I stopped for 4 months after 10 years of use and lost 50% of density. Decided to go back on and I look bald but I see all these black new dots and fine 1 mm hairs growing back where previously these hairs were thick. You lose everything when you stop. Try nizoral 2% twice a week with minoxidil if you don’t want side affects. Worst case it will look like a shaved head with shit hair instead of a shinny bald head.
They say if you stop longer then 6 months you lose them forever. Three weeks in, they are slowly catching up. By year 7-10 I stopped growing long hairs longer then one inch but my head was full with Norwood 2-3 slight thinning vertex. I number 2 the sides and back to blend in the thinner hair on top and with the naked eye it looks like a shaved head instead of a shiny bald head.
If you call it debt don’t use it. You have to have the mind set that it’s a type of conditioner. Men have a easy choice as my husband is mostly bald. I shave his head and eye brows and mustache. You can go to a salon or find a wife that grew up on the south side of Chicago. Or go to one of those men’s salon that use all the bells and whistles. Or a good old barber shop or a unisex salon. I buy and use No bump and I’m a white female and there’s nothing like a large bag of cotton balls. It’s a versatile item because it’s ingredients on a cotton ball can be used as a gentle astringent with a drop of water can tone down the strength if a person feels a festering sensation.
But doesn’t it depend on the type of hair loss? Like if it’s hormonal then it makes sense that it will fall out if stopped. What if it’s due to tension like traction alopecia? If we use minoxidil & stop tension hair styles, the hair should not fall after stopping minoxidil.
True, my doctor also said it to me. It depends of type of hairloss, if you stop minox that you hairloss it is related to DHT(Androgenetic Alopecia) then hair loss will occur but if you stop minox from (stress hairloss, nutritional hairloss, traction alopecia) then hairloss won’t comeback unless you prevent the underlying reason.
As far as I know rogaine help you regrow your hair, but the hair loss is a progressive condition so you need regrow your hair with minoxidil (rogaine) and stop your hair loss (finasteride), my point is, if you use minoxidil also use finasteride.

Also as for the effectiveness of hair growth, does finasteride help in combination with minoxidil or is minox alone effective? I see many people combine minoxidil with finasteride or other products.

Does that apply to facial hair ? Or anything that increases growth that you would get regardless if u didn’t use like for example I don’t have hair loss on my face but it just takes a long time to fill in
Idk if I should use Rogaine. Most of my hair is long but in the crown of my head I have thinning and it just doesn’t grow. I’ve supplemented biotin also and still no results it’s been thinning for about a year now. Would I experience hair loss of the growth after I stop using it?
you should use both fanistride and minoxil for 3 months and see if your crown grow back, and when it grow back you should only use minoxil to maintain those hairs in crown

@@annipsy2185 biggest regret in my life EVER was using minoxidil. I wasn’t balding, I was using it for growing a beard. Then a 2-3 weeks later NEARLY ALL MY HAIR started falling out. It makes your already healthy hair dependent on minoxidil. I never got it back. I had long luscious curly hair and now I wear a military taper. Ironically I think I look much better now but seriously unless you’re already experiencing hair loss do NOT use minoxidil.
But if i have some thin hairs still on my head and then rogain makes them fall out to grow more. Then i stop it and lose that hair which could of been there before tje usage.
Hi sir, if I have telogen effluvium for 3 years or so (also called chronic telogen effluvium). If I use minoxidil to regrow my lost hairs, can I stop the moment I regrow all my hairs back? And I don't have the problem with DHT/male pattern baldness, only telogen effluvium for years now. Please your answer. I know for male pattern baldness most likely people will lose their ''new'' hairs, but how about stress induced hairloss of years back aka telogen effluvium chronic?
Best option. After 7 years of use the hairs only grow out one inch max and look fine. Number 2/3 on top with blending the sides to the thinning hair on top gives a good elusion of a shaved head as you get thinner.
Another good trick is number one the sides and blend top with 2/3 as you thin. You should keep the hair follicles but they get thinner. Doing what you do will save you money with less application and give you confidence to get used to that look until you get thinner in the future.
Try nizoral 2% twice a week. I did this and twice a day minoxidil and for 7-8 years I grew long hair, on year 9-10 I did what you do now. I suggest to ad nizoral 2% as well to stop any side affects with fin.
No the hair lose will be a lot worst, you may even find the good hair that you had turned in a difrent color in the area you used rogaine, the thing it’s that after some months hair could recover to it’s normal color, remember this one it’s made by jhonson&jhonson same ones that made vaccine & other stuff, so it’s something that’s made to sell, while you could just use a dermaroller once a month😏

@@KEEVVYthat's why when using minoxidil you should use also a derma roller/pen and if you plan to stop minoxidil you shouldn't do it abruptly but lower the dose and use derma roller until you die. I think the best responders to minoxidil are those with baldness due to weak blood flow to scalp, I think they also can maintain what they made with min if they use derma roller or pen.

