A friend of mine is a pro golfer, he basically lived out of his car in the golf season, tough livelihood. I totally respect the opinion of Ms. Pepper

Loved Dottie as a player on the LPGA, she has a true appreciation of the history and the hard work and sacrifices needed to be successful in a single person sport. She has a great foundation which all need to remember.

Dottie and Julie Inkster are two of the best LPGA players to have ever played the game. I have been to a few tournaments and found that the LGBQ bunch have taken the enjoyment out of watching the athletes competing. The fact that she brought up Arnold was amazing. Dottie is the epitome of a real professional. Thanks for the memories!

How has the LGBQ taking the enjoyment out of golf?

Great interview. Totally agree that LIV golfs argument that they are trying to grow the game is totally bogus.

I agree with everything that was said. Just like Tiger said, you have to earn it in the dirt. But it needs to be mentioned that The PGA Tour/Jay Monahan should have been more sympathetic to Mickelson and others about increased purses and how to market the Tour many many years ago. So now the Tour has to reactively modify their structure and poof, there's all this money? It's a bad look. This would have never happened if they would have listened to (some) players years ago. This didn't come out of nowhere.

It is alleged that Michelson gambled away 1 billion. So let’s give him more. Lack of self control from Phil.

Remember Dottie in college at Furman...Could spit nails during a tournament. Think she and "Bones" are the best on course commentators. She could hold her own sitting opposite Jim Nanz, in my opinion.

Agree….unfortunately, there are many who abuse this privilege. In just about all team sports, there is absolutely greed. How much money do you need. Most of us need a lifetime to make a living. I don’t feel bad for any professional touring player or team.

Contracts make you soft ! The majority of world pro sport people are paid millions in contracts. LIV Golf is catching up world sport .

Always liked you Dottie. You have to respect the effort and discipline fitness etc of the top players. But they make way too much money. Sure the market bears it. But compared to the people who scramble to make rent and pay bills a million dollars plus for doing what we only wish we could afford to do is insulting and disappointing. I love golf and hit balls every day but I can't even afford a round of golf. Love the golf championships watch them all. Ha maybe that's the problem.

Tiger as the son of a career Army man was not disadvantaged. The money today's pros make is right out of the pocket of the average weekend golfer. The weekend golfer pays the bills. Have you looked at the price of a new driver? No way that new TaylorMade driver costs the company as much as they charge. The reason it costs so much is because they pay the players to use it. The same goes for a ProV ball. Why do they cost $70 a dozen when you can get 2 dozen balls made in the same factory for 10 bucks at wally world.

I wouldn’t say Tiger was disadvantaged in life as a young boy growing up but he certainly wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Military pay in the 1980s and early 90s wasn’t exactly a gold mine. I’m sure Tiger spent much of his youth at military courses and public municipal courses. And for him to compete on the AJGA tour as a kid and in USGA junior tournaments, it cost considerably. As far as the prices for balls, clubs, etc., yes it’s expensive but 1) there is a lot of research into improving equipment to the maximum allowable tolerances, 2) the equipment companies charge a lot because customers will pay it.

I enjoyed this clip from the podcast and don’t disagree with what was said…but I think greed is a bit hard to quantify. Arnold made something like $800 million in his lifetime. As just a regular schmuck like myself who makes 55k a year and gets to play golf once a week (if I’m lucky) I could look at that and say wow that’s pretty greedy. Instead I choose to say good for him, and good for those players taking the cash. $, story, and parity grow the game. Not moral superiority. After all, I’m sure the golfers that didn’t make a dime in their career would view the PGA players of today as big whiny babies just as the PGA views LIV…kind of all about perspective imo.

Palmer made that money because he was great at relationships and had a long business career after he stopped playing. HIs career earnings on Tour from winning 62 tournaments, including 7 majors, were just over $2 million over something like 20 seasons - before expenses. And that came in events where he also had a chance of earning $0 and being out his traveling expenses and caddie retainer. The prize money for the British Open was so low that he probably lost money the two years he won the tournament. If the guys who went to LIV (or other modern players) worked as hard at relating to everyone they met, there would have been ample opportunities for them to make money after golf. But they had to go for the big guaranteed cash grab RIGHT NOW. F them.

Bryson and others are showing quite the opposite…loaded yet hungry and generous as can be. Imo Greed in this whole saga is the powers that be -tours and tv and sponsors and others who try to limit how much players make.

These 2 are so full of shit. Based on them saying all the big money LIV players make makes them lazy. In that way of thinking, anybody playing professional sports becomes lazy once they become extremely wealthy (say 50 million plus). So I guess Scottie, Tiger, Xander, Bryson and the list goes on will no longer have the incentive to put the work in required to maintain excellence. Not to mention other sports such as football, basketball, etc. I'm surprised Dottie doesn't realize that there's an internal drive in these exceptional athletes that motivate them to be the best at their sport.

Being paid too much relative to the field and your performance absolutely does make you lazy. John Rahm was paid 600 million for liv. Larger than any of tigers Nike contracts.

@@coobay4786 Nope, just talking incentives. I’d take the money too lol. But the incentive to win a million dollar tournament is pretty much gone after that. There’s a reason successful organizations pay for performance.

Who’s this guy? Bryson just won a major and he’s saying LIv players won’t be able to win majors. I am so puzzled how haters stick to their beliefs despite contrary facts.
