It's really cool when you get to objectively see how beauty and attractiveness is measured over time. I used to think that you have to have the perfect eyes, nose, lips to be beautiful but having good proportions can already go a long way. Request to analyze Bill Skarsgård! People find him handsome with a dash of creepiness 🤔
Both can be attractive depending on a person's preferences which are shaped by various factors (e.g. ethnicity and culture). Unrealistic male beauty standards have always been there but often not talked about.
@brilliant berbatov I can assure you no one is disparate for you. Grow some humility, I can assure you no women are desperate for you, you’re clearly desperate for attention, commenting all this shit about yourself while hiding behind a picture of an athlete probably 100x more attractive than you.
I was about to say this. Is it a subconscious thing ppl find attractive? I never look at ppl and think "wow this person has a symmetrical face- he/she's attractive!" I look at facial harmony and features more.
@@mar1nn998 no it’s not. Regardless of exact genetics, nutritional insult almost always results in some form of disfigurement, in some organ or the other.

I think the golden ratio is definitely accurate sometimes, but beauty truly is so subjective. Bella hadid for example fits the golden ratio, yet she's not very that attractive to me. Just goes to show, there are universal beauty standards and things we generally find attractive, but beauty will still always be in the eye of the beholder.
@brilliant berbatov oh ok now I realize who you are, lmao your that weirdo from that brazil video, haha that was literally months ago lmaooo your feelings are really hurt. You really subscribed to me just to comment on all my comments because your mad wow weirdo 😅😂😂 seriously get over it, it was months ago
Out of curiosity, if someone actually orders an esthetics report from you, do you allow them to see how attractive they are in other ethnicities ethnicities? Like if you Chinese, you can compare to Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian, American, etc
If you have universally attractive traits most people are going to think you're attractive regardless of ethnicity. If you have big blue eyes, people in China , Japan etc. Are going to assume you're attractive, but people in majority white countries most likely won't care.
@@____5t true but big blue eyes are just one thing typically on a white person, and from my experience living in Japan. Sometimes being white is all you need. But say someone is black, middle eastern, etc. , unless they are actually attractive, then maybe they can be open minded pass the skin color and typically different features. But I suppose your kinda right. Big blue eyes are nice, but so are big beautiful eyes in the first place universally
@@MochaxMatcha being attractive mainly just gives people the impression you're healthy, smart, confident etc. Race isn't that big of a deal if you're attractive regardless of what country you're in. Universally attractive features will be appreciated by everyone.
4:58 is that a joke? That photo is taken with a very wide angle which distorts the face. How can they have taken accurate facial measurements if they didn't control for the focal length of their camera-photos?
my exact thoughts. if they followed that focal length in all their research then everything is inaccurate. 85mm is the correct focal length for portrait photos but most phones have about 26mm (can vary from model to model).
Imagine having the golden ratio but you weren’t European and never knowing that. 😩 great video once again, largely agree with the symmetry, averageness and dimorphism as more accurate indicators of attractiveness.
Such a good video, I know I wouldn’t fit the standard golden ration due to having fuller lips and a wider nose but I still think my facial aesthetics are pretty good so I’ve always wondered if it could modified for other races
@brilliant berbatov that’s what I’m saying the ratio clearly doesn’t apply to the mass majority, you can still be seen as overall attractive without fitting it, your low IQ couldn’t defer that from the statement above :)
@@Asant3 yes especially in 2020 I’ve notice that unique features are being appreciated more, I think plastic surgery can produce a clonish look so it’s quite refreshing to see unique beauty from different countries, for example Mongolian high cheekbones, Middle Eastern noses, mono lids, skin texture. For the younger generations I’m glad they’ll be able to feel beautiful in their own skin 💗
@brilliant berbatov all you do is comment on how hot and how many girls you get. meanwhile you dont even have a pic of u as ur pfp. you sound like one of those reddit incels commenting from their mom's basement.
Who the hell comes up with these measurements. I feel like I find many people attractive that have flaws or even if they don’t it’s all in an individual’s preference. Everyone has their own unique look that somewhere out there is going to find amazing and to die for.
Great video. The golden ratio reminds me of African beauty standards, curvy figure, big butts, and full lips, just because it's not a common body type/feature in Europe, that dosn't mean Europeans are unattractive, that just means they don't fit the African beauty standards. So with the golden ratio, it's an old European beauty standard, so non European people may not fit in it, but that doesn't mean they're unattractive either.
You read my mind makin this video topic! Being German black an Japanese I wondered if I still fit “conventional beauty standards” lol love the work you do, feeds the narcissist in me 🤭
Video idea : beauty criteria of muscles, influence of the muscles insertions, the size of the bones, symmetry of the abs, what quanty of muscle is found to be the most desirable? Why runway models generaly have very few muscles? How muscles are seen in different cultures...