Because DHT is abundant in the scalp and not the face. If that were the case, there would be a lot more hair loss treatments, specifically for the face since people would lose hair on the beards, eyebrows, eyelashes, etc..

It’s a bit disingenuous to say that it doesn’t if you stop. You stop promoting the circulation to the area and you experienced increase hair loss that the circulation would have kept. Minoxidil is akin to trying to fill up a leaking barrel. The hope of hair growth to match or outgrow your hair loss, doesn’t prevent the hair loss. Unless you want to disrupt your DHT (dihydrotestosterone) or testosterone levels with finasteride or other compounds, you’re never going to decrease the leak in the barrel. Minoxidil goes through a shedding phase when you start and a shedding phase when you stop as well so when you initially start you will experience increased hair loss.
obviously! At some point your body will start building tolerance of minoxidil and once it does, you lose it all. So even if you want to keep on using minoxidil forever, if your body stops working with that then you're doomed. But it does also varies from person to person. For some peoples it doesn't works at all. For some it works for a while then it stops working and for people it keeps on working for even more than 5 years so it depends but once it stops your hairs will be gone. And surely at one point its gonna stop working anyways. Pray for scube3 so it comes out by 2025 then everyone might have some hope to get hairs back in more effective and long lasting way.
@@fallout9055 what is scube3? My issue is this: I'm using finasteride. It is okay. I don't see major hair growth but also don't see hair thinning. Maybe it's slowing my hairloss. I'm a Norwood 2 with fine hair. My dilemma is I'm not sure if I should go on rogaine now and enjoy the benefits. Or if I should rather keep it for when things get really bad. Then try rogaine. Because if I use it too soon, and build a tolerance, then it won't be of use when things get really bad. Or is my thinking wrong?
What if ur hair is just thinnining from accutane and u just want to use it for three months until All the accutane is out ur system and ur hair is just temporarily thinning.. I don’t like how my hair looks it makes me look 30.. well I’m 28 but a lot of people say I look 19-22 and I wanna keep it that way… I’m Asian and I don’t have hair thinning or recession or hair loss in my genes at all on both sides of my family.. I’m on a super high dose and it’s my last month and I plan on finishing it. I would love a reply doc
Going thru the exact same thing, my dermatologist said that accutane hair loss is temporary (Telogen effluvium). Using rogaine is only a win win as it speeds up the recovery of your hair thinning and you don’t have to stay on it once you’ve recovered, it’s reassuring that hair loss doesn’t run through your family but just keep in mind that accutane hair loss can take a while to settle, and aim to keep your DHT levels low in the meantime.
What kinda medical advice is this? Can physicians and big pharma stop pushing bandaid meds and find solutions? I mean its been over 60 years now and Fauci is resigning already

I used it for 8 years with good results with normal looking hair after I lost heaps and regained it after using minoxidil and nizoral 2% and then on year 9-10 I kept the hair line Norwood 2/3 little thinning on vertex but it looked good like a shaved head when I number 2 the sides and back once a week and kept the top number 2 1/2- 3. It held my hairs but it stopped growing long on year 9. Year 10 of use I have up got angry. 4 months later lost it all. I tried to see how it looked to grow it back naturally and I lost 50% of my density without those treatments. I decided to hold onto a shaved head look with hair showing and three weeks in starting minoxidil and niz I see new black dots everywhere I lost the hairs previously when I stopped. If I left in another month or two, let’s say 6-7 months stopping I would have lost everything. I see many new little baby hairs that are black that are coming back through and I can tell I was about to lose them as how thin they’re. His wrong. Sorry doc- wrong
If your condition is chronic, such as genetic/hormonal hair loss, then yes, you will have to continue to use it to maintain benefits, just like medication for diabetes or blood pressure.
@Cynic no you shouldn't. You have no idea how many side effects rogaine has. Some ppl experience heart issues, face bloating, chest pain, problems with concentration and some other people lose all their hair that they have before they gain new hairs.
