Bandit the raccoon sure loves peanuts and couldn’t wait for me to get them out of the bag, she’s a funny one. #animals #cute #raccoon #peanut #animal #funny
Once he figures out the peanut pack, its over. I give mine whipped cream on a plate. Trick I use to make them stay in one spot so I can sneak some pets in. But the one who thinks he's a housecat doesn't need me anymore. He can open the fridge by pulling a towel on the door. He grabs the whip cream can from the door. Removes the lid, lays the can down, stands on it and pulls up on the nozzle for a pawful of cream. Then he proceeds to steal the bottle, stopping every few feet to "kkkkkssssshhhhhhhhhhurp" some whipped cream. It usually runs out before he makes it back to the woods.
How do you know if one is safe to go near? They are adorable, but I saw one as I was going outside and we both froze, I don't see them that must have been a first for me. He stared back at me for a while and finally waddled off. I thought it was safe so went outside but a few minutes later he was headed back in the same direction , stopped and noticed me again and then suddenly started waddle trotting towards me I thought that strange for a wild animal So as adorable as he was and as crazy as I am with the urge to squish him in a cuddle my instinct took over and I ran for my life shrieking 😂 Why was he running at me he was gangster not scared at all lol. I forgot to add it was dark outside and night time.
@@CanDeeMarie when you stopped, he probably was thinking of other humans. People usually bend down, extend a hand, and he knows there's usually some food. So he came over to you. Thats just a guess. I'm no expert. Just a guy who didn't want to clean up trash cans, so I started feeding them. So, this is all just firsthand observation. If you're worried, use a buffer. A granola bar, doughnut, piece of bread. Something you can hand them without needing to worry your fingers might get nipped. And I don't try petting anything wild until I reach trust level 2. When you feed them, they'll grab stuff and run off. Thats stage 1. Once they trust you more, they'll stay to eat. Thats level 2. From there, its just a judgement call. But they don't know what petting is, so short pets is the way to go. They'll let you know if they don't like it. A human-like annoyed huff. If they start chittering, leave them be. Thats like them cussing. 2 of mine never cared for petting. Even Stumpy, the one who is super friendly, isn't that big of a fan. He likes snuggles, but petting ends in 2 ways. First, he starts wrestling and playing. Second, he stares at you like he feels guilty and tries to return the petting, but can't figure it out, so he just paws your face like a blind person trying to get a look at you.
@@Volyren Thanks for responding, I always thought if a wild animal approaches it probably means something bad but it was night and I knew that's their normal habit but I still thought he wanted to kick my a@@ lol I then wondered if some other humans he had just gotten used to or something I wish I stood there to find out what he was doing if I see another I will because they are so cute
Racoons definitely love peanuts, walnuts and blueberries. I had one who would come at night, a couple Summers ago. I'd set up the snacks & dish with water. Thank you for helping feed the Raccoon, I love them.🦝🥰
Oh, well this is certainly unique. Usually you see a racoon in the daylight it's a warning sign of rabies. But this sweet baby is definitely healthy. Not something you see too often. Clearly loves and trusts you a lot.
It was after 8:00 pm, I think she just came out a bit early before her babies woke up, I have other videos with her and the babies if you want to watch them. Thanks for the comment have a great day.
Not at all..i have females who come on the afternoon.they are ravenous bc they are nursing.the boys always come after dusk.canine distemper is actually way more common than tabies.rabies is quite tare actially.I would be way more worried about baylisascaris..hope they wash their hands.
My good man seeing them in the daylight does not mean they have rabies if they get use to a food source it doesn't matter if it is day or night they will come and eat.
Saw a raccoon last night . Walking casually down the sidewalk. I said hey there purdy and the raccoon kept on walking. It went out back to climb up a tree.
One ran at me and I ran for my life I commented what happened on another post I thought he wanted to fight me lol it was night time so I don't think rabid.
We have racoons out during the day all the time, mom just brought us 3 babies to see. They are obsessed with peanuts too we feed them but be dont get that close.
I had a Woodchuck, named her Millie, who would come to me every time I was out and look for something to eat! She got pregnant (?) had 3 babies and brought them to me one by one to meet them! I still have the pictures ❤!
Great, but if they are anything like gerbils, too much will make him fat. First handful, mabey plus the spill was enough, not the second handful. Tbh I know little about racoons. Greetings from Wales U.K. 🏴🇬🇧
@@vinceking7878 she’s a mom so I figured she’d need the extra food for her milk, I have lots of videos of her and the babies if you want to see them. Greetings from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Hey this is illegal! 😅😅 You know what; in Canada, at least in Ontario; it is illegal to feed wild animals (Squirrels, chipmunks, racoons so on...). I'm serious. You may get ticket. Even you feed them in your backyard. Yeah, I do illegal things 😂 can't stop myself
Rabies is definitely a concern in wildlife, but the only time I have ever seen raccoons is during daylight hours, and while I am no expert, none appeared rabid. I think it is an adaptation to food availability. I googled rabies in wildlife in the USA in 2023, and 30% of the confirmed 4,000 rabies cases were from raccoons. Care should be taken, but not irrationality. Be careful. And google it for yourselves. The raccoons we had were always lots of fun, usually moms with babies that hung around for a few years.
Watch those claws, they will mess you up. Never try to draw your hand back when feeding a raccoon, they are super fast, and somewhat devastating on hands.
Do not ever do that to a wild raccoon they will bite your hand more than likely this is his pet raccoon and if not this dude has a lot of balls doing what he’s doing right now it’s either that or no brains😂
