17:40 that is copium, an ending is very important to any story no matter what genre or style or else the author can make bullshit stuff up whenever they want without following up on it. I can agree not everything needs to be answered, but JJK have a lot of critical stuff that were missing or didnt fulfill on. I agree an ending shouldn't take away all enjoyment of a work, but JJK is not even a masterclass storytelling from the beginning to the mid point even. There is a lot of stuff that makes zero sense if you put some logic in to it, like how Geto's dilemma leading him to become a villain made no sense. He had an third option other than genocide which would be giving up on becoming a sorcerer, or he could have gone full rogue against the whole time vessel association (would have made him a far more interesting character and a morally grey one too) rather every non-sorcerers since they could be trained to not leak cursed energy. Despite this Geto gets offscreen taken by Kenjaku after the JJK 0 which is just silly and bad writing, if Gege wanted to lead to this conclusion there is so many better ways to handle this "takeover" without it being an asspull. This is just one out of many problems, even the way how someone gain cursed energy in itself is a plothole in the worldbuilding given how easily it could be abused..

11:56 Nobara was dead, she got her head penetrated to death.. and the closest form for resurecction in JJK is the séance technique which wasn't used so if her body could rot away until someone came and "insert plothole" then Nanami could have been brought back to life too. Gojo wouldn't have needed a deus ex machina character switch up and could have instead been resurrected on the sideline. People thought Nobara was dead (sure it wasn't 100% confirmed, but the display was fatal) because she didn't return for a very long time and she recieved a deathblow.. but apparently JJK is just another fakeout death manga now. Disney Kaisen here we go..
@itapproaches3484
@itapproaches3484 День назад
Although i don't agree with how late Nobara came back, Nobara's "death" was left with purposeful ambiguity, and remember, Nita was able to apply his technique to her which prevented her from bleeding out entirely, Shoko also alluded to Nobara "not being fully recoverd" at the start of the Shinjuku showdown, again, i think the way Nobara came back was too late, however it was still foreshadowed.

@@itapproaches3484but for what purpose? Was Gege just too lazy to develop Nobara? It just feels like he didn't want to do anything with her character and brought her back at the VERY END just to say "hey! Look she's actually helpful! She's so cool right!?" while he doesn't care about her in the slightest. He just wanted a woman in the trio for the quota imo
@itapproaches3484
@itapproaches3484 18 часов назад
@mishmashed3842 "didn't want to" it's not about wanting to, not only is Shonen jump absolutely repulsive with the workloads that it puts on authors, plus there's a specific deadline Gege had to abide by which was impossible as his health has been deteriorating for awhile now, which is why he needs to take so much breaks, Gege clearly wanted more time to flesh out the story, however he just can't.
@mishmashed3842
@mishmashed3842 18 часов назад
@@itapproaches3484absolutely agree with this but i don't feel like this was the issue. She brought nothing to the story since the beginning imo. Sure, she got 1 or 2 (realistically, one) "hype moments" only to die the next season. Rushing characters isn't a problem at all tho and i absolutely get that the schedule is tight but the other characters have at least some kind of purpose/role and bare minimum backstory. Nobara? She... had a childhood. Gojo never spoke to her, no focus on her. She pretty much already had the death mark on her head since the beginning. This is so disappointing. I can't even give you a resume of her character and personality since we got nothing. All that for what? To actually not die just to appear at the very end of the story. You get what I mean?

15:22 I think I have an answer for what changed when Sukuna accepted Yuji. It’s not as simple as “Sukuna lost and Yuji’s strength won, so Sukuna accepts him now”. There’s a more thematic reason for it I feel. As we’ve seen, Gojo had to humble himself in order to gain some sort of connection with his students, while he couldn’t full on connect with them, his role as a teacher through humbling himself helped him to connect with them in a way where Gojo continued to be a selfless individual who cared and fought for others. Sukuna on the other hand never cared enough about others to humble himself the same way. He always understood selflessness and why people engaged with it, but he simply never cared to humble himself to get to their level. When Yuji and his friends beat Sukuna, they FORCED him to humble himself, they showed him what it was like to be on the level of the people below him. Through this, it makes sense why Sukuna would change his world view so drastically, he was able to see things from the perspective of others, and this lead to him to not mind living with others rather than cursing them. There’s always been a clear thematic connection between unstoppable power coming with solitude, so logically, it would make sense for this humbling of Sukuna’s power to change his world view on living with others instead of in solitude.

