As an aerialist, the only thing worse than wearing a dance belt is NOT wearing a dance belt. Even then, there are some moves that I've had to accept are simply not suitable for dangly bits.

Lol the wikipedia for dance belts is a great read "Dance belts were originally developed in the early 1900s for male dancers to wear during training and performances because vigorous choreographic movements subject their external genitalia - when not otherwise supported, restrained and cradled snugly against the lower groin area - to loose, unrestrained instability (i.e. flopping around) due to rapid acceleration, deceleration and gravity forces"

I’m pretty sure the only reason men still ride astride and never side-saddle is that by the time a safe and secure side-saddle was developed, social norms had already established that side-saddle was “feminine” and astride was “masculine”.

Female silk aerialist here to attest to how badly silk in your lady pocket hurts! Dove pose is usually done into a drop just by letting go, and they like you to hold this pose for effect which isn’t always easy with a good portion of your body weight being supported via crotch. Now, aerial is in general quite painful thanks to physics, but my guy colleagues usually avoid this one or carefully separate the silk to catch the outer crotch/inner thigh

Another example is when I’m doing a chair routine and do a Superhero on the chair back. If the chair back is padded, that’s best case scenario. But then it’s a matter of other costume bits like the lower part of my corset that provides a better structure and distributes the pressure, or ultimately finding the least painful place on my pelvis and/or pubic bone to balance from. This is because if you minimize the pain, it lets you focus on using your arms to support and steady the chair from tipping and using your core, glutes, and back muscles to lift your legs off the ground. I recently saw someone post this online: “Non-dancers see practicing fundamentals as a lack of skill, dancers see practicing fundamentals as a proof of skill.” In other words, practicing the basics of technique is how highly skilled performers prevent injury and mishaps by reminding their body on how to execute the performance safely.

I'm petite, so my hands were too small to really wrap around the pole, and that's absolutely necessary. Also am slender with hip bones, so bruising! And it's pinches your skin, ouch, so more bruising! I don't know how some women do it. I guess there will to do it that's strong enough to endure and overcome the pain. As someone with balls who used to not be super concerned with protecting them while playing sports, it's pretty easy to avoid glancing blows doing stuff like this. With loose fitting clothes and supportive but not restrictive underwear, your balls move out of the way with slight pressure, and typically your scrotum pulls them in from all the movement. Only direct hits really hurt, which is why being kicked in the balls is horrific. But straddling a tree branch, they tuck themselves a bit. And you naturally don't put a ton of weight on them to begin with, it's second nature.
@salemsaberhagan
@salemsaberhagan 3 месяца назад
Honestly I think it's also a bit because of the fact that your body will redirect blood flow to other areas like the arms & legs. That really also does have the effect of shrinking the target area so the chances of impact are lower. But that doesn't mean you go commando coz the centrifugal force from a swing can make you end up right back where you started & then push you even further back. Learned that part the hard way.

@PanEtRosa
@PanEtRosa 8 месяцев назад
in the down position, there is a cavity from which the testes descend during puberty and which persists throughout life. things can be comfortably, safely, and securely nestled back inside that cavity. I recommend looking up some videos on how trans women tuck, or create the appearance of a cameltoe.
@argentpuck
@argentpuck 8 месяцев назад
@@PanEtRosa I'm familiar with the technique (lots of drag queen friends) but my anatomy will not tolerate it. My testes are far too sensitive. Also, they don't descend at puberty, that's an exaggerated myth. The overwhelming majority of people with testes will have them as external organs before they can walk.
@user-pq5ux6ip4i
@user-pq5ux6ip4i 7 месяцев назад
@argentpuck The better formulation would probably be "refuse to ascend under normal circumstances without prodding". Pre-puberty, they often just... escape back in on their own accord. Post-puberty, they usually tug closer but don't fully hide (although variation, of course, abounds). That's my understanding of what "testcles descend at puberty" means anyway.

I love this dude. I love practicing archery (though I am a spec of dust compared to him), I love watching gymnastics, and I love men who are both flexible physically as well as with their gender expression. He makes great videos.

Having seen the bruises my friend used to get from pole practice, I can't imagine how much it would suck to catch that full impact on sensitive tissues

If you'd asked me a year ago, I would have been certain that I would *not* be watching pole dancing videos on youtube - let alone with a male dancer. You tricked me into this, you scoundrel!

The deploy balls in coffee to cover ball fry the make new magpie into ball belly to use the stairs rather than the fireman pole then use the wave cover to do it on the left so it goes down there 😭

Its nice to hear people talking aboit male problems instead of female problems for once. As a female its a nice feeling to think oh gosh, one problem i DONT have to worry about

You're such a great presenter. Your videos feel like watching John Noakes, if that's not too ancient a reference.

I usually wear normal non loose underwear under my shorts, like the same underwear you would use for running aswell and the pole never caused any damage down there.

I like the last part lol, I do acrostaff as a hobby and whenever someone asks me to teach them some tricks, one of the first things I say is "get ready to be hit by the pole, and be ready for it to get you between your legs". Good to see it's a universal experience lol
