What about the Touya vs Shoto episode? That was also a big episode. The direction, storyboarding, composting and the art looked really good. The animation was also solid.

I’m glad to say that if this season continues with this quality and keeps being this concistent. I’m much ready to say that this is the best season yet (or atleast most enjoyable). The new director seems to know what they are doing and knows where to put their effort and when not to, so nothing major gets sacrificed like season 5..

I've always said this, MHA is basically a long running shonen anime and the fact that we're into season 7 with consistent character designs and good direction with occasional cuts of great sakuga is very commendable.

It looks like after watching the sneak peak of cour 3 of bleach of ichibei vs yhwach bro has to make an animation breakdown in its first 2-3 ep cause this part looks solid asf and direction is pretty insane.

unpopular opinion but id rather have amazing animation and it being inconsistent rather than having mid animation with consistent still frames

I don't think Nakamura will show up for some reason, on a side note I heard that the last fight from MHA movie is 10/10, some kind of Smash is mentioned, really curious to see what Nakamura did this time(although some are not impressed by the movie)

Animation has its improvements, but sadly it’s not gonna fix the problems narratively in many ways

Only manga readers have issues with things being 1:1, and as you said the staff peaked creatively a while ago, but honestly they aren't being 1:1 enough. The vast majority of manga panels aren't adapted as precisely as they could be nor with enough animation to... ANIMATE them. Time and again the manga will show multiple characters on screen doing different things meant to be animated and the anime just slideshows it, killing the momentum. The art is very necessary to get right since that's the whole presentation. The 20% of the time the anime is on par with the manga art, it looks incredible, the other 80% when it's not looks mediocre. If they had less movies to make or less staff squandering than I believe a truly 1:1 adaptation could be done exceptionally well and shouldn't be discouraged especially when their original ideas simply make things look inferior.

the problem is toho animation. They force bones to churn out a biweekly anime . Think about it, Mha has the best music composer, the amazing story, great characters, an addictingly good artstyle and the best action animation studio in the game. but toho cant use their full potential because of rushing

Well didn't watched s7 but seeing some fights if it the season looks pretty consistent but it still didn't reached the peaks of its previous season as far as I seen.

5:33 Why not? You have done it with every anime up to now and its an seasonal format.. if everything else of seasonal shows had to be compared to JJK and DS level quality why should MHA get a free pass when its not an small IP, but one of the most sold franchise of all time..

imo i really didn’t like this season visually. it feels even more static than seasons 5 and 6, and only like one episode i watched (i stopped at like episode 14 idk how many are out now) had stand out animation. it’s visually boring; lacking creativity not just from the compositing and direction perspective, but also just general animation and story boarding. i understand the time limits bones stupidly imposes on the animators and think they produce too much for it to actually look good; but there’s a general lack of creativity in how they deal with those restrictions. it’s just flat stills most of the time, or stiff movement. i can appreciate what they’re doing with the time constraints but idk, it’s a far cry from the consistency of quality of seasons 1 and 2. it’s consistent, but not in a good way. consistently just boring. there’s nothing worse imo than an anime that either barely moves, or when it does move, looks ugly. i’d rather just read the manga. (ik this is a hot take and i’m in the minority here, just thought i’d give me opinion). but i am EXTREMELY excited for movie 4. movie 3 blew me away when i saw it. some of the best 2D animation i’d seen in a long time at parts.

The color sort of kills it for me sometimes. I know it's the style, but it removes a lot of tension

When MHA has limited animation scenes it's a sign the team knows when to cut back but when MAPPA shows have limited animation its the cracks showing in the production. I sense a double standard.

Does this season look good? No, it looks GREAT. SPECTACULAR EVEN. Don't get me wrong, my hero's animation has always been consistently good looking. Some of my favorite episodes/fights all come from each season. S4, S5,S6 and S7 have some standout moments that are movie level quality (in my opinion). So far, I'm enjoying season 7 way more than s6. Season 6 was great but it felt a little.. weaker in the action department, the flow and pacing and staging of some fights felt a little less exciting than I was expecting. Some of the character on model accuracy wasn't so great in s6 but the dark Deku arc fucking SLAPPED so hard. S7 so far has the best mood/tone/style (imo) out of all the seasons. The art style has really found its footing here with the updated designs. The key frames and motion frames this season feel really consistent and visually appealing to watch. The on model accuracy is also more consistent and I'm loving that. The episodes with the big fights are always the right amount of flashy, intense, quick, hectic, all of the good buzz words I can use to describe how fun this season is. By no means is mha the best looking show out there, but it's honestly my favorite anime airing right now. This new director is a fresh breath of air bc I felt like my hero's style/direction needed a change. This is the first time my hero feels "different" despite technically looking the same stylistically. it's all about presentation and that's what this season has, great presentation. My and my Girlfriend have been loving this season and we are always excited for each new episode. it feels like they saved their best effort, all their metaphorical eggs for this basket (the basket being s7). I hope the art stays this consistent throughout the rest of this season. Shout-out to the Deku vs shigaraki fight and the Shoto vs Dabi fight for being my new favorite (and in my opinion the best) episodes of the entire series.

so why does the series feel way worse after season 4? As i think about it Its probably the overall presentation of the episodes starting with the slower Pacing and ending with the poorly looking cg background and the fingers of shigaraki and dont get me started at the annoying ahh blue sky theres so many examples of a better looking blue sky like why doesnt it look as bad on a show like one piece