The ending was an outline more than anything. We could've easily had another volume's worth of chapters to let it breathe more. It's definitely not the worst shounen ending I've read, that honor goes to Tokyo Revengers. MAPPA has a huge task ahead of them. One has to wonder, though, who wants to work on that project given the hellish conditions of season two.

The thing is people comments are so dramatically toxic towards gege work that they sounds quiet beefing. The over all show jjk. The story in general make sense with flawlessly logic continuity from the beginning to now and it stays to his true logic. Gorgeous thematic and philosophy wise writing without breaks, epic hype continuisity, loveable characters, characters returns are awesome especially todo one(aside nobara that it's surprising in both confused and happy). And on ability, he's genius for it in my opinion. But the only flaws is lack of character interaction. And leaving questionable number of questions without any answer which some of them are irrevelant. Basically you see a professional artist showing his process. People generally use to make rough sketch, clean sketch and line work etc. But the artist just straight up use the rough line and went to coloring and yet result still masterpiece, and leaving people Perplexed with many questions. Or we could say professional artist says I did this and this but people still have more question but the artist never answer again. Jjk writing is gorgeous since the beginning to now but it has empty space in between every chapters. Those empty are basically chapters dedicated for the explanation. People instead use word bad writing and shaming people who who love it without proper reasons, that rather become more personal than facts. The "unfortunate lost opportunity" or "a very cool idea not realized" these type of words is the right word to make yourself understand rather conclude your paragraph sentence with "bad writing" and yet the reason of major tappers "is gege losing the opportunity of going more deep into it the specific thing" PP did explain well. Thanks you gege

A lot of the endings of popular mangas are not considered good. Me, I find a lot of them to be perfectly okay, for example one of the most recent ones with MHA being fine. I think JJK is one of the few manga endings I actually find to be complete shit (I'm really talking about the 5-10 last chapters). It feels rushed & badly written, the little amount of time we have to close the story is used on stuff that amounts or means nothing, The final showdown was the most anticlimatic thing ever, etc... I could keep going. The actual final confrontation was Gojo vs Sukuna and actually hooked me. The ending of that fight was actually really good and broung interesting topics.

I think the ending makes perfect sense but some aspects of it were very rushed. Gojo's legacy and hope for the future of jujutsu world lives through Yuji (Yuji has powerful allies that can help him improve the system - something that Gojo always wanted. Gojo got his arc nicely wrapped back in 236 and I still think he got the most meaningful farewell out of all characters along with a few earlier characters like Nanami, Geto, Mahito and Jogo). I never thought Sukuna was truly enlightened and unbothered because he was very clearly bitter about Yuji at an abnormal level for him. I've always known Yuji will be the one to defeat Sukuna since Yuji's main power has always been connecting to others, something that Sukuna rejected and Gojo couldn't achieve after Geto. The way Sukuna was losing his unbothered mask whenever Yuji was involved (and the fact that it's the son of his reincarnated twin he ate that kinda predetermined his path and existence), him saying things like "I was a cursed unwanted little wrench", and just how he was convinced that love and connections are unnecessary and weak but got defeated by the representation of this exact thing, it would make sense Sukuna would at least consider a different path when the previous one failed. I agree that it should have been explored more during his fight with Yuji and not just by him being bothered with everything Yuji was/represented. My main critique is that the pacing of the last arc was rushed and a lot of other characters didn't get enough attention to emotionally connect to their journey and conclusion. I wish Kenjaku had a better ending to his arc or that we could have at least seen the consequences of his merger plan's failure. Megumi's arc was underexplored and jumped right to a disconnected "happy" conclusion. We never got to properly know or connect to some newer characters that showed up for Culling Game - there was no time to develop them. All in all, I think the problem with everything after the Shibuya arc and Sukuna vs Gojo was pacing. Gege still managed to explore major story themes, the main plot and conclusion made sense but the journey was rushed and skipped some development and exploration for some characters. Overall, I believe the entire story is incredibly captivating and has held people in its grip for years but I agree that Gege was burned out and was in a rush to finish it. I still think Hidden Inventory arc was his favorite (he never really put as much effort and time into exploring characters not only on thematic but emotional level but the scale of that arc is also much smaller than the ones after that).
