Honestly the interior of the Rogue is incredible- super comfortable & spacious, looks a class above, loaded with features. Add to that the incredible new 3cyl engine, it’s a great daily driver. I just really _wanted_ the RAV4, but if I couldn’t find one in the trim & color I wanted, I was also considering the Mazda CX50, Nissan Rogue, and Forester. The CX50 is also great in looks, comfort, & engine like the Rogue, while the Forester was just a last resort since they have plenty of new ones in-stock around my area, though it is comfy and safe, I just didn’t _want_ one. While I was lucky enough to find a RAV4, I will say I was very impressed with the Rogue, Nissan has a real hit on their hands with it.
have one. Averaging 33mpg over 4600 miles so far. Engine is super smooth and peppy. CVT is ok...rather have 8 speed auto. Interior is comfy and works well.
My wife just traded her 2029 RAV4 Hybrid for a Rogue SV AWD with Premium Package - I agree! The interior is great! Much better than the RAV4. Needless to say, shes very happy! Edit: Changed “Plat Package” to “Premium Package”
@@christopherhernandez78 can you explain it like I’m 5 lol. VC just means that the pistols can to from higher to shorter compression ratios, didn’t think it would have anything to do with shifting the engine is just more efficient. How does it pair better with a CVT compared to an automatic? I’m genuinely interested I feel like I’m missing something obvious
This is the most optioned, highly decked out version. So $42k isn’t bad at all in that context. With that said it’s still more money then I would spend on a car. But I think we all need to honestly step back and realize we all don’t need the highest trim version of a vehicle, nor have we saved enough/ earn enough to afford one. The mid trim is about 10k cheaper and has more than enough to offer.
$42K USD = $54K Canadian (CAD)!!! It was ridiculous when small CUVs broke $40K CAD! Now 50K?? Features or not, it’s ludicrous!!! It’s a Nissan “Rogue” ,,,,,,,,, for crying out loud,,,,,,. Ughh.
And you can buy the Mitsubishi outlander that is the same except for trim changes for a lot less with more options and better warranty kind of wish I would have before I bought my 21 Rogue
@@lutomson3496 If you need to trade it in before it’s a beater, you’ll be happy you got the Nissan. I think Nissan will make a comeback in the US. Mitsubishi, not so likely.
I wasn’t going to comment, but I still see so many comments complaining about the CVT. I own a 2016 Nissan Rogue that we currently have over 130,000 miles on and we’ve had no issues with the CVT. I’m sure that they have done the work to make it reliable, and they even mentioned that it has been updated specifically for this new engine, please stop tripping, go test drive one and see for yourself.
My understanding is the CVT has been upgraded. It's the JF022E, instead of the JF016E. It has firmware updates, now has 2 oil pumps (electrical and mechanical), an extended gear ratio range and much more, it holds up to 330 Nm of torque.
@@Therealpeter10 Starting with the models that have the 3 cylinder turbo. I've heard Altimas have had the upgraded cvt since 2019, but I have not been able to confirm that.
@@ZZZZ-mkv I dont know if its the exact one but the '19 and up Altimas do have a CVT in the base thats the same as in the turboed higher level power option. So should be real solid.
I like Nissan a lot! I currently own a Juke, and would certainly consider upgrading to a Rogue someday. However, I want to wait at least a year or two to see how reliable their turbo 3-cylinder is. I would have felt more comfortable with a turbo 4-cylinder, but I haven't driven the new Rogue yet.
It would DEFINITELY make a great SE-R or NISMO outta the Sentra. This new gen is REALLY a looker and it still catches my eyes on the road. It's honestly hard to believe its a Sentra. Lol. It just needs the power to match its looks.
I currently have a 2017 Sentra SR Turbo and was thinking that this new engine would be great for a new one. The current generation Sentra deserves more power, I had one but sadly someone rear ended it and totaled it.
We have two 2021 Rogue SV AWD's with the 2.5L 4 banger. I'm averaging 29.5 MPG with a fairly evenly split commute. Love the interior and excited to take a look at the VC-Turbo when this round of leases end.
I'm about to buy one. That 3 cylinder 1.5 liter turbo engine is frankly astounding coupled with a great interior and practical space. The exterior perhaps is a little meh but I'll live with that! Thanks for the excellent review.
So a high compression, tiny engine boosted with a turbo, and a Jatco CVT transmission which has almost single handedly ruined Nissans reputation over the past 15 years. Sounds like a perfect product to last years past the warranty, where do I sign up?
The have not had CVT issues since the Altima was redesigned in 2019 & this cvt in the new rogue has had no issues. Its been more reliable. Thats a fact. if your gonna talk bout old car models from 5-6 years ago look at the Jeep compass, CRV, and others have had issues.