I think the most accurate way to interpret the Golden Ratio in regards to beauty is that the golden proportions are the most pleasing to the eye. The brain is lazy and likes to process things that are the easiest and most pleasing. The ratio would make someone's face pleasing to the eye but that doesn't factor all other aspects that play a part in making someone physically attractive, sexually attractive or uniquely stunning.
@original visual im unfortunately from germany, maybe the article from national geographic will help. but there is really much about it online i think😅 because it is really everywhere, in nature, i’m architecture, in many logos from popular brands,…
The golden ratio literally measures beauty. The more proportional ones face is, the more beautiful they will appear. The golden ratio is a measurement of facial symmetry. Simple as that.
I need to agree. What makes a person attractive is their proportions. Symmetry does play a factor, but it's not everything I've met people that don't have the most symmetrical face, but theyre sooo beautiful compared to people who had symmetrical faces, but still looked average. So...
@brilliant berbatov I didn't say we didn't need symmetry though. It does play a factor, but balanced proportions and unique type of features can quickly cover that.
No my face is not symmetric and im good looking I get asked out by girls regularly and can easily notice girls stare at me even some times hear things like he is so handsome or look at him he is good looking when I pass by some girls and I done mewing on one side only that caused the asymmetry and can clearly see that in my before and after photos but even when I made my face less symmetric I made it also good looking I didn't make my self asymmetric bu choice but I mewed in wrong way
the beauty standards in my home country of Sudan and the ones of America (where i live) have really taught me how most things involving beauty are truly variable. Like for us a woman should be curvy or fat, really anything but skinny(poverty is an issue); huge eyes with long lashes; full lips that aren’t too big; a small nose; being lightskinned but not too light; arabesque features; and wavy or straight hair. It’s influenced by wealth, class, history, arabization, and politics. And here in America the beauty standards are completely different. I don’t deny objective beauty but i think it can vary greatly and factors in a lot of different elements.
I'm glad you make these videos, I hate the 'beauty is subjective' tribe. Beauty is not subjective, otherwise there wouldn't be standards atall. I think if you take one person who's average looking and ask 100 people, 98% will agree they are average. Same with attractive or ugly.
There’s physical attractiveness and then there’s beauty. They’re separate concepts but most people use them interchangeably. Attractiveness is based on physical markers of biological health and dimorphism defined within a particular ethnicity (dimorphism for Scandinavian countries look different from dimorphism in India). Beauty is based on cultural standards that vary society to society and is often determined by power dynamics within that country (hence why beauty standards change over time). So yes, beauty is technically subjective, but physical attractiveness is much more rigid.
There is most likely a correlation between Ideal and attractiveness as a whole. Your pie charts are similar to what you would see in a bell curve if you were to put beauty on a bell curve. If graded on a 0-10 scale a bell curve would show approximately 5% scoring above an 8, 14% scoring above a 7, and 30% scoring above a 6. This does correlate to the numbers you have in the "Ideal" section of your pie charts. Also note that beauty is more than just face shape. It is symetry, skin tone, skin quality, hair (including eyebrows), and a lot of bias (much of which I believe is pre-selection). Example of what I mean by pre-selection: A boy raised by a "good" mother would find a face similar to his mother's to be more attractive than a woman who does not look like his mother while a boy raised by a "bad" mother will find traits like his mother to be off-putting at best.
We don't find dimples attractive, we find attractive people who have dimples to be attractive. Basically having dimples alone doesn't make you attractive.
@@jayc5248 some people will want dimples because they're cute, dimples occur in fuller cheeks which can be seen as neotenous and childlike. Personally I prefer hollow cheeks because it shows of the cheekbones and the process of getting hollow cheeks can be admired.
Initially thought this video was going to be about multiracial people. As in mixed race. Would be an interesting topic to explore. Especially as "averageness" is a marker of perceived attractiveness. What is the source of the appeal of mixed race faces? Obviously not every mixed race person is attractive - but I think its a question worth investigating.
Multiracial people are considered attractive because in societies, consisting of multiple races, their features may be less “other” and because skin tone plays into class distinctions in the western world. In several homogenous societies, mixed race individuals may not be perceived as attractive if they deviate from whatever cultural standard of beauty there is.
But all they did was take the golden ratio of the length to width. No other measurements. I don't think that research paper was very conclusive. Or that you could make that conclusion based off of it.
As a Malaysian Chinese watching this, I find it funny that the study shows no correlation between the perceived attractiveness and the beauty standard postulated by the Greek's golden ratio. I personally think Kim Taehyung has the most perfect face, does his face fit the golden ratio though?
