due to this esoteric symbolism. Hence my handle and the art 😊 I could take one deeper down the rabbit hole 🕳️ 🐇 concerning the esoterica of rabbits, time, and their other spiritual significances, but that would require a lengthy conversation lol. @@RSSpec thank you. That means the world to me, because antisemitism has be hard to deal with as of recent. I do not think any watch will quench the thirst for a submariner but a submariner from Rolex. I do love my black bay 54 a lot, however, because it is very reminiscent of the submariners I love the most: mid-50s submariners. And my Pelagos 39 is a great alternative - although not a replacement - to the submariner. A lot of people compared the P39 to a 5 digit submariner; and id have to agree due to the dimensions and overall look. Except the titanium and ceramic, it looks a lot like Tudor Submariner snowflakes - a highly coveted submariner due to the military heritage. Thx for the sub; I subbed to you, too. Like your content!

@@RabbitWatchShop The worlds gone bonkers it seems! IMO if either way your looking for Him to be revealed for the first time or the second time, The Messiah is coming! Back to watches which is what our channels are about, I 💯agree with you only a Rolex Submariner itself will quench that desire I have for one! For me the problem is I’ve already had them and to me I had the one I desired so much having the 16613 with black dial! I’ve had others as well in all S/S and those got away as well. My first two I sold because of financial reasons. After all a roof over our heads is more important than any watch! But I sold my two tone 16613 for the wrong reason! To appease a relationship that didn’t work out anyway! I’m chasing my tail thinking another watch is going to replace that one! I have faith the time will come and I will acquire another! I certainly agree with you about the 5 and 4 digit ones! I have no desire for these bolder blockier ones they produce today! My last thought is how great this RU-vid platform is in the sense of Community! Outside of my part time driving job now I don’t have all that much of a social life, but to discover and meet people like yourself and others is a rewarding attribute of it all!…. Rolex doesn’t have a problem, we do! Lol. We’re the ones paying these crazy prices we’ve seen the past few years. These prices haven’t changed peoples desire for an authentic Rolex, it’s probably has increased that desire. If wearing a “clone” does it for you, go for it. As long as your not trying to sell it to someone as being “real”, no big deal.