I had a 2021 Rogue SV Premium with the 4 cylinder and loved it. I traded that in after only 13,000 flawless miles for a 2022 Rogue SV Premium. I have about 3300 miles on it and love the additional horses. Trans is smooth and quiet. I'm currently testing a tank of middle grade premium and I got 40.2 mpg on a short trip I took. Been getting usually 33mpg on daily use.
Nissan seems doing well the older cars weren't bad as think just used cheap parts and CVTS were bad that made buyers walk away while Ghosn was involved now after last few years since departed from Nissan they really gone back to the 80s and 90s. The newer Nissans are much better even Consumer Reports rated the Sentra over Corolla and Civic. The styling looks so much better believe the brand is getting popular again makes me happy see more newer Nissans on the road now love the new Pathfinder, the Rogue is a beautiful SUV wish had 8 speed auto as Pathfinder got 9 speed automatic as ventilated seats agree with Nathan should offer a Rogue Hybrid overall a great car would buy one again if couldn't afford the Pathfinder got a 2015 Rogue it's a great car as well no issues.
I think I’d rather buy a used 2015 Nissan Xterra Pro 4X. Asking price is 19,499. I’ll haggle a bit, but I’d rather lose at bargaining than pay north of 40-60k for everything.
Glad your back Nathan, really enjoy your videos. This version of the Rouge is very nice, and I'm glad they added the turbo. I agree with you about "Where is the Hybrid?"
Nice review and I agree the Nissan Rogue is missing the boat with not having ventilated front seats but you failed to mention that they do have heated rear seats and also a separate rear temperature control (3rd zone).
Wait until next year or the year after. They took a HUGE gamble revamping this SUV in 2021. And then another one putting in an entirely new engine so they did end up listening too their consumer about lack of power in the previous power-train. Ventilated seats can be added VERY easily so i see it happening.
No way do I want cooled seats! What you have to remember is, cooled seats use a blower…which means the heated setting also uses the same blower. I have them in my Titan XD. They take forever to get warm and never get really warm like the grid heating in electric heated seats. Be careful what you wish for because there IS a trade off!
I absolutely LOVE what Nissan did with the Rogue. Inside and out it's leaps and bounds ahead of it's competition. Honda just overhauled their CRV from the ground up but kept the same power train + a few tweaks to the CVT etc...However, they took away it's flat load floor and a few other crucial amenities the 2022 model and prior had. Nissan overhauled the Rogue in 2021 and then took a MAJOR gamble and gave us an entirely new engine for '22. Honestly i feel it paid off for them. However, long term reliability will be something too look out for. But as of right now this vehicle is DEFINITELY on my short list in replacing my current 2015 Lincoln MKC 2.0 AWD. I need a slightly bigger vehicle with more cargo room yet give me good gas mileage while being powerful enough on the highway. Right now my MKC is a gas guzzler with it's turbo 4cyl. They didn't tune that vehicle for getting good gas mileage at all otherwise it's been a great SUV. So my advice is for leases take the plunge on this new Rogue. And for buyers i would say wait a year or so until they have worked out any "kinks and recalls" before dropping $35-42k on it. Otherwise, GREAT JOB Nissan it's about time.
I bought a Rogue SV back in 2018 it was a great car, but it did lack the power and the CVT was a little loud, had in for service and I drove a new 2022 Rogue SL. Bottom line I sold my two Nissans for more than in paid for them and bought the SL. My only complaint so far is the stupid split console.
The screen actually is 9" :) And maybe the Rogue will even get the 12" screen of the new X-Trail eventually? And I think it's pretty sure the E-Power variant (hybrid) will also come to the states.
The new X-trail is absolutely great. They went above the platinum rogue on that one. Yes the e-power version should eventually make its way to North America
Thanks for reviewing this one, Nathan! I've been wondering how this turbo engine compares against the 2.5 NA engine. Sounds like an improvement! Do you know if the Rogue's twin, the Mitsubishi Outlander, will be getting this engine as well? I do know that the USA is 100% getting a next gen. Outlander PHEV, likely late in the year. These two CUVs share a platform so a Rogue PHEV COULD be done (although the Outlander is manufactured in Japan, whereas the Rogue is manufactured elsewhere). Would love to know if you have any information on this! Thank you and great video. Welcome back!
It's a beautiful looking crossover with great mpg for a gas engine. But hard to compete with what the rav4 hybrid does. That's the best value in the segment...
Until they come out with a hybrid Rogue. Then it will be VERY hard for Toyota and Honda. Nissan is catching up with the "BIG 2" automakers VERY quickly.
I stand by everything I said. I’m sorry if you don’t like my opinion, don’t call me a liar. I stand by all y reviews… and NO. I don’t get paid by any company. What a bunch of passive aggressive bullshit. It’s a good car - sorry you don’t like it. If you don’t like my reviews, move on.
Went back and watched this vid …bought a 23 under dealer invoice and zero % financing… best kept secret in its class . They aren’t moving so good deal from Nissan as I think everyone is looking for hybrid but this gets great mileage.
