I never thought I would be intrigued by math. You made me like the subject a lot more because you are such a nice man and you teach it in a way where it's easy to understand.

Hey Mario! I love your videos. I wanted to ask you, but do you believe in the idea of a "math person", or do you think math skills can be developed and improved upon, or is there a limit to how much a person can actually understand?

Great question Aidan. I’ve tutored lots of students over the years and it ‘seems’ like some students catch on more quickly than others to math….but why is that? Is it that they have a deep belief that they are good at math or got some early reinforcement? Or is it their personality? Or maybe they somehow fell in love with math? Or they just put in the time studying? So many possibilities. Maybe if you can tell me more about why your are asking. What I do believe is that everyone can definitely improve their math skills. I always want to encourage my students in person and on RU-vid …will every athlete become an Olympian? Probably not…but some of that is due to timing, effort, coaching, and many other variables. Does every student need to get a PhD in math and discover new theorems? Or is being proficient at a certain level enough? Basically, I’m more Pro-people than I’m Pro-math….meaning to me that I care more about the well being of people and people are more important to me than math…math is a tool…to help people.

@@MariosMathTutoring The reason I’m asking this is because of the fact that I want to pursue a technology oriented degree in the coming year and struggle with a lot of doubts in regards to my foundation. I don’t want a PhD in mathematics, but I do want to be able to pass calculus (that will be a first year course), no matter how weak my foundation initially was. I have seen drastic improvements as of right now, but I wonder if my abilities to understand certain concepts are capped or not by any intellectual limitations.

These are deep questions that I don’t know if anyone actually has the answer to…not knowing you personally I would have to say that you would have to get a sense of you yourself if you feel like you have the ability to get this technology degree you want. Maybe talk to some of your professors, friends, family, and coworkers and get their opinion, support, and input. As far as math goes don’t be afraid to go back and fill in some of the gaps in your earlier math. I hope that helps somewhat and I wish you the best in whatever direction your studies, career and life take you.

You can the math very clever explain - Math is interessant but we need good teachers :) Thanky you for you Job. I learn now the absolute value with the Y funkction into |Y|, and early I can't this understand, but now I can. In Polan we this problems even not to learn. Normalny in higher school, but not in the regular school.