I'd like to see an analysis of Margaret Thatcher. She had clear visual changes in her life, one perhaps being weight loss, e.g. see the contrast between her in her twenties to her in her forties and fifties (about the 1970's). She also had some arguably 'masculine' features (large but elegant nose, deep-set eyes, prominent brow, strong jaw) but many agree she was very feminine.
IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO MAKE AN ASSESSMENT, BASICALLY, THE THE GOLDEN RATIO IS THE DOMINANT RATIO STILL APPLIED HOWEVER DUE TO RACE WE HAVE TO MAKE AN ASSESSMENT BEFORE SURGERY THIS VIDEO IS REALLY HELPFUL I MADE A VISIT TO THE SITE AND THEY HAVE AWESOME DATA. THEY ALSO ANALYZE YOUR FACE AND MAKE A MORPH, THAT'S SOUNDS VERY HELPFUL.

Nature has a wonderful standard to what is optimum not only on attractiveness (more on this in this paragraph) but on what is most optimum to be successful in an environment. For example, the ratio of air to space available in nose, or mouth and size of pupil to amount of light coming in. Even more what is the optimum amount of muscle or facial bone in specific areas to resist the forces as to what natural food is available. This ratio probably even lets us know what is the optimum shape of mouth palate to have all our teeth , (side note: healthy facial structure def is promotes the non practice of mouth breathers thus I read can possibly throw off the amount of oxygen we inhale and amount of carbon dioxide we have in our blood. ) Regarding the physical aspect, maybe the structure that is best tuned to be most optimum in that environment becomes most desirable by those living in say harsh weather or areas that the body has to adapt in more pronounced ways. Nature is amazing. I believe it was by design for us to enjoy life. But all things were also made to be beautiful in their time. And facial attractiveness for a potential suitor is only one part of the entire beauty that is humankind or human existence and person including our inner person our personality.
i feel like we need to look a lot more closely at which features we compare to which other features using the golden ratio, and why? why should we care that that the nose specifically should be 1.618 times the size of the lips? Why don't we say that having ears that are 1.618 times the size of your chin is attractive?
The study doesn't seem to take into account the fact that a multitude of golden ratio correlations may be required for someone to be perceived as objectively beautiful. For example, a Malaysian Chinese with a perfect 1:1.618 ratio of facial width to height may still be rated unattractive because they may have a recessed maxilla and mandible. Hence for the facial width to height ratio of 1:1.618 to work it should also require other corresponding 1:1.618 ratios such as filtrum length to chin-length, etc. A more accurate study would be photoshopping East Asian's faces to match the marquardt mask then get test groups to objectively rate the unedited and photoshopped versions. @QOVES STUDIO, would love to get your opinion on this.
I wish you would do a video on toxic beauty. Such as the recent glorification of looking like a corpse. Why would people find eye bags and a gaunt face beautiful?

There are some general things about proportion, shape, and balance that cause people of any race to consider someone of any race beautiful in appearance, however it is laughable to think a numerical "golden ratio" can decisively differentiate the nuances of beauty between people who have different racial characteristics. Beyond basic guidelines, judgments about differences in beauty between one person and another depend on a person's preferences, not an arbitrary numerical ratio.
Multi racial golden ratio is possible. Hrithik Roshan is very close to the proposed theory, and he is an Indian, please mention this while you analyse his face 🙏🏻

Correction: The golden ratio is derived from an ancient Indian mathematical formula which Western society named for Leonardo Fibonacci, who introduced the concept to Europe. It was first introduced by Rishi Pingala in ancient India.
the study is flawed. "facial satisfaction" could mean a lot of things, and is linked to self-esteem. also, people in different ethnicities/countries are used to seeing faces that are not golden ratio perfect, so what we think is a 7 here in the West is like a 10 in China. In China, models are often mixed and everyone acknowledges that those who are lucky enough to be have been mixed with white blood are often pretty. Sexual selection was probably most intense in Europe due to the low UV index making meat more important to total calories. Only the most beautiful women were picked by successful hunters there.
Yo I have a question like I know some people that have beautiful individual features like full lips n thick brows ect... but like why ain't they attractive if almost all of their features are attractive individually but u get me n my features individually arent that attractive but my face as a whole is attractive !?
It all comes down to facial harmony, how proportional your facial features are to each other. In your example, the people who have good individual features, who you said are not that attractive, may have bad facial harmony
5:00 - Wait is that way of doing the photographs bad? it's up close and whatever focal length is whatever (I forget this shit), making his nose much larger than it is in reality. That seems bad for then applying measurements to the photograph, but maybe I'm missing something.
