I also have been using a Nesco pressure canner for about three years now. I primarily use it in the winter time doing small batches of meat products that are on sale. I save my presto 23 quart for the heavy canning in the summer and fall for large batches of vegetables. I too have appreciated Rose Red Homestead for her scientific testing on electric canners. By far my Nesco is my favorite canner. I never use the water bath setting, it’s a waste of time.
I also have the Nesco canner , it’s my Buddy ! I was concerned about it being as good as a traditional canner , found a channel Rose Red Homestead . She does lots of testing ... it passed ! Now I can ALL THE TIME ! Thank you for the wonderful peaceful video .
I also have the Nesco (Carey) canner. I bought mine after Rose Red Homestead did testing of several different brands of them. I enjoy using it! I only wish that it was a little taller so that I could waterbath quarts in it as well as the pints.
Very detailed explanation step by step, I realy apreceate when someone takes the time to fully explain things like this. Best I have ever seen. Thank you and God bless.
My wife uses this caner and it works !! I love the fact that it does not heat up the house. Living in Florida. We stay warm just about year around. So this thing makes it are most used caner.
Mama Hoss thank you so much for this video. It was very lovely and you walked us through your day and process so nicely. I felt like I was right there with you canning, picking and preparing you peas. The background music was lovely. Thank you. I have a Nesco canner and love it too.
Ok Mrs. Hoss that's it! You really need to do a lot more canning and cooking videos. And, I also would watch your gardening videos. You are so easy to listen to!
I grew zipper cream peas and purple hull peas this year. Even during the drought, mine produced, and kept going until we had a couple nights of freak 20° temps in October. I will be planting both peas again next year..
I got the Presto electric canner last year and love it! I have 2 All Americans but use them during spring/summer harvest when I do a lot of jars. The Presto is great for small batches and takes the stress out of watching the jiggler.
Thanks Mrs Hoss, just purchased me one of those canners after watching your video. Been on the fence about it for a while, you made it look too easy so I went for it lol
Good video! I have one of those canners and you've inspired me to actually use it. I follow you and RoseRed. Thanks for sharing this wonderful how-to! I need to get some Zipper pea seeds from you. I love your seeds and have great germination with all of them. This is Dolly
That's great, my grandkids from Ohio were here last week and they thought it was so much fun to zip them. I had peas all over my house. They are 7,5 and 3.
I saw this canner on another channel a few weeks ago, and put one in my Amazon cart. I think your video is gonna make me hit that ‘place order” button! Great video!
I don't think you will regret it. I love mine! I have the Nesco and it is a canner and pressure cooker. But, I want to get the Presto as well as "just a canner".
Now those are some beautiful peas. Will taste yum with creamed corn, sliced tomatoes, and fried chicken. I saw the Stivers visit with y’all. Also Tracy a few weeks ago. My mom lives in Hahira. How far is that from your office? I was born is south GA. Love it there. Beautiful country!
My Ball book says 50 minutes for quarts for fresh black eye peas. It says 40 minutes for pints. Green peas have a 40 minute quart cook time. Just want people to can safely. I have this canner and love it
Ms Sheila. I have noticed that if i use a metal fork to take out pickles it will make the vinegar go rancid alot sooner. Is it the same with fermenting?
@@gardeningwithhoss I guess the point is the canning time is max 40 min. and there is no pressure setting. Meat should be pressure canned in my area at 11lbs of pressure for 75 min. for pints and 90 for quarts.
