Does Paint Stripper Still Work in 2022 ? Datsun 260Z Build Today I did some paint stripping on some of the panels we didn't get sand blasted Link for supplier : www.carcolourservices.co.uk/p...
I like your idea to use the box cutter to open up the paint! I have found that hitting the paint with 40 grit sand paper by hand works really well also! It is a requirement with lesser paint strippers!
I learned a trick about aircraft striper. if you go buy the cheapest, thinnest alumiumim foil you can find and cover your stripper with it. it won't evaporate and works twice as well.
I'm in The States, how do I order this stuff. I followed your link and it says to all to verify I'm a professional shop and well, I'm just a regular bloke.
I used this to strip the liner inside my motorcycle tank, it's freaking dangerous especially if you add warm water. But the most dangerous part of this product is the residual paint that's been stripped,, the chemical is still active and it will burn your skin, eyes, lungs.
@buffi944 >>> But not a 100% correct sorry to say.... the new rule are No MC paint stripper for home or DIY use. Professional use only from HSE (99 quid + vat training course) per person... Get it, you can buy it direct from the suppliers or dealers without a issue. The new rules 🤣is meant to only allow PROFESSIONALS access to it but to stop non professionals which aren't trained in working with MC. Hows that for your small minded reply! Say you've got a fully working Alu garage sliding door that's paints been slapped on thick in the coats.... You ain't going to buy a new one for price of a few litres of stripper little is going to touch it from blasting it with beads or sand = mess. Many if not all of strippers on the market aren't worth the price = useless Then it's manuel sanding= not worth it; hot air gun= pointless; Pressure washing it = mess Then you have paint stripper with MC (Methylene Chloride - dichloromethane) used for many things from fillers to paint stripping to fully cleaning auto/aircraft/etc parts in heated up vats of the stuff. Lets face it ... modern paint stripper (non MC) is just wasting your money if used on oil or specialist paints even MC has a hard time with epoxy/powder coatings you another vastly more restricted + regulated stripper... But that doesn't stop MC paint stripper getting into the hands of wanting people that need a stripper that works - the rules of the game are so lax in it's enforcement.. I'm not going into details. Look around you can pick it up no questions asked.