This vehicle was sold in China as a hybrid only with the1.5 cv turbo. Now "X-Trail" its for sale in Japan and by the end of the year in Europe as a hybrid only.
The New Nissan X-Trail will be launched 6th September in Europe with E-Power technology, so much better fuel economy and instant torque, i drove it in April at a training event and it is very good especially with the e4orce awd tech and the interior quality is a massive step up.
The new powerplant was so important to Nissan that they still mated it to the CVT. What a disservice. Excellent body styling, great interior especially in the Platinum trim and good tech. Please Nissan ditch the CVT for 2024 and give this impressive vehicle the 9-speed transmission it deserves.
I have driven the Nissan Puke sorry Joke no no wait ive got this Juke and it was pretty underwhelming I road tested a few economy efficient vehicles and went to the dark side I bought electric yep these economy vehicles pushed me over the edge and now my petrolhead friends have disowned me.
Smooth vehicle. The 23 I test drove was loud and buzzy with lots of road noise and unable to take small bumps. How much were we paid for this review by Nissan? Was this a paid promotion?
Wife has a 2017 Rogue....36,000 miles and has strange battery draining problems, another problem where the AC after a bit of driving draws to a crawl from the vents which is horrible on hot days aynd an issue with a broken clip on the input air housing in the engine bay. Honestly, we are going to be moving onto something else like I did with my Altima....they simply are not as reliable as some other brands.
Is it a reliable CVT? I mean, if it’s built by Nissan, most likely not. They need to just ditch the CVT all together. They don’t have major transmission failures in their other transmissions. Only the CVT.
That is not a shifter Nathan.. you push the button to park it.. you push the button to put it in reverse.. its the same junky ass transmission nissan been making for years
I get it is a bit larger and has a nicer interior than my 2022 Escape Hybrid AWD but not $11,000 dollars nicer. Plus, my car has 200hp, averages 40+ mpg and it came with heated seats and steering wheel. That’s all I need on the cushy side of things.
@@robertsn6584 it’s loaded enough for me. Like I said, AWD, hybrid 40+ mpg (Rogue isn’t), heated seats, heated steering wheel, dual climate control, Navigation, satellite radio and all the safety stuff. 19” rims and tires and leather don’t equal $11,000 to me.
I tried out a Rogue Platinum yesterday. Has anyone noticed a constant faint whine coming from the engine compartment? Love everything about the vehicle but don't know if I can life with the whine.
Some many people have been having issues with the variable crankshaft engines from Nissan. Seems like a recipe for disaster putting it with the awful Jatco CVT. I would not risk it personally on this science experiement.
Jatco hasn’t had a widespread cvt issue since 2014. I drive a Toyota specifically because I wanted reliability, but there’s no data that supports that Jatco currently has issues.
I've had my '22 Rogue for a few months, have noticed an irritating "whirr" noise from under the hood, occurs after about 35 mph, not really noticeable after 60 or so due to wind/road noise. It is more noticeable upon letting off the gas from around 50 mph. Very annoying with no radio on, bearable with music on. I was wondering if anyone else has this same "whirr" on their '22...? My dealership said it is just inherent to this turbo with this CVT.
I just tried one out and the whine was there, faint at all speeds and only one pitch what ever speed it is. Accentuated because the Rogue is quiet inside.
They won’t with most drivers. Finding an in-line six without hybrid is becoming an exercise. I don’t mind a mild turbo, but the big turbos or supercharger and turbo combo stills scares me. Add Chinese ownership and I passed on a new Volvo.
It's over priced. $42, 325 for a Rogue is joke. A fully loaded Tiguan is $38,615. A fully loaded Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature is $40,925. Both Compact SUV's I personally think are better. You could also size up to a Pathfinder for that price. Or get an Audi Q3. Or for a few thousand more buy an alright loaded BMW X3.
Rogue is 100% better than a Tiguan and a CX-5 Rogue offers a lot more tech, more efficency, more equipment, more comfort and practicality also Rogue offers a better interior. CX-5 used to be my favourite, Rogue is now the best SUV in the segment.
@@yippie6862 the things I said are not opinions, those are facts. You can compare by yourself the vehicles in the segment Rogue is the one that offers more value.
At last, the world shall have a Nissan Baby buggy that isn't doing 40mph in a damn fast lane! Now if we could only swap out all the 1st and 2nd gen turds I already have to deal with, my blood pressure would drop substantially....
Sorry we don’t need engines we need more electric vehicles Nissan, you will not be around in 10 years time. I have had 12 new petrol and diesel Nissan cars and one EV Leaf, I will never go back to an ICE car. It’s so much cheaper to run and better for the world, if you want power people, try a EV. Nissan your making me look at other makes but I want to buy electric. Bob Blood Kent England.
